BOISE - A Boise mother has been arrested for allegedly seriously injuring her infant child last year.

Boise Police says they were called to a local hospital in October on a suspicious injury to a child call. Investigators determined that on the previous day a child under the age of one at the time had been injured at a East Boise home.

Authorities say the boy received what appeared to be serious head injuries during the incident. The child was turned over to the custody of State Health and Welfare.

After a detailed investigation, detectives forwarded the case to the Ada County Prosecutor's office for review.

On Tuesday, Ada County deputies arrested the infant's mother, Melissa Jenkins, 29, for the felony injury to a child warrant.

Does anyone think this is the same person? I do not know how to post side by side screen shots so you would need to view pinkangels original link to the video of Robert's mother to compare with the above. There is a picture of this Melissa in my link below.

I just watched the HLN report on this. They said the boy was not going to a party...that was false reporting.

The boy was last seen on the complex's playground after 7 p.m. Friday night and was gone by 9 p.m. Though some initial reports indicated the boy had wanted to go to a birthday party, police said they had no evidence of that.

I really think these two "melissa's" are one of the same and this scares the hell out of me if so. If you pause the video of the mother the faces are almost identical, same nose, chin etc.

Police will update public on search for missing boy at 7 p.m. press conference

BOISE, Idaho — The search for 8-year-old Robert Manwill continued Monday, on several fronts:
— A National Guard helicopter covered as much ground as the boy could have wandered on his own.
— Officers, FBI agents and some 100 volunteers canvassed the area around the Vista Boulevard neighborhood the boy disappeared from, including the areas around the New York Canal and nearby railroad tracks.
Police will update the media and public at a 7 p.m. press conference Monday night. Check back at IdahoStatesman.com for the latest information after that.

This forum has educated me about a lot of things -- many of which I have passed on to people in my little rural corner of the world.
But this Amber Alert needs to be changed or something else needs to be in its place that will become as well known.  Does anyone have any suggestions how we could begin to make this happen?

I thought it was odd also (If the same person) that in all the articles I read, there were no mention of any other children taken from the home either. In one of the articles I read about this March 2009 case the article referred to "Melissa Scott Jenkins".

I did pause the video for this case of the mother in several places and it sure looks like the same person to me though I hope it isn't.  Time will tell. I also saw the fathers name (of Robert) is Charles Manwill but can not locate anything on him.

The first picture I posted of her, where she is standing in front of the house didn't really look like her but it was an odd angle and her hair wasn't pulled back. She also looks older in that picture.

The news conference screen capture though convinced me, Nut.

Oh, geez this is not good!!! Thanks Pink for finding that new picture. I guess the media (if the same person) either has no clue of this or they have been asked not to print Moms prior history in fear of it affecting the on going search.

On the upside I am glad the FBI is involved. With all that has happened this year for once I am hoping for good news for a change.

It makes you wonder if it the are one in the same why did Charles Manwill (dad) not file for custody of his son after she had been charged for abusing the infant.

03-04-09 Felony injury to a child warrant arrest


Boise March 4th, 2009 - On Tuesday (March 3rd) Ada County Deputies arrested a Boise woman on a Felony injury to a child warrant. The Warrant stems from a Boise City case that began last year.
 
Warrant Arrest: Melissa S Jenkins, 29, Boise
 
Charges: Injurty to a child (F)
 
What happened: On 10/20/2008 at approximately 10:39 PM Boise Police where called to a local hospital on a suspicious injury to a child. Investigators determined that on the previous day a child under the age of one at the time had been injured at a East Boise home. The boy received what appeared to be serious head injuries during the incident. The child was taken on imminent danger and turned over to the custody of State Health and Welfare. After a detailed investigation detectives forwarded the case to the Ada County Prosecutors Office for review. Yesterday (March 3rd) Ada County Deputies arrested a Boise woman, the mother of the child, on the Felony injury to a child warrant.

Boise mom arrested after son's head injury

Melissa S. Jenkins, 29, turned herself in at the Ada County Jail Tuesday, hours after a warrant was issued for her arrest on a charge of felony injury to child.
Jenkins' 8-month-old son suffered a fractured skull in October and is in the custody of the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare, Boise police reports. The child was taken to the hospital one day after he was injured, police said.
