Desparate search for missing girl, Lindsey Baum
McCleary, WA. Lindsey Baum was walking home from a friend's house in the small town of McCleary, Washington on June 26, 2009 when she disappeared. “It's like she literally vanished,” said Melissa Baum, Lindsey's mother.

Despite extensive, well coordinated searches by law enforcement, Lindsey is still missing. Lindsey's mother has called on two national non-profit organizations, the KlaasKIDS Foundation and Laura Recovery Center (LRC), to organize a community volunteer search.

Brad Dennis, Director of Search Operations for the KlaasKIDS Foundation said they will be holding a community meeting at 7pm Thursday, August 27, 2009 at the McCleary Community Center.  Community members are encouraged to attend and learn about the two organizations and plans for the weekend search. The McCleary Community Center is located at 726 W. Simpson Ave, McCleary, Washington 98577.

Individuals who would like to participate in the search for Lindsey should check in at the McCleary Community Center between the hours of 9 am and 4:30 pm on Friday, August 28th. Volunteers must be 18 years of age or older and bring photo identification. “Dress appropriately for the weather, wear long pants and sturdy, covered toe shoes. We need people who can do foot searches as well as individuals who are willing to work in the search center explained Dennis.  Volunteers are not required to attend the community meeting. In addition, we are looking for donations of bottled water, office supplies and the use of a copier.”

For more information about the search or information on how you can donate supplies, volunteers can call the LRC toll free number 866-898-5723.

The KlaasKIDS Foundation is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization determined to stop crimes against children and assists families of missing children. Please visit www.klaaskids.org for more information.

Now lets see the people of McCleary and surrounding areas step up and go help the search instead of trying to hinder it.

The KlaasKids Foundation is organizing a search in McCleary for Lindsey Baum, who has been missing for two months.

Lindsey, 11, last was seen in McCleary after 9 p.m. June 26, after she left a friend’s home on Maple Street by herself to walk about a half-mile to her home on Mommsen Road.

Despite a massive search, police have been unable to find Lindsey or say definitively whether she was abducted.

KlaasKids Foundation representatives will hold a community meeting at 7 p.m. Thursday in McCleary at the McCleary Community Center.

The McCleary Community Center is at 726 W. Simpson Ave.

KlaasKids spokeswoman Tricia Griffith said the search will start at 9 a.m. Friday. People who want to help should check in at the McCleary Community Center between 9 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. that day. Volunteers must be 18 or older and must bring photo identification.

Volunteers are advised to dress appropriately for the weather, wear long pants and wear sturdy, closed-toe shoes.

The KlaasKids Foundation was established by Marc Klaas in 1994 to stop crimes against children after the kidnapping and murder of his 12-year-old daughter, Polly Hannah Klaas. She was taken from her home in Petaluma, Calif.

Maybe the speculation is that Lindsey Baum had a chance meeting with her killer  between 5th on Maple ... the last confirmed sighting of the little girl and ... her home?  Could it be that Lindsey's remains will be located in that area covered by debris or foilage?

I do not know.  Just speculating.

Hopefully ... in the process of elimination ... the search next Friday will concentrate on those properties as well as the Shell station.

THE SHELL STATION - THE BIKE

Following the confirmed sighting on 15th and Maple … did Lindsey Baum stop at the Shell Station on her way home to see if her bike had been retrived by her brother following the argument.  Could there have been a chance meeting with Josh?  Were station employees there?

When you consider the argument between Lindsey and Josh ... I cannot comprehend why authorities did not consider the bike as possible evidence.  According to Kara Kampen ... the bike remained at the Shell station for two or three days.  I wonder who picked up the bike ... authorities or ... Josh or Melissa Baum.

Bike was left behind Shell, fight took place on Maple where neighbour sent Josh away.

Where did he go from there?
Who picked up the bike as it was left at the Shell?
Did he go straight home and was anyone there?
Was he home at 9:15 - 9:30?

1) I can't answer the first one because I was told he went home but was not there myself.
2) The bike stayed at the Shell station. It was not picked up until 2 to 3 days after.
3) Josh's mom was home but again for the same reason as 1 I can not factually say he went straight home.
4) ?

I don't either, this entire case is so frustrating, and I sure hope they get a lot of searchers. Again, something is just off with all of this    Hope you had a good vacation with your grandchildren at Disneyland.

Expert: Missing girl likely went with someone she knew
09:58 PM PDT on Wednesday, July 1, 2009

A national expert helping in the search for 10-year-old Lindsey Baum says someone Lindsey knew might be responsible for her disappearance. Baum vanished while walking home from a friend’s house Friday around 9 p.m.

""Based on the information I have, it’s someone she possibly knows or is in the area, not outside the area," said Henry Schmidt, with the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children..

Schmidt, a retired sheriff from Wyoming, arrived in McCleary to assist with the search Sunday.

so are they saying she left on her own will?  even if she did that is not her choice to make and very irresponsible of whomever 'helped' her.  and even if she did know the person that doesn't mean they didn't do anything bad to her.  even if she got in a car with someone she knew she is still missing.  i'm not venting at you (Janet)  i just really don't understand.
1) she left on her own (she didn't do it by herself she's 11)
2) she left with someone in a car (did know them) they are still kidnappers
3) she left with someone in a car (didn't know them) they are kidnappers

so she's hiding in someones house?  her body is hidden in someones house?

i don't understand

Welcome back Janet
Happy to hear you had a good time.

Thanks Karma.

  an angelic monkey

It really is "a small world after all".  I met up with a former co-worker in line for one of the rides ... a former co-worker I have not spoken to in almost a year.  Procrastination is a very bad thing.  Anyways ... she returned from her California/Oregon Coast trip on Friday and ... we met for lunch yesterday and ... caught up on the events in our lives over the past year.  Her life has been so much more exciting than mine.

I may break that cycle and bungie jump along with my nephew when I take a trip over to Vancouver Island next week.

Then again I may not.

I hope Monkeys all had a good day.
