PHILIPSBURG/Willemstad - The American Vice Consul of the Consulate General in Curacao, 49 year old James Hogan, disappeared on Thursday evening after he attended a reception at the American Consul.

A huge man hunt has been launched for the American Diplomat including the Curacao Police Department, Dutch Coastguard, US Navy helicopter crew, and CITRO (Curacao Citizen Rescue Organization).

According to our reports, after he reached home he told his wife that he was going for a walk.

He went for a walk in the Caracas Baai Area, but never returned.

www.sxmislandtime.com have also learnt that up until Sunday, clothing similar to that which hogan was wearing at the time of his disappearance has been found.

Our sources also states that blood was also found and that it is currently being analyzed.

The sudden disappearance of Hogan is of grave concern for the Antillian authorities who are also said to be working with all instances to locate the American Diplomat.

We have also learnt that the wife of Hogan is also being looked at currently as a "person of interest", as reportedly their relationship has not been the best and that there was an escalation of their problems on that evening.

Five FBI agents have arrived on the Caribbean island of Curaçao, one of the Netherlands Antilles, to join the search for the US Vice Consul James Hogan who went missing on Thursday evening.

The manhunt is being carried out by a 150-strong team including the Curaçao police, the Dutch coastguard, US Marines, a US Navy helicopter crew and the Curaçao Citizen Rescue Organisation.

The 49-year-old diplomat apparently told his wife he was going for a walk but never returned. On Friday his jeans were found in a remote spot near Caracas Bay on the east coast of the island and the US Consulate officially reported him as missing.

Police say they are investigating all possible scenarios including violence, kidnapping and domestic issues. They describe the case as their top priority and Curaçao's Justice Minister Magali Jacoba is being kept informed of every development.

Vacation Timeshares Drop at Record Pace as Americans Cut Back

By Nadja Brandt

Sept. 29 (Bloomberg) -- U.S. vacation timeshare sales may fall the most this year since the industry gained popularity in the 1970s as consumers forego spending to ride out the recession.

Sales may drop 30 percent this year from 2008, said Howard Nusbaum, president and chief executive officer of the American Resort Development Association, a Washington-based trade group. The market “will be a challenge for at least the next 18 months,” Patrick Scholes, senior equity research analyst at FBR Capital Markets & Co. said this month.

“Timeshares are just very, very discretionary items,” said Chris Woronka, an analyst at Deutsche Bank Securities in New York. “It’s the perpetual vacation. I am prepaying for the ability to take a vacation every year. Under the current circumstances, people are more reluctant to pay for that.”

U.S. timeshare sales dropped 8.5 percent last year to $9.7 billion from a peak of $10.6 billion in 2007, excluding the luxury fractional business and private residence clubs, according to an Ernst & Young LLP study prepared for ARDA. The decline was the industry’s first since 1975 and is being driven by tighter credit, a higher personal savings rate and the loss of 6.9 million jobs since the recession started in December 2007.

Marriott’s Charge

Marriott International Inc., the largest U.S. hotel chain, said last week it will take a third-quarter pretax charge of $760 million in its timeshare business. The company will cut prices, halt development at some residential resorts and at some luxury fractional ownership properties, and sell some undeveloped land.

“We have enough inventory to last a few years,” Laura Paugh, senior vice president of investor relations at Marriott, said in a telephone interview. “Prices are not likely to turn around in the near term. Given the development risk, we plan to complete the inventory we have under way, but not develop any more.”

Wyndham Worldwide Corp., the largest seller of timeshare vacation units, in December said it would cut 40 percent of those sales in 2009.

Timeshares give owners the right to use a property for a set period of time each year, typically a week. Fractional ownership plans usually offer longer stays at a property and tend to include more services and amenities, according to ARDA.

For hotel companies, the businesses can build customer loyalty, Marriott’s Paugh said.

‘Buy the Hotel’

Timeshares first emerged in the 1960s, according to Group RCI, Wyndham’s vacation rental and timeshare unit. According to RCI’s Web site, a hotelier in the French Alps marketed the world’s first timeshare development with the slogan, “No need to rent the room, buy the hotel -- it’s cheaper!” The concept moved to the U.S. in the 1970s, initially in Florida, the state with the most timeshare resorts, according to RCI.

