OMG!! He's coming to Ohio to show the Cleveland Clinic how it works!!
I heard that, and no kidding he has the best health care, and so does congress.
I call intimidation!!!! Go to Walter Reed and show them how its done. I heard they needed some housecleaning. Start at home!!!
Unfortunately, for many military people living in the Washington DC area - Walter Reed is closing, leaving a lot of us Active Duty Military and Retired Military waiting in longer lines trying to get into NNMC Bethesda. I believe they should have gone in and cleaned house at Walter Reed but not closed the facility. BTW - The military health system was already used as a guinea pig during the Clinton Administration - thanks Hilary. When my husband went into the military back the 70s, he was promised military health care for him and his family for the rest of his life, as part of his pay/benefits. The Clinton Administration changed that. We now have to pay for Tricare (military health insurance) and also pay co-pays and ASI (insurance for disasters like long care, i.e., chemotherapy, lifesupport, etc.). Getting to see a doctor is a pain in the ass, which is why I haven't been to one for two years. The military community always gets it stuck up their ass first, when democrats are in the white house. sorry for the rant.
I am on your side on this. I knew about Walter Reed and the hardships the government was putting on the veterans. That's why I said to go there first, and do something about that, and leave the rest of the country alone. We all have enough problems already, and there's lots to be done before they start shredding the rest apart. Take care of the Veterans, O!!

Once-Trendy Crocs Could Be On Their Last Legs
The colorful foam clogs appeared in 2002, just as the country was recovering from a recession.
Brash and bright, they were a cheap investment (about $30) that felt good and promised to last forever. Former president George W. Bush wore them.
Aerosmith lead singer Steven Tyler wore them. Your grandma wore them. They roared along with the economy, mocked by the fashion world but selling 100 million pairs in seven years.
Then the boom times went bust, and Crocs went to the back of the closet.
The company had expanded to meet demand, but financially pressed customers cut back.
Last year the company lost $185.1 million
, slashed roughly 2,000 jobs and scrambled to find money to pay down millions in debt. Now it's stuck with a surplus of shoes, and its auditors have wondered if it can stay afloat. It has until the end of September to pay off its debt.
"The company's toast," said Damon Vickers, who manages an investment fund at Nine Points Capital Partners in Seattle. "They're zombie-ish. They're dead and they don't know it."
Two summers ago, Nancy Fisher of the District bought two pairs of Crocs, one green and one pink, for her daughters. The girls, now 8 and 12, wore them constantly and even got charms to decorate the tops. This year, the shoes are forgotten.
"They were their go-to," Fisher said, "and now they're just really interested in flip-flops."

Evidence found in the report relies in part on documents provided by former ACORN employees.
"Operationally, ACORN is a shell game played in 120 cities, 43 states and the District of Columbia through a complex structure designed to conceal illegal activities, to use taxpayer and tax-exempt dollars for partisan political purposes, and to distract investigators," the report read.
"Structurally, ACORN is a chess game in which senior management is shielded from accountability by multiple layers of volunteers and compensated employees who serve as pawns to take the fall for every bad act."
I have been reading up on Rep Darrell Issa. (R ca) Seems he is a bit of a loose cannon himself.

Agree. The Clinton Administration was never willing to put any money towards renovations at Walter Reed. Funding was cut in every direction - facilities, equipment, manpower. No wonder it had so many problems. The government would rather fund more social programs and keep more people on welfare so they can sit around and have more babies and live off the people who actually try to make a decent living.
O doesn't give a crap about the military. Most democratic administrations don't.
Thanks for letting me rant everyone.

Fanny - how was the bread the other night?
How was the zucchini?
The bread and the Zuchinni were both wonderful!! We even liked zuchinni fried, and we ate all of it. I don't grow it, but friends give it to us all the time.
I do have a breadcrumb problem. I toasted some french bread, and have tried to make breadcrumbs with it. I have three different size food processors, and have tried them all. I end up with breadcrumb in the bottom, but bigger pieces on the top. I even tried the rolling pin method. How do you do it?? Do you use a blender. I have a blender, but we use it for making frozen drinks as it has a spigot on the bottom. I haven't tried to use that yet for the crumbs. But I will, if I have to. Suggestions?

I never did buy any of these shoes. I can't imagine losing $185 million - didn't they see the writing on the wall - wasn't there any warning that sales were slowing down?

Nite Monkeys. On my way to watch Eastenders, figure skating or Lawrence Welk.
Not Lawrence Welk
Do you really like that show, I remember that show being on when I was young, and had no choice but to watch it. Have a good night
Eastenders is a good show.
I do like Lawerence Welk No Rose. Reminds me of my Grandmother.
Good morning monkeys and guests.
JSM, Lawrence Welk looked like you grandmother????
No I used to watch it with my grandmother Silly.
I was kidding you. My daddy would never miss a show, and even when they went to syndication, he would come into the house several times a day, when they would be on different channels. Lawence Welk is in my blood. Occassionally I watch a rerun for old times sake.
I watch it on Sundays, except when it cuts in to the Polka show on the radio.
My Mom loved Lawrence Welk. Her favourite was Gaby Haas though. He was considered Mr. Polka up here. He later toured as Gaby Haas and the Barn Dance Gang. A few years back we took my mom with us on vacation to Manitou Lake so that we could take her to the Rainbow Danceland which is a huge barn built in the 40's complete with horsehair under the dance floor. They had a Gaby Haas tribute band.
That sounds like a good time.
