I came across this in a comment section at the Boise Idaho Statesman someone left and I really liked it. I thought I would share:

Pink Let us and everyone Pray for Robert

This poor child has a family of  issues and horrible pasts ..

May he not become another boy/male/child lost within the Media ..like Adji.
Missing Boys are not the same in the eye of Media, it is sad but true.

Let him be found quickly and returned Safely.
I am praying for him. Little guy has been through enough in 8 yrs.

Amen, Deenie.

Little boys are rarely afforded the media attention little girls are and if you are a child of color...you are afforded even less. It's not right or fair.

Lighting a candle and saying a prayer for Robert and for all the searchers out there looking for him overnight and all day tomorrow.

Police search home of Manwill's mother

11:15 PM MDT on Thursday, July 30, 2009

KTVB

A crime lab worker loads items taken from the home of Robert Manwill's mother into a van late Thursday night.

BOISE - Police investigators are currently searching the apartment of the mother of a boy who went missing nearly a week ago.

Officers began searching the home of Robert's Manwill's mother - Melissa Scott Jenkins - just after 8 p.m. Thursday night.

Boise Police spokesperson Lynn Hightower was tight-lipped, and would only say the search is "another step in the investigation."

Police tape has been strung up around the area, and residents are being told police may be in the area for some time.

Reporter Scott Evans says that cabinets and drawers were being taken from the home, among other items. A woman with "crime lab" on her uniform was seen removing boxes of items from the home while wearing gloves - and loading the boxes into a van on scene.

Ada County Dispatchers initially said there was nothing going on at the apartment complex, but our crews on the scene confirmed otherwise.

A large-scale search is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. Friday, and is will still go forward according to Hightower. Details here. Police say they hope these developments will not tamp down support for the search, and they say the search is still an important part of finding Manwill.

Police have not identified anyone as a suspect in the case, nor have they given any indication of wrongdoing.

This is a breaking news story and will be updated.

Whoa, I wish this had been done earlier in the week. But sounds like something major is going on considering the "time of night" they went in to do this.

Police search boy’s mother’s apartment

Bryan Dooley

Updated 34 minutes ago

BOISE — Boise police took new action in the search for missing 8-year-old Robert Manwill late Thursday night by searching the boy's mother's apartment, according to witnesses at the scene.

Police tape blocked off the apartment complex near the intersection of West Cherry Lane and Shoshone Street.

Neighbors said they saw investigators removing items from the apartment of Melissa Scott Jenkins. The boy had been staying at Jenkins' apartment before he went missing Friday evening, police said.

Stephanie Whittington, who lives in the complex, said officers had been coming downstairs carrying paper bags.

"I don't know what was in them," she said.

Emilee Jones, who was at the scene, said the investigators were dressed in sterile-type clothing — hair nets, gloves and booties — and carried boxes and bags. She added that some carried blankets upstairs toward Jenkins' apartment.

Just before midnight, a group of investigators from the Boise Police Department and the FBI remained at the scene. The Idaho Statesman reported earlier this week that Jenkins is on probation for fracturing the skull of the boy's infant half brother, who was removed from her custody by the state.

Boise police officials have stressed that they have no suspects and provided few details about what took place Thursday night.

"There's another investigative step being taken tonight," spokeswoman Lynn Hightower said.

Hightower said she could not provide any further information, but that the massive volunteer search effort planned for today is still scheduled to take place.

Officials have asked anyone who is able to help search for Manwill today.

Police search Manwill's mom's apartment late Thursday night
Friday's search will go on as planned, police say

A law enforcement officer carries two paper bags from the apartment of Melissa Scott Jenkins, the mother of missing 8-year-old Robert Manwill, to a van during a search of Jenkins' apartment late Thursday night.

A search dog named "Kiwi" searches the grounds of the Oak Park Village Apartments late Thursday night, where where 8-year-old Robert Manwill went missing last week. The handlers of "Kiwi" wouldn't answer questions about their activities at the complex.

Boise police and other law enforcement officials searched the apartment where 8-year-old Robert Manwill’s mother, Melissa Scott Jenkins, lives late Thursday night.

Police said they could not comment on the nature of the investigation, but about a dozen officers, including K-9s, were searching the apartment off Vista Avenue and the surrounding area. Forensic investigators also were involved.

The late-night investigation won’t affect the massive search planned for Friday, police officials said.

I am sure they looked casually through the house the first night. In order to do a forensic search and remove stuff, they need probable cause and they need a warrant. They must have both now.

They took away a vehicle too.

I am sure doing it this time of night avoids some of the media and the looky loos.

BOISE – Police thoroughly searched the apartment complex where Robert Manwill disappeared, putting up police tape and removing items from his home.

Just after 8 p.m. on Thursday, detectives started searching the complex; including the apartment belonging to Robert’s mom.

Police would not say what they were searching for, what they removed, or why the search is happening now. However, it has been confirmed that K-9 units were brought in to help with the investigation.