“The main obstacle for the industry is that there will be a semi-permanent reduction in demand because developers would sell to people with relatively low credit scores,” said Deutsche Bank’s Woronka. “That won’t be possible anymore. Your pool of buyers will be much smaller from now on.”

Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide Inc., the third-largest U.S. lodging company, may also have to “recognize significant timeshare impairments” since it has more high-end timeshares than Marriott, David Loeb, an analyst at Robert W. Baird & Co., said in a note this month.

Demand Drops

Starwood’s fourth-quarter timeshare sales fell 48 percent, the company said in January. It closed nine sales centers and cut 900 employees from the division since the start of 2008.

K.C. Kavanagh, a Starwood spokesman, declined to comment.

“Our sense is that the timeshare industry is less optimistic about any near-term recovery than is the hotel industry, as the timeshare industry’s hands are tied by the availability -- or lack -- of financing,” Scholes said in a note this month.

On Sellatimeshare.com, a one-bedroom, one-week timeshare at the Marriott Aruba Surf Club is being offered for $25,900.

The Web site includes the testimonial of a client who sold her unit at the Renaissance Aruba Beach Resort and Casino for $5,000.

On Timeshareadventures.com, a two bedroom, two-bath one- week timeshare at Marriott’s Canyon Villas at Desert Ridge in Arizona was for sale for $25,000. The annual maintenance fees and taxes are $900. The property includes a golf course, tennis courts and spa.

Plenty of Ads

A one-week, every-other-year unit at Marriott’s Ko Olina Beach Club timeshare resort in Oahu, Hawaii, is advertised for $15,999. The annual maintenance and taxes on the two bedroom, two bath are $728.

Mark Massarelli, who runs Dynasty Limousine in Boston, has been trying to sell one of two timeshares in Hollywood, Florida, that he and his sister inherited from their mother. He has been advertising a one-bedroom, one-bath unit on Craigslist.org for six months. It’s at a full-service oceanfront property with access to an 18-hole golf course.

Massarelli, 46, hasn’t received any inquiries even after cutting the price twice.

“I am offering it at $3,995 but its value right now is probably around $8,000,” Massarelli said in a telephone interview. “I tried to sell it a couple of times for a higher price but nobody bit. The maintenance and taxes on the unit are getting expensive. So I cut the price to attract more buyers, but nothing so far.”

Hotel Deals

The average sales price for timeshares in the U.S. climbed to $20,152 in 2008 from $15,790 in 2004. Occupancy remained little changed from 2005 to 2008 at about 82 percent, according to Ernst & Young. Average maintenance fees increased to $646 from $471 from 2005 through 2008.

“This year in particular, timeshare sales are down because hotel deals have been so good,” said Woronka. “Owners may think ‘I could have stayed at a luxury hotel for $150 a night and I am paying much more for this timeshare.’”

The luxury timeshare segment, where units can sell from $100,000 to more than $1 million, also is being hit, according FBR’s Scholes.

Demand for such rooms “was soft in 2008 and weakened further in 2009,” Arne Sorenson, Marriott’s president and chief operating officer, said on Sept. 23.

“I don’t think timeshares are out of style,” said Marriott’s Paugh. “Customers really do like it. But the returns we currently receive on our investment are disappointing. For us it’s probably not the place we want to put our money.”

Kermit ... where are ya!  I hope all is well.

Hey ... my DIL and I have come to a roadblock in our almost completed work regarding various aspects of the Persistence betrayal.  We could sure use your background knowledge and archives to clear up some confusion.

Ribbit.

Janet

Be happy to help in anyway I can.

Thanks again Kermit.

1.  Is there any credible backup that ... in the course of the investigation ... Aruban LE were overseeing the Nicaragua lead ... the Nicaragua lead that implied the location of Natalee Holloway's body was known?

Kermit ... the following article implies that Tim Miller and Dave Holloway were on a private mission ... a private mission that provided no protection ... a private mission that was taking the focus off the cage/trap that may have contained the remains of Natalee ... remains that that were afforded unchallenged to the Arubans by the Persistence Project Lead ... John Silvetti.

