I just pulled up the SM website, only to realize I never logged out yesterday.  Have no idea if I was sitting in the rafters here or in musings or one of the other threads, but if it was in here, please know I wasn't stalking anyone.

I didn't know people ate horse meat
They do in Europe. My aunt's in England always make sure when they buy meat to ask if it came from a cow.
I remember once when I was little my grandma made us lunch, after the lunch she asked my mom and me if we liked it, we said yes, she said it was deer meat, my mom got sick, and I started crying, thinking I ate Bambi  I was a dumb kid.
I can't eat Bambi either No Rose.

Money sent home by Mexican immigrants to drop by 11% due to U.S. economy.
I know this is gonna sound ugly, but I'm only worried about thew U.S. citizens right now.JMO
Me too

I keep hoping the illegals will return home, since the economy is suffering.
Me to Trimm, me too.  I'm not buying what they're selling regarding the illegals.  I remember Ellis Island and protocal to becoming a citizen.  They don't want to be citizens, they just want $$$$.  Do we have Canadian illegals?  No offense to anyone, I'm just wonderin'.

Speaking of Canadians, missing Northern Rose, I hope all is well.

Hi Lovin - I am sure and know for a fact you have at least one illegal Canadian - she is my SIL's nutso niece and lives somewhere in WI with a her internet BF and his strange band of merry men. I am sure there are many  more.   We have illegal American's and Mexicans as well.  The Mexicans are really miffed now that they need a Visa to get into Canada.

All is well, just crazy busy, work, kids, hubby, house, yard.

False Plane Crash Report Costs Man 30k

Edward Pretzer called 911 in La Plata County, Colorado, to report that he had just been in a plane crash and that he was bleeding profusely from a severed arm.

He also advised dispatchers that as many as 12 fellow passengers had been killed. Naturally, a throng of emergency workers, volunteers, and reporters descended on the reported crash site, with as many as 50 people and 18 vehicles responding.

But when rescue teams arrived on the scene they found no wreckage, so police used GSP coordinates provided by the 911 dispatcher to locate Pretzer, who had made five separate 911 calls. Deputies discovered a visibly intoxicated Pretzer in a nearby house, and arrested him for false reporting.

It gets worse for Pretzer. On Saturday the county advised that it will seek to recover $30,000 from him—the estimated total cost of the resources and fuel expended.

I'm sure that you need to make hay while the sun's shining.  Fall is coming soon, I can feel it as I'm sure you can too.  Glad to hear everythings OK, just busy.

Do Americans need a visa or just a passport?

Just a Passport as of June 1.  Before then nothing was needed.  For frequent travellers from the US they can use a Nexus card instead.

AARP just released a statement saying that any said endorsement by them of 'O's health care reform is inaccurate.     Oh my now we'll probably get a AARP Czar.

O needs news notes.     How embarrassing.     NOT for me!

JSM,that should make you feel better.
My husband got beligerent last night over this, I told him that, but some big wig from AARP was on Rachel Maddow show, and for some reason he didn't say that or he didn't hear that said.    I was busy and frankly didn't want to listen. I'm going another route now, I'm going to tell him I've been reading the reform bill all day    and now I agree with him and see how that turns out. He was also going on and on about putting sickly old people on an ice berg to float out to die, he must have had to much wine
Maybe you should put him on an iceburg and tell him (just before you shove him and his burg off) you'll check with him in a week to see how it's working out for him! It's a win-win...you get a break, and he gets first-hand experience
The weird part about this is when I was very little my mom ran into the house to grab something before we walked a block to my grandma's house. Needless to say I didn't listen and I actually ran down to the beach behind our house and was out on an iceberg in Lake Michigan. My mom went crazy and with her help and a neighbors I was saved  otherwise I would have gone drifting, but I'm sure the iceberg would have hit the pier. So I have experience on an iceberg.

I had an experinece with a Goldberg, but that's a story for another time.

I know a lot of people who used to go across the border shopping and that has stopped now.  It started with the US implementing the Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative.  I think the Canadian Gov't figured if Canadians needed passports to get into the US then the requirement to get into Canada would be the same and the US gov't would back down as it was ridiculous and would put the same load on the US passport offices as it had put on the Canadian one.  The US gov't did not back down.   Prior to this year you only needed a passport if you crossed by plane.  As of June even car crossing needed passports now.  IMO it has hurt cross border shopping as well as tourism for both countries.

There was a story about a very elderly and ill man that was a Canadian who lived in Canada but the only way to get to his remote house was to cross into the US and back out via unsecured remote road.    His daughter , a Canadian , used to go see and care for him daily.  She was stopped one day by a US border guard and refused travel down the only road to get to her father because she did not have a passport.  I have no idea how or if it was settled but it was so very sad.

I usually like to go in October when the leaves are changing and the farmers are working in their fields with the plow horses.  This time I'll go for the food and the company of me mommy, of course.

Hi Northern, parakeets are great

Awww.  Yes, parakeets are great, I agree.  We just lost our little blue parakeet "Cindy Lou Who" on Sunday.  She was our cockatiel's companion.  We miss her so much already.  She used to chirp and "sing".  Cindy Lou was such a cheerful little thing.
