He was back last night and SIL went to the basement and shot him.
Now they can't stand to stay in the house because it smells like a skunk.
I was crying from laughing so hard.I wonder what they will do?
Woo Hoo!!!! OMG, I'm laughing so hard!!! We had that happen way back when..first thing in the morning as we were all getting ready for school and work. We didn't realize that the smell stayed on us until we got to our respective daily places. I got sent home from work, had to get the kids out of school, and hubby worked outside only jobs that day. As awful as it was, we all laughed like hell thru it.

What helped get rid of the smell was taking cedar kindling and starting it on fire, then blowing the flame out and just basically carrying around a cedar smudge stick thru the whole house. Frakkin' skunk, my DH found him the next day and dispatched him promptly with a gun. We cheered!
Maybe that cedar kindling will help me when they cook next door.
Well, yes, of course try the cedar before the gun! Monkey Devil!

I decided to vaccum the den real quick...I found a scorpion.    Snakes and scorpions are the 2 things I can't handle.they really hurt.
That crotch scratching, remote hogging, snack hunter better get ready.Tomorrow it's war.    The bugs are going down. I have electricity on my screened in porch,so I can fumigate and compute from there.
A scorpion, I've never seen one here, though I'm sure we have them. We have little lizards that run all around, they don't hurt anything, and they eat bugs, and Zoe loves chasing them. But we sure have snakes, one day I was cleaning the bark up in the yard and there was one, I called a neighbor over and she said it was a baby rattle snake, I just about fainted.

Have fun at the lake NR!  You make your own buns?  I am amazed by you!  I think I'm going to make the cheese dip you posted tomorrow, I hope it turns out OK.

Missed everyone, I hope all is well.   an angelic monkey You are all in my prayers, Lovinlife

I was right, I get to make the buns for tomorrow.  We counted heads and have 15 going to the lake so at least 3 doz buns.  Yes I do most of my own bread and buns every day, rarely buy store bought bread for years.  There is just something wrong with bread that can stay fresh for two weeks on the store shelves and your counter.  We are all bringing one desert as well so I am going to make a cherry cake as I have so many sour cherries ripe on my tree right now.

You will enjoy the cheese dip.  Make it as hot as you want with the jalapenos by adding or subtracting some.  The cheese masks the heat so you might be surprised on how many you will put in before it comes out to your taste.

wow ....  I've been thinking the same thing about bread on store shelves for severals years now for some reason (OCD no doubt) but everyone I've mentioned it to says pffftttt.   I keep trying slowly to get back to everything organic & unprocessed but it's really hard.

I never go to a bakery & I freely admit I'm pretty much too lazy to bake bread products myself, not to mention the mess I'd probably make.  I wonder if buying from a bakery would be pretty much the same as making at home?

NR, do you have a bread machine, easy recipes, all that, or is it really time consuming?

Sorry for jumping into the middle of your thread JSM.

We lived so far North for so many years that I learned to do things from scratch whether I wanted to or not as the cost of groceries up there would just make your head spin.  Everything had to be brought in by plane so you can imagine the mark up.

I do have a bread maker and promise that you will not make a mess!  I never bake in my bread maker, I only use the dough setting to do all the hard work for me.  I also have a oven with a proofing cycle so can control things when the dough is resting and rising, but only have had that for the past two years.

Here is a no fail bread recipe.  If you have a bread maker (It is such a good investment) ALWAYS put in the liquids first, then the dry ingredients with yeast last.  I use breadmachine yeast which is next to the normal yeast in the grocery store.  The yeast is much finer and you get much better results with it.  If you can not find breadmachine yeast, measure the amount of WARM (not hot) water in a  bowl.  Add the amount of sugar and stir.  Then add the amount of yeast and let sit for about 4 minutes till it does its thing.  Then pout it in the bread machine and continue adding the rest of the ingredients.  If you want a nice crusty bun or bread, when it is rising and resting, mist it gently with plain water and then cover it again.  I have bought a spray bottle at the dollar store that has a great mist setting and keep it on the kitchen counter.

Here is the recipe:
1 cup water
1 Tbsp milk
2 Tbsp shortening ( you can use butter if you have no shortening)
2 Tbsp sugar
1 tsp salt
2 2/3 cup flour
1 tsp yeast.

After dough cycle is done in bread maker take dough out and form into a loaf.  Place in greased loaf pan ( i have really old seasoned ones) and place on the counter covered with a towel until it has risen twice in size.  Mist twice if you want a crusty crust.  Bake at 350 for about 20 minutes or until it is golden brown on top and sounds hollow when you knock on the top.  Take out of oven and flip the loaf out of the pan on it's side to cool.

Let me know how it works for you!

White House Fires Back After Cheney Calls CIA Probe 'Political'
White House Press Secretary Roberts Gibbs broadly dismisses former Vice President Dick Cheney's comments on "FOX News Sunday" as typical and unfounded.

FOXNews.com
, August 31, 2009
The White House on Monday fired back after former Vice President Dick Cheney called the Obama administration's decision to open a probe into alleged CIA abuses an "outrageous political act."

White House Press Secretary Roberts Gibbs broadly dismissed Cheney's comments on "FOX News Sunday" as typical and unfounded.

"This is the same song and dance we've heard since literally the first day of our administration," Gibbs said. "The vice president ... clearly had his facts on a number of things wrong."

Nope other than living outside until the scent dissipates.  When I was in highschool I worked in the mountains in the summer in  an old RCMP lodge that had been converted to a restaurant with 12 cabins around the property.  It was the only place to stop for a three hour drive either way, on the only highway through that part of the Rockies and I used to clean the cabins.  One of the workers brought her golden retriever with her to alert us of bears and for company.  I took the dog for a walk one evening along the stream and the dog shot off in the bush.  I figured it was a bear and was calling the dog like crazy to come back.  I next hear the dog yelp and come running back it me.  It found a skunk and got sprayed real well.  So back to the lodge we walk, me not wanting the dog too close as my eyes are watering and the dog walking and trying to rub itself against everything on the way back to get rid of the smell.  Three baths with tomato juice and dog still smelled like skunk.

Try boiling vinegar on the stove.  It is good at taking cooking odors of of the air, may work for skunk?

Stress Buster Bunnies In Japan

People in Japan are turning to animal cafes as a way to release the tensions of everyday life. With restrictions on pet ownership in many apartments, the cafes are becoming a popular place to relax and unwind.

And at a dollar-a-minute to cuddle the pet of your choice, it is almost as exclusive as a more traditional retreat.

Well Rose is a pretty girl, just has no manners, or she is at that age where you do stuff like that, for a reaction. I sure did my share, but then I wasn't in a funeral procession or on tv.
She is a very pretty girl, but that is no way to act at a funeral.  I really liked her great grandma Rose Kennedy

Things are getting worse as the days go by on what may have happened to Jaycee

<snipped>
Police are visiting other registered sex offenders in the area to see if any of them attended wild sex parties that neighbours reported hearing in Garrido's garden.

Neighbours have described how unsavoury looking men arrived by car at his house, got drunk, took the drug crystal meth and lined up outside a tent.

The disgust just doesn't end. I can't take my mind off of Jaycee and her children. I am so angry at how this state let her down. I'll say it again, when things somewhat calm down for the family, I hope they go after this state big time with law suits.
