U.S. Senator Edward Kennedy dies at age 77

BOSTON (Reuters) – U.S. Senator Edward Kennedy, a towering figure in the Democratic Party who took the helm of one of America's most fabled political families after two older brothers were assassinated, died at age 77, his family said.

"Edward M. Kennedy, the husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle we loved so deeply, died late Tuesday night at home in Hyannis Port (Massachusetts)," the Kennedy family said in a statement early on Wednesday.

One of the most influential and longest-serving senators in U.S. history -- a liberal standard-bearer who was also known as a consummate congressional dealmaker -- Kennedy had been battling brain cancer, which was diagnosed in May 2008.

I hate those cones, Zoe kept walking into everything, and was all disoriented.

Josef looked like a vacuum cleaner. I just found the cone, he will be wearing it once we get back from our next walk. I promised him we would go water the plants, that way he can bark from the balcony. BBL. 

When our cattle dog had to wear a cone, we called her " Ol' Bucket Head" and made up stories about her, and the small town full of hicks that she lived in. She looked so silly, and the poor thing *knew* she looked silly, and she was embarrassed. But it was too hard not to laugh, so we gave her lots of extra treats. Uhm...yeah, she did have a weight problem.

When Josef had to wear his cone, he was so pitiful because he knew he looked ridiculous. I swear they know when they look stupid. When he gets a bath and a new bandanna, he comes prancing out like he is king of the world.

So does Zoe, she loves a bath and new bandanna, and she shows off. They do know when they look stupid.

Forgot to log out yesterday.  Ruby is the same - she has a leather jacket styled in the Top Gun format, but it is labled Top Dog.  Such a bad ass when she wears it.

I'm mad at my husband over all this.....           Are you like me on pins and needles worrying that you will get a call that Josef vomited? I sit here and worry, but with her irritable bowel I know there are good and bad days. But I get so upset with the bad days. I try not to be nervous, because she senses that, but that's like telling the Pope not to pray

Woman Shown On Video Stuffing Puppy Into Purse

ORLANDO, Fla. -- Surveillance video released to Eyewitness News on Tuesday shows a puppy-napper in action. She simply reached over into a puppy crib, picked up a $1,300 Pomeranian and stuffed it into her purse.

The thief had lookouts when she stole the dog from the Puppy Spot pet shop on Colonial Drive near Bumby Avenue (see map). The owner of the store is even offering a reward for the puppy's safe return.

When it happened, the pet store was filled with customers, but the owner says five people were not customers; they were there to create a distraction for the thief to pick up a Pomeranian puppy and stick it in a purse.

The Puppy Spot is filled with tiny would-be pets that are all expensive purebreds. The 10-year-old business is well equipped with surveillance cameras and Sunday they captured an amazingly brazen crime.

"They see her actually lifting the puppy out of the crib and putting it in her purse then walking out the door with it," store owner Charles Glatz said.

The cameras captured the crime at several angles. The owner believes at least five people were involved in the distraction theft. The video shows a woman in a white shirt quickly grabbing a tiny puppy and placing it right in her purse. Then, immediately, the entire group heads straight for the door.

The fate of the puppy is anyone's guess now.

"The first thing you hope is that the puppy gets a good home. But, under the circumstances, the way they took it, it's hard to believe they'd give this puppy as good a home," Glatz said.

The pup was a teacup Pomeranian that would have sold for about $1,300. Now, the owner is offering $250 to anyone who can help put the thieves behind bars, and there is little doubt in the store that they've done it before and will do it again.

"Oh, I think they've probably done this before," Glatz said.

An employee was tipped off to the theft almost immediately by a customer who couldn't quite believe what she'd seen. That customer walked outside and saw the suspects drive away in a burgundy Ford Explorer. If you have any information, call Crimeline at 1-800-423-TIPS.
