Man missing since Aug. 4
http://www.valdostadailytimes.com/local/local_story_222233443.html
VALDOSTA — Law enforcement officers continue to search for a man reportedly missing for several days.

Keith Allen Rocheleau, 47, was reported missing to the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office on Friday, Aug. 7, according to reports. He was last seen by his parents on Tuesday, Aug. 4, at his residence on Barrett Lane in Lowndes County.

According to the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office, “Keith Rocheleau lives on Barrett Lane by himself.

His parents, who live on Cooey Road in Brooks County, had gone out of town and left Rocheleau to watch their home.

When they returned, they discovered that his vehicle had been stuck in mud and abandoned.

Indications are that Rocheleau had attempted to free his vehicle by using his father’s vehicle. The father’s vehicle was found stuck and abandoned in the road ditch also on Cooey Road.”

All of Rocheleau’s medications, his cellular phone and other items were left behind.

Anyone with information about the whereabouts of Rocheleau is encouraged to call the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office at (229) 671-2950.

Shellbell - is this pic or the one with a mustache only most like he looks right now?  Can you get his height, weight, eye color those things off maybe driver's license?

I see Ed up there and I bet he will have great ideas.  But, I would gather that information - see if you can determine what clothes are missing or what he was last wearing (someone hopefully saw him that day).  It said he left his medicines behind - are they critical meds?  If so, you want it to read ENDANGERED MISSING and info on his illness.  (he might show up at an er or have symptoms that will alert anyone coming across him to his condition)
Then have a poster made - on the computer and take the disk to local printing shops and ask them if they can donate some printing or give you a great price.
I know there are better graphic monkeys than me, but if nobody can help you my email is in my profile - I will try to make it with the info you can gather.  I am decent at that type of thing, but I know we have some monkeys who are great.
Hugs to you and the family.

Shellbell, my prayers are with your friend and her family.  Does he have a disability of any sort that he needs meds for?  Can you check his doctor's office?

What a strange situation.. Almost like he got frustrated and walked off. But by this date he should have resurfaced.
What kind of medications? Does he have a large friend group ? What does he do for a living ?

Friends, family of missing man to search woods in Brooks County

Jessica Pope
VALDOSTA — With a little help from their friends and supporters, the family of a man who has been missing for three weeks will enter the woods today as they continue their search for answers.

The Brooks County Sheriff’s Office and Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office are both working the case.

Volunteers are needed to help comb through the area surrounding Keith Allen Rocheleau’s parents’ house on Cooey Road in southeastern Brooks County. All volunteers are asked to meet at the intersection of Rocky Ford Road and U.S. Highway 84 at 9 a.m. today.

Organizers are hopeful that those with all terrain vehicles and horses will be able to assist — despite the short notice — as the family of Keith Allen Rocheleau has, as one might expect, simply become desperate for answers, desperate for some sense of peace.

Keith Allen Rocheleau’s ex-wife, Dawn Rocheleau, said that his cellular phone, his glasses and his hat were all found in his parents’ yard. The shoes he was wearing at the time were found in the ditch, each one separated from the other by a few feet.

Dawn Rocheleau said that it appears Keith Allen Rocheleau had driven over to his parents’ house to simply check their mail and make sure everything was as it should be in the area.

“From the looks of things, he had only gone over there for a few minutes,” she said. “He had their dog at his house and had taken out some meat to thaw for dinner, but he never made it back home.”

Medications taken by Keith Allen Rocheleau were left behind as well. Dawn Rocheleau noted that he suffered from back, neck and shoulder problems.

Dawn Rocheleau said that a few people have tried to help the family search the area surrounding the parents’ house in the hopes of finding Keith Allen Rocheleau. However, they only got so far and were not able to find anything.

“His parents’ house sits just down the road from the Riverbend Plantation, which covers several thousand acres,” she said. “It’s a wooded area and is difficult to get around. The Withlacoochee River sits about a mile from the road.”

Dawn Rocheleau said that Keith Allen Rocheleau’s parents are devastated and that the whole family — including his three sons — is desperate to know what happened to him.

A Facebook page has been established by friends of Keith Allen Rocheleau. To access it, please visit www.Facebook.com and do a search for his name.

Anyone with information about the whereabouts of Keith Allen Rocheleau is encouraged to call the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office at (229) 671-2950 or the Brooks County Sheriff’s Office at 263-7558.

What We Think: Thumbs up, thumbs down

<snip>

THUMBS DOWN
: To anyone who has information regarding the whereabouts of Keith Allen Rocheleau but refuses to share it with the police. The father of three and Lowndes County resident has not been seen since Aug. 4, since he was left to watch his parents’ house and dog. He was reported missing by his parents after they returned to their home on Cooey Road in Brooks County on Aug. 7. His truck was stuck in a ditch near their house. His father's truck was stuck in a ditch down the road. He had a steak on the kitchen counter. The back door was open. His hat was in a flower bed. His glasses were practically in the woods. His cellular phone was in the yard. His shoes were in the ditch. But he was nowhere to be found.

This article is dated August 24th, but hadn't been posted here.  I think it may give a little more information and background:

http://www.valdostadailytimes.com/archivesearch/local_story_236234535.html
What We Think: Rocheleau one of many missing adults in U.S.

As of January 1, 2009, there were 102,764 active missing person records in the FBI’s National Crime Information Center’s Missing Person File. Persons under the age of 18 account for 49.7 percent of the records, while persons between the ages of 18 and 20 account for 12.3 percent and adults over the age of 20 account for 38 percent.
America’s missing persons are young and old and everything in between, male and female, rich and poor and middle of the road, black and white, etc.

