Has anything else been reported about the bone they found? I wonder if the DNA came up positive for one of these girls and if that is what prompted the search?

Conference was about they are searching for Ilene Misheloff and Michaela Garecht. Must have some evidence to think their bodies might be buried there on the property.

Jaycee Dugard is likely to testify in her own case

The top prosecutor in the Jaycee Dugard case said yesterday that Jaycee is likely to testify against her alleged kidnappers in the trial, and begged the public to leave Jaycee and her family alone until the trial, which won’t begin for 1-2 years.

Standing out in the front of the courthouse after the Phillip and Nancy Garrido hearing yesterday, the District Attorney stated, "The family has been doing exceptionally well under the circumstances ... (but) as Abraham Lincoln said, let us all rise to the better angels of our nature and leave this family alone during the time of their reunification," Vern Pierson said.  He stated that the international media swarm has been tough on the family, since Jaycee Dugard was rescued last month, reported The San Francisco Chronicle.

Garridos are focus of additional kidnap probes

Hayward and Dublin police are searching two homes outside Antioch today with links to kidnap-rape suspects Phillip Craig Garrido and his wife, looking for evidence in the kidnappings of two Bay Area girls more than 20 years ago, authorities said.

Hayward police, speaking outside the homes on Walnut Avenue, said they were investigating whether the Garridos were involved in the kidnapping of 9-year-old Michaela Garecht, and police from Dublin were looking for evidence in the disappearance of 13-year-old Ilene Misheloff.

The homes have been the target of other searches since kidnap victim Jaycee Dugard turned up last month, 18 years after she was abducted at age 11 in South Lake Tahoe. Garrido and his wife, Nancy, are charged with kidnapping and raping her.

Michaela, who was known as Kayla, was hanging out with a friend at a Hayward store Nov. 19, 1988, when she was snatched by a man who drove off in a dilapidated, gold-color car.

Police have noted similarities between a sketch of Michaela's kidnapper and Phillip Garrido's appearance at the time, as well as the ages of Michaela and Dugard and the way both girls were kidnapped.

Dublin police are also participating in the search to see if the Garridos are linked to the disappearance of Ilene, who vanished while walking near her Dublin home Jan. 30, 1989, a little more than two months after Michaela was kidnapped.

The searches today were being conducted with the assistance of the Alameda and the Contra Costa sheriff's departments and the FBI, said Hayward police Lt. Chris Orrey.

Police at Tuesday's search said they were considering a step that is rare in criminal investigations: knocking down the Garridos' home to see if anything might be buried underneath.

"We are working with Contra Costa County and the people who have conservatorship of the property to see if that's possible," said Dublin police Lt. Kurt von Savoye. "There's a possibility the home may be taken down anyway."

He did not say who had legal ownership of the home, which the county has red-tagged as uninhabitable.

I would think conservatorship needs to be looked at.

National Enquirer claims victory in race for first photo of Jaycee Lee Dugard
Posted by Guy Adams

There was high excitement in the press bleachers at Placerville Court in California yesterday, when Phillip Garrido was informed that Jaycee Lee Dugard will give evidence when he’s tried for abducting, raping and holding her hostage for 18 years.

Quite aside from the potential courtroom drama it heralded, Dugard’s decision to appear on the witness stand meant the world will finally get to see the face of the woman it knows only from the “missing” posters circulated after her abduction in 1991.

Sadly, for the assembled press pack, at least, that particular “exculsive” now seems to have been scotched. America’s National Enquirer magazine today published what it claims is a recent picture of Jaycee Lee. You can see it above.

It is purportedly taken from the business card of Printing For Less, the firm Garrido ran from his home in Antioch. The magazine was given it by local barber Wayne Thompson, who met Dugard when he brought his own business cards from the firm.

I fear the same thing.  I hope that there may be closure for other families if he had done something to others.

I hope they do knock that house of horrors down. There's no need to keep it as a reminder of the unspeakable things that went on there.

New Garrido Search Raises Hopes Of Missing Girl's Mom

Posted: 12:02 pm PDT September 15, 2009Updated: 12:20 am PDT September 16, 2009
ANTIOCH, Calif. -- The mother of a Michaela Garecht said her hopes of finding her daughter were “higher than they have been in many years” Tuesday after police ramped up their search for clues linking Phillip Garrido to the disappearances of Garecht and Ilene Misheloff over two decades ago.

Hayward and Dublin police said Tuesday they will spend "many more days" searching the home in unincorporated Antioch where Phillip and Nancy Garrido allegedly kept kidnap victim Jaycee Dugard for the past 18 years.

Searchers return this morning to home of Jaycee Dugard kidnap suspects (with video)

ANTIOCH, Calif. (AP) — Investigators are back at the Northern California home of a couple already charged with one child abduction seeking any evidence that might link them to two other cases in the 1980............

“We know that based on the Dugard investigation as well as Mr. Garrido’s history, people who commit these offenses tend to be predatory and tend to have multiple victims,” Dublin police Lt. Kurt von Savoye said.

Police said they were looking for clothes, DNA evidence, remains and other possible links to the abductions. Orrey said Tuesday police hadn’t found anything “earth-shattering,” but some items collected warranted a second look.

Investigators used equipment that could pick up pieces of dental fillings and teeth in the soil and any disturbances in the ground. They were also interested in what is behind walls, under flooring and under the ground, Orrey said.

Jaycee Dugard's Terror Tents: Police Search for Teeth of Two Kidnapped Girls

<snipped>

Nancy Garrido's lawyer posted a statement on his blog about Tuesday's search. Gilbert Maines said he and Phillip Garrido's attorney had planned an inspection of the property, and he was surprised when he found police and media there. He said he had no knowledge of the search. The posting also said Maines would not comment further.

Wasn't the house PG's mother's house?  She was living there until they were caught, then I thought the county or someone moved her to a nursing home.  I guess the county, LE, whoever could use eminent domaine and then pay her for the house and do what they want with it.  I really doubt anyone else would buy it anyway since it is considered uninhabitable.   By the looks of what we saw of the house and backyard..anyone searching there for anything has their work cut out for them.
