ORLANDO -- It's a setback for Casey Anthony's defense team.

Judge Stan Strickland decided not to put off Anthony's check fraud trial.

Her legal team wanted the trial put on hold until her murder trial was over.

In his ruling, Strickland said few witnesses will be called in the trial and excluding jury selection, it should not take more than a day or two.

A start date for that trial or the start of her murder trial has not been set.

Hi Monkeys!  Peeking in from work, only have a minute...

Speedy Trial Request Granted In Casey Fraud Case
Check Fraud Trial To Take Place Before Anthony's Murder Trial

POSTED: 11:15 am EDT September 3, 2009
UPDATED: 12:02 pm EDT September 3, 2009
ORLANDO, Fla. -- Judge Stan Strickland has ruled on the state's request for a speedy trial in the forgery case against Casey Anthony.

The defense argued that holding this trial before Casey Anthony's murder trial would hamper its ability to prepare for the murder trial.

The state offered a plea from Amy Huizenga, who is Anthony's friend from whom she allegedly stole money.

Huizenga said this has caused her mental stress; her name pops on the Internet in connection with the case which embarrasses her. Also, she worries it will hurt her chances of finding a job.

Strickland has approved the motion for a speedy trial, so the forgery trial will go before the murder trial.

Strickland will set a date for the trial in the near future.

The state has offered to go non-jury with this trial, allowing a judge to hear the testimony and rule on the charges.

In a statement to Local 6, the defense team said the ruling was “disappointing. All our resources need to be focused on defending Casey Anthony from the State's determination to seek the death penalty.”

Anthony is charged with 13 felony counts stemming from her allegedly forging and passing checks on July 10 and 15, 2008, after Huizenga left her check book in a car she let Casey use while Huizenga was on vacation in Puerto Rico that month.

The maximum penalty for each third-degree felony is up to five years in prison.

Thanks cece!! Disappointing....LOL I'll bet!!

I read that post by Noor on RU.  I don't think it was appropriate for that bald guy to talk to someone on an internet forum who will post what he said.  In fact, I wonder what the producers of the "Today" show would say about his doing that.  I might just find out.

Kind of stupid for him to say the Anthonys' trust him at the same time he is discussing them from the 'inside'  with an anonymous blogger, wouldn't you say?

He's only saying what the Anthonys want the public to hear.

HUGE SCORE!!! for AMY, poor thing, she just tried to be a friend and got screwed by Casey. This will be awesome. As far as Jim, i am pretty sure since he is tight with the A's and clearly believes what they are telling him, that whatever he says, he hopes will be put on the blogs since it puts the A's in a different light as victims instead of what they are LIARS. So although Jim may be nice, i wouldnt put too much into what he says, but the theory of the died hair making it look like a death band is interesting and i bet we hear alot more on that in the future from bozo and his gruesome clan

That is interesting about the death band & hair dye.  I couldn't find anything on the internet about it, but maybe one of our smart monkeys can find something on it.

Cece,I looked on this link..      http://www.erowid.org/psychoactives/testing/testing_faq.shtml#2.

So far nothing on death band.I know there is a smart monkey here that can tell us.

Casey Anthony: Could she be a felon by time of murder trial?
posted by halboedeker on Sep 3, 2009 12:25:30 PM

The date for Casey Anthony's check-forgery trial will be set soon, WKMG-Channel 6 reported at noon today.

What does it mean? "Casey Anthony could be a convicted felon by the time she faces trial next summer for her life in the murder of her daughter, Caylee," WKMG's Tony Pipitone said.

Anthony's defense team had asked for the check-fraud case to be delayed after the murder trial. Pipitone said the defense team told him today that it was disappointed in Judge Stan Strickland's ruling and that it needs to focus on the murder trial.

Pipitone speculated that the check-fraud trial could start this month or next. Anthony faces 13 felony counts in the forgery case, and each is punishable by up to five years in prison, Pipitone explained.

Strickland said that Amy Huizenga, the check-forgery victim, made a compelling argument to get the case over, Pipitone explained. Huizenga is Anthony's former best friend.

Cece,so far this is all I found on bleach and hair.
http://www.fbi.gov/hq/lab/fsc/backissu/jan2004/research/2004_01_research01b.htm
Artificial treatment: Bleaching removes pigment from the hair and can give the hair a characteristic yellow cast. The cortical cell margins may become more prominent and cortical fusi may develop. In addition, harsh or repeated treatments can make the hair shaft brittle, and the scales will appear disturbed. Artificial bleaching can be distinguished from solar bleaching by a sharper line of demarcation between the bleached and unbleached regions. To the experienced examiner, dyed hairs possess an unnatural cast or color. In addition, the cuticle will take on the color of the dye (Figure 70). If hair generally grows at the rate of one half-inch per month, the distance can be measured from the root to the line of demarcation of the dyed portion to estimate the time since dyeing. Repeated dyeing or bleaching results in several lines of demarcation. This would serve to further individualize a particular hair specimen.

So are they going to say Caylee's hair was dyed?  Could be why Cindy asked some strange question to Casey about the last time at the beauty shop, or something like that, during a jail house visit

Sunny, That sounds right to me, but I'm hoping one of our smart Monkeys will give us the scoop on this.
Since the two cases somewhat overlap (in my mind) I guess she may be on the look out for anything in the check fraud that would have an affect on the murder trial?  Just a guess from me.

I remember that too NoRose.  But didn't Casey say she hadn't been.
