Karma, in the last thread I thanked you for posting these photos of Caylee. In case you missed it with the change...again, I thank you. It is wonderful to see a smiling, happy Caylee.  That is how I want to forever remember her.

Look up Case Number:     2008-CA-023069-O

This has something to do with the Anthony's Homeowners Assoc. as far as I can tell. This case started on 9/21/09 and ended 10/7/08. Anybody know what this is about?  Yeah, I'm nosey!

I was reading a little on the last thread. Sorry, I have been busy today and have not thoroughly finished. I can't remember who brought it up or I would credit them. Someone said something about if they could find a piece of duct tape with some of Caylee's live cells on it, and it made me think of this. I am going to run it by, and ones with more forensic knowledge may can answer.

I always thought it was peculiar that one small piece of duct tape was on the gas can. I have tried to think of a good reason for it to be there. I thought at one time that it was used to close the vent to prevent fumes from building up in the shed or trunk (bad idea), or to patch a leak. It looked as if it were not new. However, knowing how duct tape is, it wouldn't adhere to a place that leaked, or vented, as it would break the adhesive. It could have been to mark the can. Some people put their name or initial on a can, but we saw a closeup of the tape, and could see the name Henkle, but no other markings that I can recall.

As Casey had run out of gas before, I am wondering if the can may have been in her car trunk at one time, and at a time she taped Caylee either the last time, or one time before. It looked to me like a piece of tape that was too long, or torn in the wrong place, and was just stuck on the can to get it out of the way to continue. I have done it myself before. What I am wondering if it could either have some of Caylee's "live" cells, or maybe that and a fingerprint of Casey's. Would it still retain the cells and fingerprints, even stuck on the can? I'm thinking it would, but I could be wrong.

If we have talked about this before, I don't remember. If we have, nevermind. I just wondered what a better thinker than me thought about this. The piece of tape on the can has always made me wonder why it was there. And I am wondering if that is why the LE was interested in it so much. I think they found a roll of the tape, but I am not sure at this time about it right now. As I said, I've been very busy today.

I hope everyone has had a nice day. The pictures on the last thread were beautiful.   an angelic monkey

Hi Fanny! Originally, I had thought they took the gas can with the tape, so they could match the tape, knowing the can belonged to the A's. But now you bring up something else to consider

At one time I also thought that maybe KC had used it, trying to tape Caylee, and somehow it had gotten stuck on something else, or didn't stick to her the right way, or...

I'm like this  when it comes to forensics. Hopefully someone like ANJM or Desi will pop in wth their opinion.

Or maybe  .....maybe KC started with the piece of tape, and then realized, carp, my fingerprint will be on this, so she started a different piece, and stuck the original one on the can...But that would mean she would have had to have the can with or near her, which is possible too, lol.

Sorry, just thinking out loud.

I was too, GIZZIE. I was more or less thinking out loud myself.

Good evening, Monkeys.  I have been considering what evidence the gas can might yield, too.

The duct tape on the gas can matches the duct tape found on Caylee's skull, per the docs released.  It is the Henkel Industrial Fire-resistant type that was not widely sold, and is therefore a very fortunate find.  Supposedly less than one-fifth of one percent of all duct tape sold in the few years prior to Caylee's death is of this kind.  Extremely rare.
http://www.clickorlando.com/news/20713777/detail.html

The strip of duct tape on the gas can, damning though it is based on what we know so far, would be that much more of a smoking gun, if it held evidence that would link Casey to Caylee's death or the remains site.  I was wondering if this strip, since it is in perfect shape and not degraded like the strips found with Caylee's remains, might have very clear fingerprints... and what if it also had residue of products of decomposition?  Or even a hair or two of Caylees, showing a death band?  Would we know about this yet, if evidence like this were known by the State?

I also wonder what residual evidence might be on the handle of the gas can, or on the bottom.  Guess I'm just hoping really hard for something solid.

Here is a pic that resembles the top of the A's gas can, right down to the type of handle and type of screw-on filler hose.  It looks to me like the duct tape in the evidence photo of the A's gas can is covering what must be the vent opening.  JMO.

P.S.  The apology I posted in the last thread was sincere and considerably thought-out, and I do stand by it.  I regret the hoopla that ensued.  Hugs to all Monkeys, and goodnight.

That tape seems to be holding down the air vent that they usually have on gas cans.  It is usually a little plastic cap that you open when you are pouring gas out of the spout to allow the air to pass into the can to make the pouring less 'chug a lug'  (sorry couldn't think of another way to explain).  Hope this makes sense.
