I've heard from several people today, telling me that a lot of raccoons take up to 2 or 3 bullets before they give.
Headshot?
Last night a friend that works for us, shot 7 of them in his yard. They were chasing him - he went and got his shotgun and 3 of the 7 took more than 2 bullets. They each had at least one head shot!
If I was the one that had to hit it in the head, I'd have to get a grenade or something. Maybe a bomb. I'd never hit it otherwise.
I love animals - even wild ones.
But, I lose all composure when they cross my fence.

If one of them is shot, whoever does the clean up should be very careful, wear thick gloves and dispose and pour bleachwater on the ground or anywhere there was blood or salavia, etc. because they DO carry rabies sometimes.

I can just see Jackie................. Standing on her deck with a shotgun, her yard pitted with smoking trenches, and her house a total smoldering pile. All that's left is rocky raccoon wagging it's tongue at her!

Recently I was coming home about eleven o'clock at night and there was a SKUNK sure as can be in the apartment three door's down's yard area! No, it was NOT a cat but a perfect skunk with perfect ckunk outline and tail. You can bet I did NOT let my dog down on the ground because she saw it as well and wanted to go investigate.

Goodnight Mytime...I'm gonna say a prayer that the Racoon will go away with her babies if she is preggers. That way there will be no need for serious measures.

I don't know. I did look them up on the 'net and it said the mother would take the babies hunting at night with her when they were old enough! And I have smelled that awful skunk smell at night a couple of times so guess they live close by somewhere.

Reminds me of the old movie with Bill Murray Caddie Shack I think when he tried to get rid of the gopher on the golf course. After it was all done the golf course was in shambles and the gopher was still kickin"
