I get home and there is a note on every apartment saying the City wants to come into your apartment to inspect for life, health and safety concerns. I was so pizzed I called the manager and she said it was to inspect the complex for code violations. I told her that the inspector would be in for a big suprise because Josef might just stay home from daycare that day. She laughed and told me there is an option to not let them in.

Am I wrong for not wanting the goverment to come into my apartment? They have no business in my space. The apartment management I have no problem if they come in and see my laundry waiting to be folded on my table. But the Goverment, no way!!!!

The City of I***** Code Enforcement Department will be conducting interior inspections of units in your apartment complex on/after August 25, 2009. The purpose of the inspection is to indentify life, health safety, and building code violations, blah, blah, blah...

I have lived here going on five years in this apartment and never has the City done an inspection on the apartments.

They have been tearing down the low rent units down because of code violations. I don't know why they would want to come to my apartments. It isn't the barrio like the ones on the other side of town. I really don't mind if they inspect the outside balconies. One in particular that leave their 4 dogs on the balcony day and night to poop and pee.

My ex BIL works for the City, so I will ask him what the deal is, but I am denying entry since I have that right. 

JSM..i understand completely why you are upset....trust me..but they are probably looking to make sure you have a smoke-alarm, fire extinguisher (you should provided by the apartment), no rat infestation etc...  its most likely for you and the other renters best interest..making sure the owner/management company is doing what they're supposed to do as far as safety is concerned.  it almost sounds like another renter reported the complex to code compliance.?.

Republicans and even some Democrats have said the idea is a nonstarter in the Senate.
