I can just see Jackie.................  Standing on her deck with a shotgun, her yard pitted with smoking trenches, and her house a total smoldering pile. All that's left is rocky raccoon wagging it's tongue at her!

  Probably.

Have you had any encounters with wildlife where you're at?

When I have my car washed, it's usually to get the raccoon prints off!  Seriously!
I was "snorted" at by a huge buck that was at my front door. I hadn't seen it, and had just shut the door and turned at the sound to be eye to eye with the buck. The door was locked!
A fox showed up in the yard when my bitch was in heat. Neither my dog, nor the fox were interested in me getting her inside the house!
3 Thanksgivings ago, I got up early to get started cooking and was sitting in the family room (LOTS of big windows) drinking a cup of coffee. I happened to look out and watched as 23 turkeys ambled through the yard!
You don't even want to know how many snakes I've encountered.
A bat got in the house once.
My son used to paint gun target practice at possums. I HATE them! Animal control came out to pick up 14 in one summer that were in my trash can (one at a time). I'd just put the lid on and call. One of them had all these babies stuck on her stomach! YUK!!!
A saw a wolf once, and a bear climbed a neighbor's tree last year.

I live in a zoo.

Recently I was coming home about eleven o'clock at night and there was a SKUNK sure as can be in the apartment three door's down's yard area!  No, it was NOT a cat but a perfect skunk with perfect ckunk outline and tail.  You can bet I did NOT let my dog down on the ground because she saw it as well and wanted to go investigate.

   Do skunks stick around?

OMG! I forgot the skunks! Years ago, I had a sheltie, and I do not know what it was with her, but honestly, I used to go to Sam's and buy tomato juice by the case. She never learned to LEAVE THEM ALONE!!! The white fur coller around her neck was stained orange!

Reminds me of the old movie with Bill Murray Caddie Shack I think when he tried to get rid of the gopher on the golf course. After it was all done the golf course was in shambles and the gopher was still kickin"

  I remember that too, GE!!!

We have them here you can smell them but it's like the every couple days, they seem to have a territory they live in and are making their rounds. We have to make sure we don't leave  any cat food on the porch at night or else they are there eating whats left. YUCK

CBB,

I had all those too where I used to live in the country.  Plus now we have armadillos!  Also had beaver and coyote so can relate to the wildlife.

Well I don't have armadillos!

At the lake, there are beaver and otter, and all sorts of birds; geese, loons, ducks, heron, and swans. The otter will eat the cushions off your boat and seadoo if you leave the covers off!

Can somebody help me understand how/why there are seagulls at the lake? I'm in UPPER east tenn! I'm right at the border of Virginia, for heaven's sake! You can close your eyes and it "sounds" like you're at the beach!

There are wild goats down the lake on the rock cliffs. I've wondered if a couple didn't escape from a domestic owner at some point, but it's a pretty large herd now and I'm astounded at how they can climb! They look pincushioned to that cliff, because you just can't tell how they're finding footing!
