I have a story Captain    My youngest daughter works for a management company, she was talking to another person, I guess to long for the other person, who got mad and threw all the papers in his hands in my daughter's face. The other man ran after him and told him, when you live in the US you don't get mad and throw stuff in people's faces. I guess that was better than when a couple months ago a man picked up her phone and threw it at her. I swear people are just going nuts
I have a doctor that threw x-ray films at me one time, I threw them right back at him.  He is my bestest friend now!
Well at least that ended okay. I worry that the wrong crazy person is going to come in one day.

My daughter and her hubby just purchased a storm door from Lowe's and paid to have it installed.   He took his laptop home from the office and met the contracted installer at the house.   Confident that Lowe's had gotten the order correct, her hubby was inside the house working while the installer did his magic.   Well, once the dude was done, her hubby had to sign off on the work order - but discovered that the door was WHITE and not ALMOND as they had ordered.    Her hubby calls Lowes and lets them know that the dude installed the wrong color door and Lowe's YELLS AT HIM for not realizing the door was the wrong color before it was installed.  LOL.     The Nerve!    Why didn't Lowe's get their order straight in the first place.    geez....

My best pal, A tex-mexican guy, charges about $200 a day.  He came down to Cocoa Beach with me a few times and stayed with us at my folks house.  He painted the interior.  Before we came down I told my folks to put their scale by the front door so we could weigh him in and out before we came back to Chicago, just to make sure there was no silver or gold missing.        Monkey Devil!

Senate Confirms Sonia Sotomayor to U.S. Supreme Court
The Senate voted Thursday to confirm Sonia Sotomayor to the U.S. Supreme Court on a 68-31 vote.

The Senate voted Thursday to confirm Sonia Sotomayor as the first Hispanic Justice on the U.S. Supreme Court in a 68-31 vote.

In a rare step of assembling at their desks on the Senate floor for the historic occasion, senators voted to confirm Sotomayor as the 111th justice and third woman to serve on the high court.

Democratic senators praised Sotomayor as a mainstream moderate while Republicans said she'd bring personal bias and a liberal agenda to the bench in a final day of debate over her nomination.

On Thursday, 59 Democrats voted for Sotomayor while 31 Republicans voted against her.  The nine Senate Republicans who voted to confirm her were Sens. George Voinovich of Ohio, Judd Gregg of New Hampshire, Kit Bond of Missouri, Lindsey Graham of South Carolina, Susan Collins of Maine, Olympia Snowe of Maine, Mel Martinez of Florida, Richard Lugar of Indiana and Lamar Alexander of Tennessee.

The vote fell between the last two votes for the two Supreme Court justices nominated by former President George W. Bush. Chief Justice John Roberts earned 78 votes in his confirmation while Samuel Alito garnered 58 votes.

Sotomayor will be sworn in Saturday at the U.S. Supreme Court. Roberts will first administer the constitutional oath in a private ceremony in the Justices' conference room attended by members of Sotomayor's family. Roberts will then administer the judicial oath.

Thanks, I guess that was a given with Sotomayor. I'm mixed up with the Anthony and a book deal, I guess they don't have a book deal, or at least with S and S?

Top Democrat denounces health care protests
<snipped>

WASHINGTON – The Senate's most powerful Democrat on Thursday scolded health care protesters dogging his party's lawmakers at local meetings, arguing that some critics on the political right have run out of ideas — and ditched their civic manners. Majority Leader Harry Reid of Nevada accused the protesters of trying to "sabotage" the democratic process.

A small group of lawmakers blocked out the fevered rhetoric and vowed to keep pursuing an elusive bipartisan deal on a broad remaking of the health care system. With encouragement from President Barack Obama and business leaders, the group reported progress on financing an overhaul. But as polls show Obama's approach losing favor with voters — particularly independents — Democrats are talking more openly about the possibility of moving legislation without Republican support.

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia —  A Malaysian teacher forced a student to smoke 42 cigarettes in two hours as punishment after finding the boy had a cigarette and lighter, a news report said Thursday.
A school official confirmed that the English teacher subjected the student to the unusual punishment but said the teenager was made to smoke fewer than 42 cigarettes. He declined to elaborate.

He said the teacher was upset when she found that her model student had a cigarette and a lighter in his locker in the school in the northern island of Langkawi.

The boy also smelled of cigarettes, said a school official, who spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to speak to the press. He said the school apologized to the boy's uncle, who lodged a police report when he found out about the punishment.

"This is not normal. We don't do that often," the official said.

He said it was up to the state's education department to take action against the teacher, but officials there could not be immediately reached Thursday.

Police on Langkawi could not be reached for comment.

The New Straits Times daily quoted the 16-year-old boy as saying he was made to smoke 42 cigarettes — four at a time for more than two hours. The punishment was witnessed by other teachers and students.

In 2007, another Malaysian teacher was reprimanded after she made almost 140 teenage girls squat in a pond at a boarding school as punishment for clogging the toilets.

The punishment caused an outcry, leading to Malaysia's Education Ministry to announce it would issue specific guidelines on how teachers should discipline students.

The government permits boys to be whipped with a rattan cane in schools for such offenses as smoking, vandalism and harming others.

N.J. State Police Bomb Squad Remove Potential Explosives From Car

Thursday, August 06, 2009

New Jersey authorities say they have removed a package believed to contain potentially unstable explosives from a car parked at a home in Hammonton.

Police acting on a tip that there were potentially dangerous explosives in a vehicle went to the residence in the southern New Jersey community about 3 p.m.

Neighbors in a two-block area around the home were evacuated as bomb squad members evaluated the situation.

Maddy Vitale, spokeswoman for the Atlantic County prosecutor's office, said state police bomb squad members removed a package from the car shortly before 7 p.m. and were taking it to an undisclosed location to detonate it.

It was not immediately known what type of explosives were involved or what prompted someone to call police.

Fear or Loathing: Democrats Raise Specter of Swastikas to Cancel Town Halls
Democrats and the White House say the rowdy health care protests in the country are largely orchestrated from afar by insurers, lobbyists, Republican Party activists and others -- but Republicans deny any role in organizing them.

FOXNews.com

Thursday, August 06, 2009
<snipped>
In a rhetorical argument that is unlikely to yield any winners, Democratic lawmakers and their opponents in the health care debate have descended into a war of words over the symbols of Nazi Germany.

Town hall audiences and conservative bloggers protesting a Democratic-sponsored bill on health care reform have used the disturbing imagery to compare the plan championed by President Obama to how the Nazis treated prisoners in concentration camps.

Supporters have turned around and suggested the angry "mobs" are reminiscent of Adolf Hitler's blind followers. Some lawmakers say they have canceled public meetings because they fear for their lives.

But an axiom in political strategy states that whoever uses the Hitler comparison generally doesn't win the debate -- unless he's participating in a debate about Nazis.

Replacing a town hall meeting for a conference call in his district, Rep. Brian Baird, D-Wash., on Thursday compared his constituents' behavior to Nazi-era adherents.

"What we're seeing right now is close to Brown Shirt tactics," Baird told a local newspaper. "I mean that very seriously."
