And isn't that just typical?    With arthritic hands, we have to get those d#*n labels off the bottles. I say put them in a paper bag and stomp them into oblivion!

My Mom had arthritis in her thumbs. They ended up pulled in from their base toward the palms of her hands. When I was 32. it became hard for me to peel potatoes, and went on to be hard for me to hold a sewing needle and even turn pages in a book. I thought I had damaged a nerve somehow, so I went to a hand specialist. X-rays showed spurs at the base of my thumbs, and he said it was usually genetic and always occured exclusively with women. He was surprised I hadn't sought help before because the spurs were pretty bad, and he said it would eventually pull my thumbs toward the palms of my hands.

The remedy he suggested was surgery to remove a bone, and replace it with a "balled up" tendon from my forearm. He said it should be done in both hands, but since recovery was long, he wanted to do them seperately.

OMG! Let me just put it this way; I got through it with a 4 month recovery (no use of my right hand during that time), but I swore the other hand would fall off before I ever had it done again. I take celebrex and minocyline (I miss Vioxx), and play piano at least 30 minutes a day to try to keep them flexible. My thumbs are fine and have not deformed in any way, but I do appreciate companies that make their product's packaging "arthritis friendly".

Just reading what you went through makes my hands hurt!!  My Granny had terrible arthritis and just kept on keeping on...no real medicines waaaayyy back then and I am sure she would never had agreed to be operated on.  I am glad there are meds for you.

My best suggestion is to go to Youtube and check CS4 tutorials.

Klaas's suggestion is a good one, Protectthe little babies. There is a "Photoshop For Dummies" book, but it takes way more than a dummy to get through it! I bought it and opened it. Then I shut it.

Do you just throw your old medicine bottle in the trash?  DON'T DO IT!

A neighbor  just sent out an email ....she threw her old meds bottles in the trash. She gets a 3 month supply at Wally World. She called to et a renewal and was told her renewals had all been used, She knew she hadn't renewed except once. Her prescription is for a year. She went to Wally World and talked with the Pharmacist he printed out her record and she discovered that just after the last time she renewed her last 3 month supply (this was second 3 month supply)....6 days later another 3 month supply was ordered and 10 days after that another 3 month supply was ordered. So when she called to order her 3rd, 3 month supply....they had all been dispensed. I hope this makes some sense even though I don't feel like I am explaining it right. Bottom line ...don't throw away your old prescription bottle with the labels on....
Oh...the pain meds for severe arthritis
That's horrible Sunny. I had never thought of someone trying to use old pill bottles. My refills are for a month at a time, and the pharmacy has to fax over to the doctor a refill request. I will squash the bottles next time. Thanks for the advise. JSM

State's Attorney Troy King (Alabama) was just on TV saying he will try to charge the man who killed his wife scuba diving in Australia here in Alabama and ask the death penalty or capital punishment.  He is asking the courts in Australia to give a longer sentence at least.

I am shocked to see a Senior Editor take this venue to express a complaint.  I, for one, will not be buying that paper anymore.

It would also look more professional if he had managed to get the name correct.

Hi Anna,

Most people here are not pleased about the result either.  This is the latest item about it all (it seems there is almost a local media blackout on the story since this date) :

Coroner urges murder trial for dive husband Gabe Watson

Article from: The Courier-Mail....Peter Michael....June 09, 2009 12:00am

THE coroner who ruled that honeymoon dive death husband Gabe Watson probably killed his wife deliberately by turning off her air supply has stood by his call for the convicted killer to face a murder trial.

David Glasgow, in a four-week inquest, found there was enough evidence to put the American bubble-wrap salesman and trained rescue diver in the dock before a jury.

"I did my job," he said yesterday. "It was up to the Government and the DPP to decide whether to prosecute or not."

In a case that has attracted worldwide attention, Watson, 32, was formally charged with the murder of his wife of 11 days, Tina, who died while scuba diving on the Great Barrier Reef in October 2003.

But in a stunning twist, Watson, from Alabama, last week pleaded guilty in the Brisbane Supreme Court to the lesser charge of manslaughter and was given a 4½-year sentence. The 32-year-old will walk free from jail in a year.

Queensland Attorney-General Cameron Dick is considering an appeal amid public outcry and outrage from the family who have condemned the sentence as an "injustice".

Feelings are also running high in the US, where the Alabama Attorney-General said he would attempt to have Watson charged with murder when he was released from prison.

Mr Glasgow, in handing down his inquest findings in June last year, ruled there was a reasonable chance a properly instructed jury might find Watson guilty of murder.

He formally charged Watson with murder and issued an arrest warrant in handing up the case to the Queensland Director of Public Prosecutions.

Mr Glasgow, now Family Responsibilities Commissioner, declined to comment further saying he had requested sentencing remarks but was "in the dark" about any plea bargain deal.

The DPP took six months to investigate the likelihood of murder charges before filing an extradition request to the US.

It was not until Watson voluntarily surrendered to Australian authorities four weeks ago that he found the DPP was prepared to accept a plea of manslaughter.

Watson's defence barrister, Steve Zillman, yesterday would not elaborate on any backflip by the DPP.

But it is understood the DPP was anxious about proving the murder case beyond reasonable doubt with no clear motive, only one key witness and poor underwater visibility.

Comments about this story are not allowed for legal reasons.