Soon to be added to the Missing Person File — if not already included — is the case of Keith Allen Rocheleau.

The 47-year-old father of three sons was reported missing on Friday, Aug. 7. He was last seen by his parents on Tuesday, Aug. 4.

According to the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office, Rocheleau, a resident of Barrett Lane, was keeping a watchful eye on his parents’ house while the two of them were out of town. His ex-wife believes that Rocheleau visited his parents’ house that Tuesday to make sure everything was locked up and all was well on the property. She said he obviously had no intentions of being gone very long because he did not take his medication with him and had taken a pack of meat out of the freezer to thaw for dinner.

Rocheleau’s parents returned from their trip and found Rocheleau’s vehicle and his father’s vehicle stuck and abandoned in the ditch down the road, along with Rocheleau’s shoes. His hat, glasses and cellular phone were in the yard.

Rocheleau was nowhere to be found, and no one has heard from him since. His ex-wife noted that someone in the area did report that they tried to help him pull his vehicle out of the ditch Tuesday night. It was the last time he was reportedly seen.

Rocheleau’s family and friends are very eager to organize a large-scale search party effort to comb the woods surrounding his parents’ house. There are thousands of acres in the area, as well as the Withlacoochee River. They are hopeful that he will be found alive but have considered the possibility that maybe he was hit by a vehicle, the victim of a crime of opportunity, had a heart attack or stroke, or was bitten by a snake. Rocheleau’s family has established a Facebook page that can be accessed by visiting www.facebook.com and doing a search for his full name.

Lowndes County and Brooks County need to join forces and help Rocheleau’s family and friends in their quest for answers. Share his story with others in the area. Organize a search party. He may be an adult, but Keith Allen Rocheleau is someone’s son, someone’s father, someone’s best friend and they deserve peace of mind, if not his safe return.

It looks like he may have ran into trouble ..
The glasses were found on the lawn... The hat in the bushes... Shoes separated and in a ditch..
Almost like some person/s took him away..
It may have been some sort of attempt at robbery ?? They did not want witness ?
Some sort of altercation ?
He surprized somebody ?
Something..

GBI takes over Rocheleau investigation
Search continues for missing man

By Jessica Pope

The Valdosta Daily Times —

QUITMAN — The search continues for a Lowndes County man who has been missing for five weeks. When asked for an update on the search for Keith Allen Rocheleau, the Brooks County Sheriff’s Office reported that the Georgia Bureau of Investigation is now in charge of the case.
Agents were called in roughly one week ago, sheriff’s office deputies and investigators having exhausted all means possible to locate the father of three. Keith Allen Rocheleau, according to reports, was reported missing to the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office on Friday, Aug. 7. He was last seen by John and Rose Rocheleau, his parents, on Tuesday, Aug. 4, at his home on Barrett Lane in Lowndes County. They had asked him to watch their house and take care of their dog while they went out of town for a few days.

Sometime between that Tuesday and that Friday, Rocheleau got his truck stuck in a ditch just down the road from his parents’ house.

Authorities said that there is evidence that he attempted to free his truck using his father’s truck without success. His father’s truck was found quite a distance down the road, traveling away from the house.

Keith Allen Rocheleau’s mother and father found both trucks abandoned when they returned home. His hat was in a flower bed. His cellular phone was in the yard. His glasses were found at the edge of their property line near the woods. A steak was on the kitchen counter, having been left out for days. The back door was open, but nothing was missing. The dog was fine.

Keith Allen Rocheleau was nowhere to be found.

Brooks County Sheriff Mike Dewey, in a previous interview with The Times, shared, “We have spent several hours searching the area in a helicopter. We have had blood hounds in the area three times. The first time was the weekend right after he disappeared. They did not find anything.”

Brooks County authorities have said that they do not believe that Keith Allen Rocheleau is near his parents’ property in the Riverbend Plantation area, which reportedly covers 8,000 or so acres. If he was dead in the woods, there would have been some obvious signs, like buzzards flying around, they said.

“There is no evidence of foul play” in the Cooey Road area, authorities noted.

Of course, they were quick to add that this lack of evidence does not mean that Rocheleau is OK. He could have accepted a ride from the wrong person. No one knows. They can only speculate.

It seems that asking questions only leads to more questions, not answers.

On Wednesday, Aug. 26, some three dozen men and women gathered to search for answers in the Keith Allen Rocheleau case.

However, by the end of the day, all everyone was left with were more questions, the most important one being, Where is Keith Allen Rocheleau?

Organized by Pam Mathis and Chris Roland, the last-minute citizen investigation was an attempt to give the family of Keith Allen Rocheleau, 47, some peace of mind. The father of three sons and friend of many had — at the time — not been seen in just over three weeks.

“I am just a concerned citizen,” said Mathis, who works for Century 21 Winnersville Inc. “I learned about the case and simply wanted to do something to help this family.

Mathis and Roland met through a Help Find Keith Allen Rocheleau Facebook page. Neither knew the Rocheleau family personally. Both of them had to only imagine what it must be like to have a loved one missing to want to offer some assistance.

Carrying little more than a walking stick, a bottle of cold water and a cellular phone, the volunteers spent the next six hours combing through several miles of pine trees and brush standing an average of six feet high.

Every pile of dirt led to further inspection, often ending up being declared a gopher hole.

Patches of folded over brush brought a strange sense of hope.

A Facebook page has been established by friends of Keith Allen Rocheleau. To access it, please visit www.Facebook.com and do a search for his name.

Anyone with information about the whereabouts of Keith Allen Rocheleau is encouraged to call the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office at (229) 671-2950 or the Brooks County Sheriff’s Office at (229) 263-7558.
