  Leonard Patrick Gonzalez Jr. was the lone shooter in the deadly Byrd and Melanie Billings home invasion, a suspect in the case told investigators.



In a search warrant released today, suspect Frederick Thornton told investigators that after the July robbery of the Beulah home, he and the other men met at a Gulf Breeze antique mall with a white female, later identified as Pamela Wiggins.


“The white female whom he could only advise being a blond haired white lady was in the company of ‘Pat’ who had been the organizer of the robbery and the only shooter from the incident,” Thornton said, according to the search warrant affidavit.


Investigators identified Gonzalez Jr. as Pat. He is also known as Patrick Poff, a name taken from his stepfather when his mother remarried.


Wiggins owned the Magnolia Antique Mall in the 4300 block of Gulf Breeze Highway.
Investigators executed a search warrant at Wiggins’ home in the 1200 block of Ramblewood Drive.


During an interview, Wiggins denied any involvement with the home invasion and homicide, but said that her friend “Patrick Gonzalez Jr.” had a key to her home and permission to come and go as he pleased.


Wiggins was charged with accessory after the fact and is accused of helping transport the guns and a safe after the incident. She was taken by authorities from her yacht in Orange Beach, Ala. days after the incident.


She is the only suspect free on bail. Her bond was set at $10,000.


After the shooting and robbery, Thornton said the items taken from the home were loaded into a large Dodge cargo van driven by Leonard Patrick Gonzalez Sr. All of the men got in the van and drove to an unknown location up the road from the home, he said according to the search warrant.


The safe — which contained nothing of value, investigators said — was transported into the small red minivan parked at the side of the road, Thornton said, according to court documents.


Wayne Coldiron — another suspect — told investigators during an interview that woman named “Pam” drove a maroon minivan.


Thornton said that got into a blue sport utility vehicle driven by suspect Gary Sumner. They drove to the Gulf Breeze antique mall to meet up again.


A search of a red 1982 Dodge minivan uncovered $1,115 in cash from a purse, cell phones, a pill bottle with 39 identified pills and a pair of blue jeans with a suspected blood stain, the search warrant revealed.

 the older Gonzalez drove the larger van and that Pam woman drove the smaller
 van and parked down the road.  Both drivers stayed in the vehicles.

Caldiron did two years in a TN prison for beating a man to death.  The charges
were reduced (because the man did not die for several days) to negligent homicide.
It was a fist fight.

Another good reason for Pamela to be back in jail.   

And two years doesn't seem very long for beating someone to death with their fists.  It is maddening to see people that should have been in jail and stayed in jail. Why is it a lesser crime because the man suffered more for a few more days...That makes no sense to me.

Well, the way I read about Caldiron.... He and the other man got into a fist fight,
the police came and broke up the fight.  The police asked the other man if he wanted to go to the hospital.
The man said no, just take me home.  So the police took him home.  A few hours later he went to the hospotal emergengy room.  They transferred him to a larger hospital immediately and he died there a few days later. The police report said that the man did not appear seriously injured.  So  they charged Caldiron with involuntary manslaughter.

I think Caldiron is talking like a magpie.  He wanted out of this caper and Gongalez would not let him quit.
