The president is considering a speech in the next week or so in which he would be "more prescriptive" about what he feels Congress must include in a bill, top adviser David Axelrod said Tuesday in an interview. The speech might occur before the Sept. 15 deadline the White House gave to Senate negotiators to seek a bipartisan bill, Axelrod said. He suggested that two key Republicans have not bargained in good faith.

Outrage Grows Over Ad Showing Planes Crashing Into NYC

The World Wildlife Fund is joining a growing chorus of voices expressing outrage over an ad bearing its symbol that shows dozens of planes bearing down on lower Manhattan with a tag line that reads, "The Tsunami Killed 100 Times More People Than 9/11."

The ad was leaked in the week prior to the anniversary of the attacks of Sept 11, with copy that states, "The planet is brutally powerful. Respect it. Preserve it."

The WWF says it never approved the ad, issuing a press release to assure critics that it rejected the ad proposal, which was done by Brazilian design firm DDB Brasil.

“WWF strongly condemns this offensive and tasteless ad and did not authorize its production or publication," said a statement issued by the World Wildlife Fund on Tuesday.

"The concept was summarily rejected by WWF and should never have seen the light of day. It is an unauthorized use of our logo and we are aggressively pursuing action to have it removed from Web sites where it is being currently featured," the statement said.

The ad had been pitched to the Brazilian branch of the WWF by the advertising agency and was rejected, spokesman for the group Steve Ertel told The New York Times.

The top-selling Bible in North America will undergo its first revision in 25 years, promising to reopen a contentious debate about changing gender terms in the sacred text.

The New International Version, the Bible of choice for conservative evangelicals, will be revised to reflect changes in English usage and advances in Biblical scholarship, it was announced Tuesday. The revision is scheduled to be completed late next year and published in 2011.

But past attempts to remake the NIV for contemporary audiences in different editions have been plagued by controversies about gender language that have pitted theological conservatives against each other.

The changes did not make all men “people” or remove male references to God, but instead involved dropping gender-specific terms when translators judged that the original text didn't intend it. So in some verses, references to “sons of God” became “children of God,” for example.

I don't understand the President's use of "Prescriptive" in this context. I assume he means "Descriptive."

This man is an idiot.  I can think of no contribution Moslems have made to this country which is beneficial.  As to "Progrressive," they are still living in the glorious 8th Century.  If he hasn't read the Koran, which I believe he probably reads every day, I suggest he do so.  I have an English copy and it is horrifying.  Particularly the part about "Cutting his neck" if a person will not convert to this Islam.  "Cutting his neck" means beheading, of which they have posted videos.  Stoning women to death is also one of their favorite punishments for such infractions as being raped. This is the wonderful religion which is so admired by our President.  I believe his goal is to Islamize this country which is required by a follower of Mohammed.  The entire world is to be made one big Caliphate. 

I saw a video this morning of one of his goons instructing people attending Town Hall meetings on the art of preventing any questions being asked.  They are to stand up and start yelling "Health care now!"  This person did not say what kind of question, just a question.  We are not to question the plans of our "Dear Leader." 

For those of us who can't, I think it would be a good idea to learn to say, "Allah akbar."  God is great indeed.

He is to give an internet address to school children on Sept. 9.  A worksheet is to be issued to the children with questions to answer, such as, "How can I help the President?" and to "Read books about President Obama."  I have a couple of books about Hussein which somehow I don't think would be included in his list of books. Parents must protest this indoctrination which is contrary to all traditions of our country.

I am not a rabble rouser, nor a Nazi, nor part of a mob.   I truly believe that this Moslem man and his cohorts are in the process of a coup d'etat to permanently take over the government of the US and to institute his brand of Islam, a religion into which he was born.   Now, if I disappear, you will know what happened to me!
