Dallas girl, 12, held for aggravated sex assault against 4 younger children

What happens when children commit crimes against other children?  And I wonder how many times something like this happens or even worse and it's never reported or brought to light?  Do all of the children get the help they need?  How does this affect their lives with their friends and family and the rest of their lives?

DALLAS — A 12-year-old was in custody as Dallas police investigate allegations she pressured four younger children to perform sex acts on each other.

A judge on Monday ordered the girl to remain in juvenile custody on aggravated sexual assault charges.

The Dallas Morning News reports the family suspects the girl may have been molested years ago by a man her mother knows.

Dallas police say the 12-year-old allegedly told the two girls, who are 5 and 7, and boys, who are 4 and 5, that she would put the in a closet Saturday if they did not perform the sex acts.

One child later told a parent. The 12-year-old was arrested Sunday.

The five children were in the care of the current boyfriend of the 12-year-old's mother.

Dear Lord Muffy, how times have changed.  At 12 -- I wouldn't know what a sex act was.  Our children are exposed to so much these days . . . it's horrible.