Janet

KYLE KINGMAN - IN HIS OWN WORDS

Kyle Kingman:
On the night of the 30th (I believe this was Tim's last night on the Persistence) I approached Tim and proposed some ideas to him. I suggested that we shouldn't take the Aruban Polis divers at their word and proceed with planning a recovery of the trap. Also, I proposed the trap site may not be pristine or the Polis may have already knew about it. This statement was backed up by several comments we heard, behavior we observed, and other things. Tim told me he thought I was right but didn't know what to do about it. I hadn't slept in 48 hours.  I crashed for a few hours rest and by the time I got up Dateline and Tim Miller had left the boat.

Kyle Kingman:  Tim Miller was never on the Persistence while I was not on board.  He stepped off on or about the 1st of Jan to follow up on the false lead in Costa Rica (Nicaragua).

THe Search for Natalee Holloway - February 22, 2008

To be sure there was no relevant evidence, material from the trap was given to the FBI. For the Holloways, though, another wild ride began.

This bizarre story originated in the central American nation of Nicaragua.

It happened last month, when Natalee’s father Dave received a message from a man who called himself Marcos. He said he had important information about where they could find Natalee's body.

.... In January, Dave Holloway asked Tim Miller to head to Nicaragua to arrange for a meeting...and to Miller's surprise, Marcos showed up

On Friday September 25th a 150 person search team consisting of Curacao Police Department, Dutch Coastguard, US Navy helicopter crew, and CITRO (Curacao Citizen Rescue Organization) searched for a missing person: James Hogan who's the Vice Consul of the United States Consulate General Curacao.

According to report in the local newspapers a domestic dispute caused Hogan to leave his home on Thursday afternoon on September 24th. The next day his clothing and shoes were found in a remote wilderness spot near Caracas Bay and Hogan was nowhere in sight. Immediately the local authorities were notified and a search was started. The Dutch coastguard searched on sea, the local police department searched by land, a US Navy helicopter search by air, and the CITRO assisted by exploring the coastal areas and mangrove forests. A scubateam explored the reefs and underwater grottos at Caracas Bay in Curacao.

On Saturday and Sunday the search continued with the help of US Marines that are stationed in Curacao.

James Hogas was last seen wearing jeans and a blue polo shirt. Hogan is a 1.84 meters tall caucasion, slightly overweight, with straight red hair, and blue green eyes.

At 6 pm on Sunday September 27 I inquired at the local police department with little positive news, so that thus far the whereabouts of US Vice Consul James Hogan is still uncertain.

This is what's so wrong with the media in this country!
I'm a family friend, and you have got the story all wrong.
You can't just post the first piece of news you find just because you want to be the first to supposedly give the inside scoop!
You only make things worse by making assumptions and posting up bullshit.
the family is going through enough without having amateur uninformed writers making things worse.
pray for the family, or at least hope and wish that everything works out. that's what we're all doing.

Did you NOT read the previous comment. His family is reading this. Your irresponsibility is appalling. I'm one of his friends. You don't even know him at all and I can tell you he would never do anything like that intentionally...go back to watching your soap operas.

First of all, you need to get your story straight before you post it.  I am the oldest daughter of James Hogan.  There was no domestic dispute.  My Dad and my mom have been married for 24 years and he has never once taken off after a fight.  The lead the police have down there right now is that a woman who was fired from the office where my Dad works has criminal connections.  Second of all, my mom hasn't heard ANYTHING about his clothes being found, or anything that might indicate anything positive.  The local police insist she had something to do with his disappearance, and refuse to investigate the woman who was fired further.  My family is going through enough without you printing bs stories!

After a domestic dispute, sounds like he decided to disappear forever in the sea, to me. Left his clothes as a message he had done it.

I pray that Mr.Hogan is found safe.Although i don't look for the Holloway case to be put in the media under these circumstances,i do hope that the MAJOR TV stations,as well as the 24 news networks take hold of this story and put Aruba,Curacao,The Antilles and The Netherlands right back under the microscope!God Bless the Hogan family! We pray for the safe return of Mr. Hogan..... an angelic monkey

I agree KTF.  I started a new thread for him in the Missing Persons forum, and copied the posts from here to there.  I will post any further information there.

Thank you, TM....good move.

From the comments, it seems that Hogan's family has added distress besides his disappearance.  Hoping the outcome is favorable, to say the least.

Kermit ... where are ya!

