When I had to do a reading at my uncle's funeral a couple years back, I was very nervous. Public speaking is torture. My 4 yr old grandson saw me standing up on the altar of this huge old church. I didn't hear him say this, but my whole family did:
He made that sign with his fingers (thumb, forefinger and pinky out, all else folded in) and said (too loudly!) "Yeah! rock on, Mimi!" That was the talk of the funeral luncheon.

Boy, you're not kidding! I remember, when making my First Communion, having to speak at the alter, in front of a full church. It didn't go well. But I took a deep breath, and read so fast, and felt like I was going to faint the entire time! 

Whew! Was I ever glad to sit down after that! 

Never did try public speaking again. Failed it in high school as well. Didn't matter, had no plans on ever speaking to a group like that ever again anyway!

I'm going to try again, if I ever have somewhat of a stress less day. I can't do anything right when I have anxiety attacks, even on meds 

I would love to have a stress less day. And a day without meds! Oh well!

The Organist is zipping through America the Beautiful.

And Caroline was a pallbearer! I'm glad of that. I told DH that, as staunchly Republican as I am (surprise!) if "our Caroline" ran for office, I would vote for her. I believe she's my age...her and John-John overcame being Kennedys.

Also, now that Teddy is buried close to JFK, someone has calculated that the Eternal Flame will be powered for 22.5 years from the breath from Teddy's grave. (funeral's over, let the humour begin!)

And the kvetching goes on:
Does no one remember Joan Kennedy? I know she was there, but they were all acting like she never existed. How sad.

Jean Kennedy Smith?

No, Joan Kennedy, the Tedster's first wife and mother of his children. He had their marriage annulled so he could marry Vicky (no diss on Vicky). Joan has been an alcoholic for eons, and there is some friction between her and the kids. Seems the kids wanted to control her estate, and she didn't take too kindly to that. As a result, she's had a guardian appointed, and court-appointed financial overseers. HOWEVER: She was the one who was there when Teddy was being very very bad. She stood by him and propped him up. She deserves recognition.

Oh... I thought you meant sister Jean former ambassador to Ireland.  She was sitting in the front pew with Vicky and helped with the shroud.  I thought first wife Joan also helped with the shroud?  Was she not the one sitting behind Vicki?

I give up posting.  Everyone is asking me questions about going to the lake tomorrow so I had better organize the crew.  Just found out we have 4 extra kids coming which is great for the kids but means we have to take one more car out there.  Have to go organize with my neighbour about food as well.  I am sure I get to bake the hotdog and hamburger buns for tomorrow.  Laking is not right without a rip roaring fire at the end to do hamburgers an hotdogs even though it is gonna be 30 (86).  BBL

I was right, I get to make the buns for tomorrow.  We counted heads and have 15 going to the lake so at least 3 doz buns.  Yes I do most of my own bread and buns every day, rarely buy store bought bread for years.  There is just something wrong with bread that can stay fresh for two weeks on the store shelves and your counter.  We are all bringing one desert as well so I am going to make a cherry cake as I have so many sour cherries ripe on my tree right now. 

You will enjoy the cheese dip.  Make it as hot as you want with the jalapenos by adding or subtracting some.  The cheese masks the heat so you might be surprised on how many you will put in before it comes out to your taste.

I am watching the Kennedy funeral.  I have been in that church and it is beautiful.  It was under restoration when I was there and there were scaffolds all around.

It is very beautiful.IMO.Grandson just didn't get it.

During Prayers of the Faithful they slipped in his vision on healthcare .  I have no words right now.

I hate to say this but I really would like to stay and watch Uncle Teddy's funeral just to see if it is a proper Funeral Mass. 

I am trying to watch part of it,while being asked 1,000 questions about why a Catholic church looks like Castlevania.   
I really like the Catholic services I have been to.

Two points: the Kennedy grands know how to genuflect (good) and the co-consecrents (and one is an archbishop, FGS!) didn't genuflect during the consecration!!!!!! Even our old priest does that! OH well, it is a Kennedy Mass, so the rules have been bent, of course.

Hubby was jumping up and down when they changed the Psalm from tribes of Isreal to Tribes of the earth.

YOU HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME?

Sounds like a lot of fun.       I never thought about the preservatives that are used in store-bought bread.

I just saw a youtube of the beginning up until the first reading. I don't think I will watch another one. My head is hurting right now.
