Why wear fur when you can run around "Nekkid"

« Reply #120 on: October 17, 2008, 10:54:28 PM »

Dolce

My three babies are great for people with allergies especially the hairless ones (dogs).  I have chinese cresteds and they do well in florida, with the exception of the lighter colored ones.  They do good too but you must put sunscreen on them all the time or dress them.  They get sunburned really easy.  My black one, I never put sunscreen on her and she runs nekkid all summer long.  I would post a picture, but I tried once before and I could not figure it out.  I will see if I have some in my photobucket account I can share.

This is my dog Grissom! He loves going to the dog park.

http://tinypic.com/view.php?pic=314wk9l&s=4
I still think he looks like a snuffaluffacuss!!  SO CUTE!!  Does he shed much?  Is his fur similar to that of a poodle?  Do you have to shave him ever?
I have a sister who wants a dog so bad, and my dad wants to get it for her, but she has allergies.  She is 7 and she likes your avi.  I just emailed them your photo of Grissom as a possible idea for her b-day.

Spinone's or Spins as we call them are absolutely the best dogs in the world. Can run at the park and be a couch potato too. Not a lot of room is needed inside, just a walk or two or a trip to the dog park. His fur is wirey on top and soft underneath, not alot of grooming is needed. He's kinda got that Elvis waterfall thing going for him. He does shed, but not like a Labrador. He gets a good brushing once a week. My baby is on the large size for a male, he's 106 lbs but can manage to curl up pretty small when he wants to. They are the best with kids and even smaller animals like cats. I have 7 cats who were afraid of dogs, thanks to my chow/corgi mix, but they all love Grissom.  I think he would be perfect for a 7 year old!
Wow, 107 lbs. And he gets along with cats. AWESOME. He is pretty

Yeah, he grativates toward the little dogs in the park that might need protection. They love him too. When playing with the cats, he trys to make himself small by lowering the front end with his bottom in the air and lets the kitties slap at his nose (they don't hurt him, just having fun!). They can be expensive, I went through the Spinone rescue and ended up finding Grissom up here in Michigan not more than an hour away! I've only had him 1 year and he is 6. Some breeders are now doing payment plans with the economy being so bad. If you want info on rescue, let me know and i will get it for you.
I wish mine would gravitate to dogs or cats. He just wants to herd them away from me. He is quite evil when it comes to other animals, whether it be ducks, doves or geese. He goes to daycare and his vet/daycare providers have sent the dog whisperer letters trying to get him help because of his fixation on me. He thinks anyone that he doesn't know is going to hurt me. So I guess that is a good thing.

That's his breed! Cattle dog right? It's his life's blood to herd whether it's animals or children. Have you thought of joining a fly ball team to burn some of that energy off. I find that breed clubs are an absolutely wonderful wealth of information. Grissom has abandonment issues too. But I am now able to leave him at day care w/o him freaking out. You can't undo what a dog was bred to do, but you can work with it and get through to him what you want! Fly ball or other organized dog activities like that help the dog focus and give him purpose. Check it out and a breed club, I'm sure you two can work this out.
Yep you can't undo what a breed is intended to do. The only problem is he is almost 10 years old and was attacked by coyotes when he was younger so he can't jump for flyball. That also makes him have a fear of other dogs. I know it sounds like a bunch of excuses, but he attacked an unleased dog one time and I got between them. It wasn't pretty. I was stupid and got between them. Dummy that I was. I didn't know at the time he would protect me from a dog.

Is he a water dog? He is adorable. What exactly does that breed do, besides be a sweetheart?

The breed is a hunting dog, like duck. They love the water and will break ice to get to the water in the winter time.

What bread do you have Joes?  He is adorable too.  He has some very pretty coloring too.
Sorry Dolce, I just read this post. He is an Australian Cattle dog. Thanks for saying he has pretty coloring. I think he is pretty special.

This is really cute - tell the puppy to sneeze and see what he does!
TYPE IN a command and see what happens... sit, roll over, down, stand, sing, dance, shake, fetch, play dead etc. and... it's also very cute if you type in a command that's not recognized.. .!! Make sure you type in 'Kiss' too, but do it last!!

hehe
Well, I typed in "kiss" before I read your post Mytime. Very cute!

I'm teaching my sheltie to work. She will bring me the remote and the phone (if it's not making noises), and she knows close the door. Next on my list is picking up her toys and putting them back in the toy basket, then making the bed and doing the laundry.

I'm serious.

Is anyone familiar with siamese puddy tats?

I have a new kitten and my vet said today he thinks she has a high percentage of siamese in her.

I will post a pic, but have to charge my camera batteries.
