I am so sorry Kat Gram and all my Monkey's are having such Times within  - Ms Kat I hope you read this. Lordy Lord, I went back and read Ms. Kat_Gram's ( surgery) pending.
 My Mother just went through BC two years ago ( almost 2 yrs ago)  she had surgery ( so much detail that I can't even begin to post) she opted to have one of her Breasts removed. She was to be Outpatient ( which is normal in the States) they just do the surgery and send you home. GAWD.  My Brother however was there with her as her advocate and he was a Surgical Tech in the Military and he threatened the staff - basically.
She stayed the Night * which all women should, but they don't - its sick and sad.
If Men had breasts between their legs they would stay for 3 days if not longer.  I don't know how anyone can think that having a breast removed is outpatient surgery.  My Mom though, She was then tested 6wks later and was then put back into surgery to have all her lymph nodes removed from the same side.
I have to tell you Kat Gram my Mom is in her Mid 60's and has survived Cancer not once but 3 times in her lifetime and she is Cancer free today. 
I want you to take out all the Uggh feelings and All the Mental torment ( which I know is reasonable) But you have to let it go and Be able to concentrate on what is now .. And then after the surgery - you have to be strong yet again to re-access. You have to Heal. You have to Be able to Keep your Mind Clear so you can heal and Move Forward.
Believe it or not - Your Going to be Ok.  I am sending you Prayers. My Mom if she knew you - she would give you a huge Hug too.

It's quiet in here tonight. Glad you having a good day. Took grandson to pick up his class list today. To find out all new students didn't have any as something went wrong with their computer program. But got to walk around his new school and look around.  Didn't have to take and get his shots for school as they haven't looked at his shot records from Calif. yet. Said they will give us time to get them after school starts.
