WHITTIER, California (BNO NEWS) — Authorities in Whittier, California issued a statewide Amber Alert on Saturday morning after a girl was abducted from her home on Friday, officials told BNO News.

Thirteen-year-old Cynthia Irene Hernandez was abducted from her Whittier home by her paternal uncle at around 7.30 p.m. local time on Friday evening. “Apparently there was an argument and he took her,” a watch commander at the Whittier Police Department said. The Amber Alert was issued at 2.45 a.m. local time.

The suspect is Juan Cuella Hernandez, a 45-year-old Hispanic male. He is described as having black hair, brown eyes and was last seen wearing gray slacks and a a green long sleeve dress shirt. He is about 5 feet and 8 inches tall, weighing about 245 pounds.

The victim is a 13-year-old Hispanic female who is about 5 feet and 11 inches tall. She weighs about 240 pound. The girl was last seen wearing a pink shirt, a blue jean skirt, white tennis shoes and brown prescription glasses.

Authorities believe the suspect has a gun in his possession and should be considered armed and dangerous. The suspect was last seen driving a black Chevy Silverado with a California license plate of 8N84118. It is believed that the suspect may be in the Los Angeles or Orange County area.

WHITTIER -- Police are looking for a 13-year-old girl who was taken from her home by her uncle Friday night.

Authorities issued an Amber Alert for Cynthia Irene Hernandez. Police say the girl's uncle, Juan Cuella Hernandez, took the child from the home in the 6300 block of Pickering Avenue around 7 p.m. after an argument with the girl's mother over child care.

Police say Cynthia is asthmatic and does not have her medication with her.

Juan Hernandez may be armed with a handgun.

Cynthia is Hispanic, 5-11, 240 lbs, with brown hair and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing a pink t-shirt, blue jean shorts, white shoes and brown plastic rim eye glasses.

Juan Hernandez is 45 years-old, 5-10, 240 lbs, with black hair and brown eyes. He was wearing gray slacks and a green long sleeve button up shirt. He has tattoos of the letter "B" on his left and right upper chest and a tower on his left upper arm.

The two may be in a black 1994 Chevrolet Silverado two-door pick-up truck with a California license plate of 8N84118. The vehicle's hood is faded gray.

Whittier, CA. – The Whittier Police Department is seeking the public’s help in locating a 13-year-old girl who was abducted from her home (6300 Pickering Avenue) at 7:00pm on July 31st. The victim, Cynthia Irene Hernandez, her mother, and the suspect, Juan Cuella Hernandez (the victim’s Uncle) were involved in an argument over child care. The involved parties then went outside where they continued arguing. As Cynthia’s mother attempted to take the victim back inside the home, the suspect grabbed the Cynthia and pushed her into the tuck (described below). The suspect then drove away with the Cynthia in an unknown direction. Cynthia is asthmatic and without her medication.

Juan Hernandez is wanted for the abduction of Cynthia as well as a parole violation. He has told family members in the past that he carries a handgun, possibly a .380 caliber semi automatic.

An Amber Alert had been issued for Hernandez, who police said was taken by 45-year-old Juan Hernandez after an argument with the girl's mother Friday night.

Police say authorities found Juan Hernandez and the girl when he stopped to get gas Saturday night. They took Juan Hernandez into custody and returned Cynthia Hernandez to her family.
