I don't think the man that they interviewed had anything to do with Robert's death. I think he may be covering for mom's BF though. jmo

Family is not there. Are secluded together.

At 1:28 the call came in. As Ada County was responding to the call, another call came in saying they also seen a body.

One of those citizens dived in the canal and pulled the body out after seeing it in the canal.

Another question, JSM doesn't know what a canal is, is it like a river? Does it flow fast or is it just for irrigation? We have a canal, but it is for looks only and it doesn't really move unless there is a storm. TIA JSM

These canals are used for irrigation for the crops of potatoes and sugar beets that are grown in the area. The water flows from the mountain areas, and is usually not very fast flowing unless there is heavy snowfall melt or sometimes rain. As I said yesterday, this is a "high desert" climate, mostly dry. JMO

The search for Robert Manwill: No ID on body, but same age and size of Manwill, police say

Deputy Chief Jim Kerns said that so far Monday officials don't have a positive ID on the body found in a canal between Boise and Kuna.

"I can tell you that the body is of a young boy, approximately the same age and size of Robert Manwill," he said.

He said after a citizen called after 1 p.m. to report the body, the first Ada County officer on the scene jumped into the canal and pulled the body out.

The Ada County Coroner is trying to identify the body of the boy, which was found in the New York canal between Boise and Kuna near Cloverdale Road and Hubbard Road.

Boise police postponed a 2 p.m. press conference scheduled update the more than a weeklong investigation in to the disappearance of the 8-year-old while investigators worked to determine whether this is connected.

The canal is about two miles southwest of a home Boise police searched Friday night — but it's also the same canal that runs less than half a mile south of the Vista Avenue apartment complex from which Manwill was reported missing.

A canal company worker said it would be possible for a body to travel from where the canal passes Vista Avenue to where a body was found Monday.
