Police arrested a Texas City man accused of wrapping a large chain around his15-year-old son's neck before spraying the teen in the face with Mace at their home Saturday morning, authorities said.

The teen ran to a neighbor's home with the 15- to 20-foot towing chain around his neck at approximately 6:45 a.m. and called police, said Texas City Police Capt. Brian Goetschius.

The teen was in the living room of his home in the 1900 block of 36th Avenue North when his father, identified as Ira Danner, 48, entered the room and quickly wrapped the chain around his son's neck and padlocked it with a combination lock, Goetschius said.

When the teen tried to get up and follow his father out of the room, Danner sprayed his son in the face with Mace, officers said. The father sprayed the teen twice, Goetschius said.

Danner was cooperative with police and gave them the combination to the lock.

"He said he was frustrated due to the boy misbehaving and not following the rules and being physically dominant over him," Goetschius said, adding that the father seemed remorseful.

Child Protective Services was called to investigate the case, along with the police. The teen was not injured.

Danner was charged with Class A assault and is currently being held in the Galveston County Jail in lieu of $1,000 bail.

No further information was immediately available.