The CBS 2 crew on scene at the time took video in which you can see that black lights were used to search at least one area and a red car was removed from the complex.

I was thinking, wow, something big is happening,” said Tammi Jackson, a neighbor at the complex. “…all the residents here have been really involved in what’s been going on because they’ve been inspecting our homes and asking questions.”

Residents were able to come and go from the complex, but had to show their I-D’s to officers.

Police would not say where Robert’s family is right now or if anyone was home at the time of the search.

Officials continue to stress the massive search today is still on, as scheduled, and that these latest developments are part of the on-going investigation to find Robert.

KBOI is reporting live from the Jr. High search staging area. (1 of 3) It's 8:30 am and already their looks to be about 100 people lining up to search at 9:00. He said a steady stream of new cars are arriving. He talked to one gentleman that was in Boise on vacation and heard about it on the news and decided to help search today.

500 searchers at Hillcrest location alone, they were sending new people arriving there over to the Jr. High location. No problem finding the 1000 searchers says the reporter from KBOI.

::nods:: me too.
It breaks my heart. I so wanted to be wrong!

I am still holding out hope and praying that we could all be wrong. I will until he is found.

Robert needs to be found though, no matter what the outcome.

Bless this community for showing up for this little guy.

Massive search for missing Boise boy begins Friday morning; hundreds volunteer
Statesman staff - Idaho Statesman
Published: 07/31/09

Volunteers are heading out from three staging areas Friday morning for what police expect to be an unprecedented search for a missing Boise boy.

Eight-year-old Robert Manwill disappeared last Friday night from the area around his mother's apartment off Vista Avenue and Targee Street.

Area police, the FBI and more than 100 volunteers have searched throughout the week.

Volunteers are leaving South Junior High in groups of 20 or 30 — each group gets an officer to lead it and each individual has been issued a vest, a wristband, a flier with information and a map. They are processing people very smoothly.

At least 200 people came to both South and Garfield Elementary. Search organizers are encouraging people who plan to help out throughout the day to dress for the heat and bring water. The temperature in Boise is expected to reach about 96 degrees Friday, according to the National Weather Service.

Sgt. Greg Oster, the officer in charge at Garfield, told the crowd there was no way officers could do this without their help. He thanked them for following the ground rules (no one under 18, no dogs, no strollers).

The reason they're being adamant about the age requirement, he said, was that they didn't want to put a child in the position of finding evidence that something bad had happened.

A family member called for a prayer at Garfield and a volunteer from a church led it.

The groups are being told that they are only searching public areas — alleys, streets, parks — not private property. They are specifically looking for Robert or any items that could lead to his location — such as clothing or personal effects.

At South, family members were making green ribbons and handing them out.

Well over 1000 people showed up, so many that they didn't have enough team leaders. Asking people to come back for the noon or three p.m. shift.

BOISE - Authorities are asking the public's help in a massive search for missing 8-year-old Robert Manwill on Friday.

On Friday morning, too many volunteers showed up to the Hillcrest and Garfield Elementary locations. They're being asked by police to come back at noon to help look.

"This is a one day push," said Jim Kerns, Boise Police deputy chief. "The time is now for new volunteers."

"Robert is still missing," Kerns said. "(The effort to find him) is a tremendous commitment to the citizens of this city."

Vista neighbors join in search for Robert Manwill in Boise
As Boise police launch a huge search, residents and businesses pitch in to help find the missing 8-year-old.

After a community picnic on Saturday night, Vista neighbors went to the police roadblock on Vista Avenue to see if they could help search for 8-year-old Robert Manwill, who had been missing since the night before.

In the week since, local businesses also have jumped in to help, sending lunches and water to Boise police officers, FBI agents and volunteers. Cutright Care Lawn Service has sent out fliers of the missing boy with its bills, and Domino's pizza delivery folks are handing out fliers with pizzas, said neighborhood activist Kim Bentley, who has lived in the Vista neighborhood for 15 years.

"It's bringing the community together," Bentley said. "People who wouldn't normally talk to a police officer - it's brought citizens and police together."

Vista neighbors will join with volunteers from as far away as New Plymouth on Friday as the Boise Police Department launches a search in which at least 1,000 volunteers will converge on the neighborhood on the Boise Bench. The search could be the biggest in the department's history.

Neighbors initially were shocked to hear that Manwill was missing because crime has been low in the last few years, said Boise police Officer Lance Nickerson, the neighborhood contact officer.

"I've worked this neighborhood for more than 10 years, and I still think it's a great place to live," he said.

Before Manwill went missing, children, including his son Cayden Wells, 5, played in the street together, said Travis Wells, who has lived in the neighborhood for two months after moving from Pocatello. "For something like this to happen, it's scary. Now there are no kids in the street."

Bentley has been out four or five times looking for the boy since he was reported missing. On a recent morning around 7, she and a friend walked over to a storage area to check it out.

"A man came out and asked us what we were doing," she said. "We told him we were looking for Robert. He let us go wherever we wanted."
