Detectives seek public's help in finding new clues in the disappearance of Christy Luna in 1984

Detectives today called for the public's help in finding new clues about the mysterious disappearance of an 8-year-old Greenacres girl in 1984.

Christy Luna was never seen again after leaving her home to buy cat food at a neighborhood grocer on May 27, 1984. Detectives have been searching for traces of her ever since but are left with few clues.

Today, on International Missing Children's Day, the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office released photos and composite sketches of two men who they would like to know more information about.

One of the men died in a Tennessee prison but used to live in the West Palm Beach area near Greenacres and was arrested three times on charges of molesting children.

There is no apparent connection between the man, identified as Delbert Mosher, and Luna, but detectives would like to explore any possible links given his criminal past.

Investigators also released two composite sketches of a man who may have sexually attacked Luna in a park bathroom on the day she disappeared. Detectives cautioned, though, that the description comes from a woman whose recollection of being attacked along with Luna has been questioned by another friend, who says the woman is mixing two childhood memories.

Since Luna disappeared, several suspects have undergone scrutiny, including two men named Willis Rambo and Victor Wonyetye.

Rambo lived with his brother on the same street as the Lunas. Christy had been to their house several times, and the two brothers later were charged with molesting her best friend, a 6-year-old neighbor.

Rambo, now 52, is currently in state prison for raping his stepdaughters. But no evidence has emerged to link him to Christy's disappearance.

Wonyetye was a golf course worker who had moved down from New Hampshire earlier in 1984. He was reportedly at a party in Luna's neighborhood the day she disappeared. Not long after Christy's disappearance, Wonyetye moved back up to New Hampshire and got a job in a small town, where an 8-year-old girl disappeared on her way to her elementary school around the corner from the body shop where Wonyetye worked.

He quickly became the primary suspect in that disappearance as well, though he has never been charged. Her body has never been found either. Now 67, he is currently in state prison on charges of indecent exposure and burglary.

"He's never been eliminated" as a suspect, Sheriff's Sgt. Bill Springer said.

Christy's mother, Jennie Johnson, asked for anyone with information about the case to contact law enforcement.

"Somebody knows something," she said. "They just need to come forward."

Anyone with information is asked to call the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children at (800) 843-5678 or the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office at (561) 688-3400.

Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office released composite sketch of this man as he looked in the 1980s. A woman came forward to say she was attacked during that time (part of the investigation into the disappearance of 8-year-old Marjorie "Christy" Luna on May 27, 1984.)