Janet

+++++++

Kermit

Considering Dave Holloway was the one who received the false lead ... could his long time friend Mark Purcell who possesses an Aruban agenda or those he had connections within the ATA/AHATA ... were behind the deception ... a deception that took Dave Holloway and Tim Miller's focus off the Persistence discovery ... a deception that was meant to convince these two men that the contents of the trap were not case related ... especially Tim Miller who was convinced 99% that the ROV images revealed Natalee Holloway's remains.

Mark Purcell was on Bushy-haired stranger site and he came over to natalee.net site after the
'Lions Den' information was posted to debunk it. He posted that he sat acrss the street and
had 5 beers and danced with a woman and there was no truth to it. The Lions Den was assembled by SM members bestbuddy (Claussen's) and Kathy Drenga who went to Aruba.
If you recall that VIP restaurant was the place that Caps said was near the Pond where Dave would find Natalee's remains.

Rxxxxx Vxxxxxx/Capslockwizard emailed Dave Holloway to get him to search the pond in Aruba.
Capslockwizard signs up at SM on the day the ROV unit is diving on the cage/trap.

Dave Holloway emailed Caps at the insistence of lalasmom who emailed Dave Holloway.
Dave Holloway told Caps he had a contact in Aruba that he would like him to get involved with.

John Silvetti got involved with Caps and went to meet him.
Caps confirms that when he posted about it.

Hi John, hope everything is well,

Long time not hearing anything about the Ocean Explorer. but last night I went to the SM forum, where I found someone called KERMIT, who is stateing 3 of the crew member are traitors..

I was in shock to see that your name is one on the names mention.

Other thing that was mention was that your company where not searching for Natalee, but where doing a survay for Oil exploration on the bottom of the ocean around Aruba.

I Just want you to know that it seems to be that this Kermit has some info that show that your company are dealing in corruption.

There is a photo circulating that show a man in a red T-shirt on the boat and they are claming that that is an FBI agent.

They are also saying that the Skul was Human skull., I did asked you and you told me that there was noting in=2 0the cage.

I know there was an incident with Tim , but the detail I do not remember....

Please John, I hope it is not so..please let me know....I just wanted to defent you, since they are saying that CAPS is related to the OE and Silvetty corrption

Hope to hear from you,

Caps,

Hello my friend. It has been a long time.  I do not know what the Ocean Explorer is.  If it is a vessel, it is certainly not mine. I do not know who Kermit is and I can tell you that since the crew members are employees of mine, mostly, except for the contractors who signed non-disclosure statements and other 3rd Party company personnel, it does not make sense.

0A
There were stories which were addressed in an interview with Ein Vandaag regarding our boat searching for oil before the vessel ever left the U.S.  I have not addressed any of these bullshit artists as I do not feel that the effort which was put forth by so many of us regarding the search and all that continues to take place in support of finding  Natalee’s remains are worth addressing.  The problem is that these people have nothing else to do but stir the pot.  They really need to get a life and put their efforts towards helping in the search.

I would like to see this photo of a man in a red shirt on the boat.  I have not seen it.  Could you please forward it to me.  I am sorry to hear that you and our group is being dragged in the mud by these people. I was told of this last week, but, have chosen not to respond to people like this.  We know what we did and what we are doing.  That is good enough for me and the Holloway family.  As for that supposed skull in the cage, that is all bull and quite frankly, I believe you r initial story of what that cage was being used for is probably correct.

Someday, hopefully, we will find her and all this garbage will be put to rest.  By the way, have you spoken with our friend?  I have sent him several emails with no response.  Please ask him to call me.

Best Regards,
John

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
FIRST: look at the dates. We have Silvetti telling Caps email dated Nov 24, 2008 asking about him searching for OIL, right???

BUT I do not post that information unil Feb 17, 2009

HOWEVER, THE EMAIL THAT YAPPERS REC'D FROM LALASMOM WAS DATED NOV. 22, 2008 - TWO DAYS AFTER LALASMOM/YAPPERZ HAD EMAIL JUG AND HE TOLD THEM SCHAEFER SAID THEY WERE MAPPING FOR OIL!

SO HOW COULD CAPS TELL JOHN SILVETTI IN AN EMAIL THAT IT WAS I WHO POSTED THAT JOHN WAS SEARCHING FOR OIL, WHEN IN FACT, IT WAS LALASMOM THAT EMAILED JUG AND JUG TOLD HER!!!!!
