Just caught the very end of a short statement that said Robert's death was not an accident. It was a homicide they will be working on the case to find who killed him.

Kerns on Manwill homicide: "We will find out who did this"

06:07 PM MDT on Wednesday, August 5, 2009
BOISE - After days of repetitive information and little to go on, the tone from Boise Police Deputy Chief Jim Kerns changed Wednesday.  The death of 8-year-old Robert Manwill is a homicide.

“We will find out who did this, and we will hold them accountable,” Kerns said.

Hours after the Ada County Coroner released a positive identification on the body of Robert Manwill, found in a Kuna canal Monday, Kerns stepped before the microphones and made a short statement.

“Preliminary results from the autopsy give us reason to believe that the death of Robert Manwill was not an accident,” he said.

Kerns seemed almost angry in his tone.

“Justice will not be denied for Robert Manwill,” he said.

He also said there is no evidence that Manwill is the victim of any type of abduction, but he would not detail if the department has any suspects in the case.

“Our justice system demands criminal investigations be thorough and methodical”

Thanks, the conference was so short that I only caught the very end and then the announcer summed it up. This looks bad, no accident and no abduction.......

Nancy has yet to cover Robert's case in depth, but it the body has been confirmed as Robert's so

Right now NG is covering a case of an exhausted mother dealing with an unruly child inside of a store. If every single moment of my life was recorded by cameras I'd be in jail myself for some of things I've done.

I'm not a parent, but children are exhausting. I've had people cut their eyes at me when I wouldn't quiet one of my nieces inside of a store (that was already noisy). Sometimes you just give up, like this mother did. I don't think she should've been arrested.

That's just my opinion. I don't condone child abuse, but IMO this wasn't child abuse. Not even close.

There are alternatives to dragging a child along on the floor with a leash.
Couldn't the Mother has used a shopping cart to put the little boy in?

do you think they think its more than two people because he said that they "will hold those responsible"... just seeing the news conference, its sooo clear that they pretty much know what happened.  ugh, this is such a sin..

as far as the 7 year old little girl witness, i believe it to be credible.  and the 7 30 pm timeline sounds like it could be accurate as well.
