Anyone watch Ted Kennedy's funeral procession? If so, did the family ride in the Peter Pan Tour Bus? TIA JSM 

I haven't had any news on, so I don't know about the procession, I refuse to watch any of it.

I watched it roll through the neighborhood and I swear there was a tour bus in the funeral procession. I guess so the family can get their drink on during the ride to Boston. 

That's if they could get they could pry the vodka bottle from Ted - my bad.

I like it, you call it like you see it    Can you tell I'm no fan of the Kennedys, though I will say as a young girl I did like Bobby Kennedy.

I liked Bobby too because I thought he was cute    The family holds a deep dark past starting with their father Joe.

Northern Rose was talking about making homemade pasta, I hope she comes here and posts a recipe for pesto!  I'm starving!

I'm having cheesecake .   

After eating a piece on Tuesday that I questioned is this still good or not, I ate it and finally my stomach is somewhat acting normal  If I ever have doubt again, it will go in the trash. I use to love cheesecake, but now not so much.

Cheesecake hurts my tummy too.

This case with Jaycee is just getting stranger, she was kept in somekind of backyard device, I'm assuming a shed and was a sex slave for the couple.  How in the world do you ever recover from something like this? I'm not even sure what to think, she may even act awkward towards her mom and stepfather, who knows what has all been said to her over the years

It is getting stranger JSM - makes me wonder how Jaycee is going to view her own children - Children learn what they live and God forbid she is mentally healthy.

The 33-second ad by the League of American Voters, which features a neurosurgeon who warns that a government-run health care system will lead to the rationing of procedures and medicine, began airing two weeks ago on local affiliates of ABC, NBC, FOX and CBS. On a national level, however, ABC and NBC have refused to run the spot in its present form.

"It's a powerful ad," said Bob Adams, executive director of the League of American Voters, a national nonprofit group with 15,000 members who advocate individual liberty and government accountability. "It tells the truth and it really highlights one of the biggest vulnerabilities and problems with this proposed legislation, which is it rations health care and disproportionately will decimate the quality of health care for seniors."

3 cups packed fresh basil leaves
4 cloves garlic
3/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1/2 cup olive oil
1/4 cup pine nuts
1/2 cup chopped fresh parsley

Throw in blender or food processor and blend.

This recipe freezes well.  I freeze in ice cube trays and then put them in a ziplock bag for when I need it.  A few slices of fresh tomatoes, pasta and pesto and dinner is made!

Perhaps one of the best presentations at the International Swine Flu Conference was delivered by Scott Sproul, chief of the Emergency Preparedness and Response Service for the Oklahoma Department of Health. Sproul recapped how Oklahoma City dealt with the 1918 Spanish flu, which contained genetic elements similar to the present avian flu, itself a recombinant genetic part of A/H1N1. ~ Wayne Madsen Sproul went back through historical records in Oklahoma City to discover that the city reacted in similar ways to how A/H1N1 has been treated by some officials and media today.

The 1918 flu affected mostly the young and middle-aged instead of the very young and very old. When cases of flu were first reported in Oklahoma City, even as the pandemic had reached Boston, New York, and Philadelphia from U,S. doughboys returning from World War I battlefields in Europe, city officials dismissed the cases as “hay fever.”

The city officials miscalculated. By October 1, 5,000 people in Oklahoma City had contracted the flu with all beds at the city’s Emergency Hospital full of patients. In addition, almost all the nurses at the hospital had fallen ill.

Most of the details behind a White House plan to grab oversight authority over detainee interrogations still need to be ironed out, but critics already are questioning the logic behind the move to yank responsibility from the CIA and hand it to a potentially political and bureaucratic unit.

The changing landscape for how the United States handles terrorism suspects is unmistakable.

Under task force recommendations that President Obama intends to follow, a new High-Value Detainee Interrogation Group will be housed in the FBI and subject to oversight from the White House-based National Security Council.

The head of the unit, while not named, reportedly will be an FBI official and this official, the White House says, will report directly to FBI Director Robert Mueller.

Attorney David Rivkin, a former Justice Department official and frequent critic of the reversal of CIA practices, said the shift brings the fight against terrorism "full circle" to a time when it was treated largely as a criminal crackdown.

"This is a full return to Sept. 10 mentality," he said.
