A "pandemic response bill" currently making its way through the Massachusetts state legislature would allow authorities to forcefully quarantine citizens in the event of a health emergency, compel health providers to vaccinate citizens, authorize forceful entry into private dwellings and destruction of citizen property and impose fines on citizens for noncompliance.

If citizens refuse to comply with isolation or quarantine orders in the event of a health emergency, they may be imprisoned for up to 30 days and fined $1,000 per day that the violation continues.

This made me laugh so hard.  Where is there an empty prison to put all the contagious people in?  Where are there enough solitary cells if there is no empty prison.  I thought all these SO's were being released way early as the entire prison system is over capacity?  If they mean Jail as in police stations, you think the LE is gonna be happy to have the germs floating through the air system?  OMG this is way too funny.

Anti free speech fascist bullies hit hardest.

The Canadian Human Rights Tribunal has ruled that Section 13, Canada's much maligned human rights hate speech law, is an unconstitutional violation of the Charter right to free expression because of its penalty provisions.
The decision released this morning by Tribunal chair Athanasios Hadjis appears to strip the Canadian Human Rights Commission of its controversial legal mandate to pursue hate on the Internet, which it has strenuously defended against complaints of censorship.

It also marks the first major failure of Section 13(1) of the Canadian Human Rights Act, an anti-hate law that was conceived in the 1960s to target racist telephone hotlines, then expanded in 2001 to the include the entire Internet, and for the last decade used almost exclusively by one complainant, activist Ottawa lawyer Richard Warman.


Congratulations to Mark Steyn and Ezra Levant among others who stood up to this attack on freedom masquerading as 'human rights'.

This is the beginning of the end for the Canadian state's policing of opinion: Judge Hadjis has repudiated the "human rights" regime's entire rationale as well as a couple of decades of joke "jurisprudence".
I confess I wasn't optimistic when the thought enforcers decided to pick a fight with me, but Ezra Levant persuaded me that the thing to do was go nuclear on this disgusting racket and re-frame the debate. We succeeded. There's a lesson here for American conservatives, particularly as the president and his allies, with the "fairness doctrine" and bills to control the Internet and whatnot, are tempted down a very Canadian path.


It's easy to sometimes to take for granted our ability to say just about anything in America and in forums like this blog. The need for vigilance and a willingness to stand up to the bullies never ends.

What are the symptoms of the swine flu? Don't tell me a sore throat and drainage.  If so I think I have it. 

I have taken Loratadine and that stopped the drainage that was causing me to cough. Any one have any ideas on how to make my throat stop feeling scratchy? It hurts so bad, I don't want to even smoke a ciggie.

Aww, JSM, don't worry about it! I had a horrid cold a couple of weeks back that made me wish I was dead! I'm not (much) scared anymore, and my throat doesn't hurt, so my sympathies to you! Hope you feel better tomorrow. (don't forget about the rock n roll party!)
