I've had two friends with hijacked email addresses recently.  Female friend's email was sending Korean tech items and the male friend's email was sending a friend/dating website.  The scary part is that they had my email and many of our other friends and relatives.

I've had two friends with hijacked email addresses recently.  Female friend's email was sending Korean tech items and the male friend's email was sending a friend/dating website.  The scary part is that they had my email and many of our other friends and relatives.     

That is what happened today with mine too. This email was saying she was in Nigeria, had left her passport, money etc. in a taxi  and she needed $2000.00 to pay her hotel bill or she would be sent to jail. Of course, upon her return she would reimburse me. I responded to her that for $5000.00 I would consider thinking about it. 

But the whole ordeal really scared me....I had to change a lot of info to make sure nobody could get access to my important info. It took me hours to do so and with speaking with several computer geeks from various account I have, I feel confident that all is ok now, probably was to begin with, but who can take a chance these days? Not me!!!

that is scary!!  I hope 'they' don't get your email.  Changing email addys is a mess, for me anyway.
