as i have mentioned previously on this board, i used to work for child protective services and i can tell you that 90% of the reason i left the job was because of the moral dilemma i had when i saw abused children being returned to their parents by the courts because the parents were believed to be "rehabilitated" and the most important thing was to "perserve the family unit."

based on the information we have been given so far and the criminal backgrounds of the individuals involved in roberts life, and the hospitalization of the mothers boyfriend, i actually believe that the mother did something to hurt robert and ended up killing him, and the boyfriend helped her cover it up and had a breakdown about it and he was hospitalized because of that.

i think the mother and boyfriend both need to be locked up. some people should not be allowed to have children.

To say that child protective services needs a complete overhaul seems like an understatement  I'm wondering if the boyfriend attempted suicide?

I doubt it. They don't treat and release the same day for a suicide attempt. They usually hold you for at least 72 hours.

I agree about our court system. Overhaul is an understatement. No one is protecting these children. They give them back too soon or in cases where they should never be returned. They give visits when none should be allowed. They let parents who abuse off with a slap on the wrist and some "parenting classes".

It makes me so angry and I see it time and time again.

In another development, Ada County Sheriff's deputies staked out an area at the Hidden Hollow Landfill this afternoon. Police tape now marks off about one-half acre. A crime lab vehicle was at the scene.

Sheriff's spokeswoman Andrea Dearden says the deputies are assisting Boise Police in this investigation. At this point, they are just watching the area, no officers have been seen combing through any garbage.

A spokesman for Allied Waste says the trash in the marked off area came from the Oak Park Apartments, where the Manwills lived. It was dumped there on Saturday, the day after Robert disappeared.

A short time later, that same crime lab vehicle was parked outside at home on Southdale Avenue, just outside the Boise city limits. That's near the vicinity of Five Mile and Lake Hazel roads. Police are converging at that location.

The family that rents the home told us they know Robert, and that their Chevy Suburban was stolen last week. It has been retrieved but may now be part of this investigation.

Boise Police spokeswoman Lynn Hightower says deputies are on the scene to make sure the area is preserved for investigators. They don't want any possible evidence to become tainted. What that evidence may be, police are not saying at this point.

I'm praying Fanny, just a little sad that a tiny boy has been missing and he was with his "mother" that had already bashed in a tiny baby's head.

My friend is going to court on Monday to get custodial rights of her nephew, no abuse, just neglect and drug addiction on the parent's part. My friend has been through h*ll with CPS wanting the kids to see their parents, etc. And it angers me to no end that Robert's mother had any contact with this little boy with her past history.
