Mandeville PD searching for missing 18-year-old

02:46 PM CDT on Sunday, July 12, 2009

MANDEVILLE, La. ― Mandeville Police are searching for an 18-year-old boy who has been missing since 5 p.m. Saturday.

Collin Specht, who has Asperger’s Syndrome, has told his parents in the past about wanting to go to Florida.

Specht’s parents said he was last seen walking around 5 p.m. in Mandeville along the North Causeway Blvd. service road. He was wearing khaki shorts, a red shirt and was carrying a dark green duffle bag.

According to the National Institute of Health, “Asperger's syndrome (AS) is an autism spectrum disorder. It is milder than autism but shares some of its symptoms. It is more common in boys than girls. An obsessive interest in a single subject is a major symptom of AS.”

Anyone with information about Specht’s whereabouts should call Mandeville Police at 985-626-9711
