A new White House tactic to control the message on health care reform has critics accusing the Obama administration of playing "Big Brother" and threatening the privacy of average Americans.

"No one expects that when they exercise their First Amendment rights to ask questions or complain about a proposed government program that they're going to be listed on a database in the White House," Sen. John Cornyn, R-Texas, told FOX News Thursday, saying the White House effort raises serious privacy concerns. "You don't have to be a conspiracy theorist to see the potential for serious abuse."

In a rhetorical argument that is unlikely to yield any winners, Democratic lawmakers and their opponents in the health care debate have descended into a war of words over the symbols of Nazi Germany.

Town hall audiences and conservative bloggers protesting a Democratic-sponsored bill on health care reform have used the disturbing imagery to compare the plan championed by President Obama to how the Nazis treated prisoners in concentration camps.

Supporters have turned around and suggested the angry "mobs" are reminiscent of Adolf Hitler's blind followers. Some lawmakers say they have canceled public meetings because they fear for their lives.

But an axiom in political strategy states that whoever uses the Hitler comparison generally doesn't win the debate -- unless he's participating in a debate about Nazis.

Replacing a town hall meeting for a conference call in his district, Rep. Brian Baird, D-Wash., on Thursday compared his constituents' behavior to Nazi-era adherents.

"What we're seeing right now is close to Brown Shirt tactics," Baird told a local newspaper. "I mean that very seriously."

If I remember correctly, O's supporters were the ones carrying signs of Bush looking like Hitler. Dumbazzes don't know when to shut their yaps. The brown shirt tactics are the ones the Dems are using by asking people to snitch on their neighbor for emailing THE TRUTH about healthcare reform.

New Jersey authorities say they have removed a package believed to contain potentially unstable explosives from a car parked at a home in Hammonton.

Police acting on a tip that there were potentially dangerous explosives in a vehicle went to the residence in the southern New Jersey community about 3 p.m.

Neighbors in a two-block area around the home were evacuated as bomb squad members evaluated the situation.

Maddy Vitale, spokeswoman for the Atlantic County prosecutor's office, said state police bomb squad members removed a package from the car shortly before 7 p.m. and were taking it to an undisclosed location to detonate it.

It was not immediately known what type of explosives were involved or what prompted someone to call police.

I think they are running scared Trimm.  These protestors aren't stinking hippies and code pink morons. These people are me and you and the MSM and Obama knows people like us can think for ourselves. I think that is what is scaring them and now they are trying to scare us if we speak out, we will be on their "LIST". These are the same d*****bags that cry and whine about McCarthy and the Hollywood blacklist back in the day. Now they are trying to do the same thing to me if I speak out against dear leader. Well all I can say to them is "put me on the list now" come knock on my door and there will be 53 pounds of hairy h*ll waiting to greet you at the door. 

Sorry I am aggravated. My nephew was in a car accident today and I needed a rant. He is okay, thank God and Jesus.

I agree with the age 18 with driving. The airbag went off in my neighbor's face when he had an accident, and his nose was all red, it looked like someone punched him.

He was so sad and scared when I talked to him. This isn't his first "accident". He swears he was driving "safely", but he is 16 and I hate to say it, but I doubt his story. His brother is a police officer, I am sure Big brother is going to have a heart to heart talk with him the next time he sees him. I love this child with all my heart. When I heard he was okay, I told my mom he needs a hooptie, not a jeep. He needs a '78 LeSabre or something of that nature. Something big, made of steel and will keep him safe. (also something he will be so embarrased about he won't want to drive).    At least he is safe and sound.

DERA ISMAIL KHAN, Pakistan —  Pakistan's Taliban chief Baitullah Mehsud, who led a violent campaign of homicide attacks and assassinations against the Pakistani government, has been killed in a U.S. missile strike, a militant commander and aide to Mehsud said Friday.

Earlier, Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi told reporters in Islamabad that intelligence showed Mehsud had been killed in Wednesday's missile strike on his father-in-law's house in Pakistan's lawless tribal area, but authorities would travel to the site to verify his death.

Pakistani and U.S. intelligence officials said the CIA was behind the strike. All spoke on condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the matter.

WASHINGTON -- Top White House officials counseled Democratic senators Thursday on coping with disruptions at public events on health care this summer, officials said, and promised the party and allies would respond with twice the force if any individual lawmaker is criticized in television advertising.

These officials also told skittish senators that fresh polling suggests an emphasis on issues such as barring insurers from denying coverage on the basis of pre-existing medical conditions is a political winner, able to increase support among independents, women, seniors and rural voters.

The officials spoke on condition of anonymity, saying they were not authorized to discuss details of the closed-door session that took place hours before lawmakers headed to their home states for a monthlong vacation.
