Remembering Robert Manwill

In the summer of 2009 Robert’s case captured the attention of our community. His body was found in an irrigation canal about a week after his disappearance that had sparked a massive community search across the valley.
His mother and her boyfriend were eventually convicted of his disappearance and death.
   
Now the positive news: Robert lived in New Plymouth and that town will come out in force to remember the youngster and work toward making us all much more aware of child abuse.
This is the positive news that I learned about this week on the News at Noon.
 
It’s the Artists for Kids/Robert Manwill Event to be held April 20th, 2013 in New Plymouth.
 
The day will begin at Kiwanis Park in New Plymouth with the Manwill Mile at 10am for local children in kindergarten through 5th grade followed by the 5K Robert's Run at 10:30 for all ages. Because online registration is not available for this year's race, registration forms for the 5K may be downloaded from the New Plymouth Running Club FB page.  Forms can be mailed in advance or individuals may register the morning of the race from 9-10am. Advance individual registration is $20 or $15 per person if you are on a team of at least 5 runners. Registration the day of the race is $25.
* The Senior Center will be hosting a BBQ from 11am-1pm
* The Artists for Kids/Robert Manwill auction will begin at 6pm.
*100% of the profits from the sale of the artwork will go directly into a scholarship fund in Robert Manwill's name.
