Ok~I got into the Liagra, so here is y political rant for the day

Joe Legal vs. Jose Illegal
.   Both families have 2 parents, 2 children and live in California.

"Joe Legal" works in construction, has a Social Security Number,
and makes $25.00 per hour with payroll taxes deducted.

"Jose Illegal" also works in construction,
has NO Social Security Number,
and gets paid $15.00 cash "under the table".

Joe Legal... $25.00 per hour x 40 hours =
 $1000.00 per week = $52,000 per year.
Now take 30% away for state and federal tax.
  Joe Legal now has $31,231.00.

Jose Illegal... $15.00 per hour x 40 hours = $600.00 per week =
$31,200.00 per year.  Jose Illegal pays no taxes.
Jose Illegal now has $31,200.00.

Joe Legal pays for Medical and Dental Insurance
with limited coverage ...
 $1000.00 per month = $12,000.00 per year.
 Joe Legal now has $19,231.00.

Jose Illegal has full Medica l and Dental coverage through
the state and local clinics at a cost of $0.00 per year.
 Jose Illegal still has $31,200.00.

Joe Legal makes too much money to be eligible for Food Stamps
or Welfare so Joe Legal pays for food... $1,000.00 per month =
$12,000.00 per year.
Joe Legal now has $7,231.00.

Jose Illegal has no documented income and is eligible
for Food Stamps and Welfare.
 Jose Illegal still has $31,200.00.

Joe Legal pays rent of $1,000.00 per month =
$12,000.00 per year.
Joe Legal is now in the hole -<$4,769.00>.

Jose Illegal receives a $500 per month Federal rent subsidy,
which entirely pays his rent of $500.00 per month =
 $6,000.00 per year.
 Jose Illegal still has $31,200.00.

Joe Legal now works overtime on Saturdays and
gets a part time job after work to make ends meet.

Jose Illegal has nights and weekends off to enjoy with his family.
 20
Joe Legal's and Jose Illegal's children both attend the same school.

Joe Legal pays for his children's lunches while Jose Illegal's
children get free government sponsored lunches.

Joe Legal's children go home after school.
Jose Illegal's children have an after school ESL
program which, again, is provided free of charge.

Joe Legal and Jose Illegal both enjoy the same Police and
Fire Services, but Joe Legal paid for them and
Jose Illegal did not pay.
ARE YOU MAD YET?!?!?!

There always was a reason that I believed John Lennon was the force and the best Beatle. I rarely could stand that fluff music that Paul wrote, John was not fluff and wrote from the heart. Always liked John's edginess.

5 things to watch during recess
<snipped>
Glenn Thrush Glenn Thrush   – Mon Aug 3, 5:17 am ET

House Minority Leader John Boehner has predicted a “very, very hot summer.”

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is bracing for what she calls “the fight of our lives.”

Sleepy, sweltering August, typically a month for congressional beach getaways and temperature-taking back in the district, is shaping up to be the critical month for health care reform, with major battles brewing in the Capitol and on the streets in front of members’ hometown offices.

If ever there was a time for a curtain raiser on an intermission, this is it. So here are five things to watch over the most consequential August recess in recent history:

I know this isn't national news but maybe you all (I'm sure Mr. NRCG can  ) can explain to me how spending $400 million to clean up Lake Erie is going to help the economy?  They've been "cleaning it up" for years.  I did read the article where it says it's supposed to generate $2billion in new jobs (what fishing charters?), industrial developement (what industry? are they still waiting for the steel mills to reopen?  We get most of our steel from China), & increased property values (Lake front property is already inflated & overpriced). Whatever.  People are starving and losing their homes here, schools suck and Cleveland graduation rate is 40%.

Great Lakes may clean up
Cleanup of Cuyahoga might be on agenda (yes this is the river that caught fire in 1969, incase you were wondering)

I don't have the answer, but since I grew up on Lake Michigan they really need to clean that lake up as well  My hometown is a shell of what it use to be. There were so many factory jobs, they are all gone or slowly dwindling to nothing

Don't live in that county anymore, thank goodness.Crooks....a bunch of crooks. That Bettye Fine Collins in a major beyotch.
I know a couple of weeks ago there were dialysis patients that couldn't get treatment at Cooper Green, and I don't know where they went.
They have taxed the county residents to death.
And on a side note there are still over 100,000 people waiting on their state tax refunds, and one of them is me.I am sick of taxes.

You just know the middle class will be paying for a lot of this health care reform, I don't give a sh!t what they are saying. The middle class always seems to be the ones hit the worst.
You are right No Rose, the middle class always gets hit, BUT these people are SOCIALISTS and don't believe in Captialism, so they really want to TAX the RICH (themselves excluded) into bankruptcy.

Just an FYI, I remember being a kid during the Carter administration, my parents were "middle class". I was in Jr High and we weren't starving or anything, but I remember when Ronald Reagan  an angelic monkey won the election, my family was a lot better off than in the Carter admin. JMO JSM

We were living in Albuquerque, that was my first election that I was able to vote in. I remember being in line, and an elderly couple said to my husband and I that Jimmy Carter was going to be the next president. Being young and a know it all, I started to laugh and said yeah right, who has ever heard of Jimmy Carter and it isn't going to happen.....
We had an election in the fifth grade, I was the only one to vote for Gerald Ford. My first election was RR second, and I drove all the way home from college to vote for him.

He is and will always be a great hero of mine. Margaret Thatcher, Lech Walesa, JPII, and Vaclev Havel along with both George Bushes are also my heroes. Just don't tell the hubby, but JSM has a crush on Donald Rumsfeld.  Monkey Devil!

Good morning, Monks,  I know JSM's post which I am responding to was last night and this will bring it far forward, but I couldn't resist.

I love the Gipper too.  Where are men like that today? And Margaret Thatcher is one of my all time heroes.

This is what I couldn't resist.  "I made a fool of myself over John Foster Dulles."  Is anyone else old enough to remember who became famous with a song to that effect?

I'll just bet Paul McCartney isn't involved in the NHS.  He can afford the best doctors in the world and pay for them himself.  That's the same with all of these jerks who want to foist an unworkable, discredited system on us, like the Congress of the USA.  They don't have to be part of it.  Anyhow, look at what judgement McCartney used when he picked his latest wife?  Genius, right?

Good Morning, Sass.  I never believed that the position of President of the USA was an entry level job, but apparently a lot of people felt otherwise.  I think some of the people who felt otherwise have probably been dead for 20 years.  Ask ACORN.

I saw this, this morning.  A inspirational story of two young men, each with their own issues, coming together and giving it all they've got.  Please take a minute to watch, it is truely inspirational.
