Oh, Rose, that was so beautiful I had to steal it! I'm standing on that road, you can't see me cos I'm dressed in my camos. I've got a backpack on (iPod plugged in, of course), and I'm just gonna walk that road till it runs out. Maybe it ends at a beach, and there'll be a little sailboat that I can steal and sail as far as I can. Hmmmm...nice thoughts! Thanks so much for my trip!

Heading to a rally Saturday in Minneapolis, the president used his weekly radio and Internet address to focus on government figures showing that nearly half of all Americans live without health insurance in a 10-year period. He said the situation will worsen without the changes he wants and that losing coverage can happen to anyone.

"I intend to be president for a while and once this bill passes, I own it. And if people look and say, You know what? This hasn't reduced my costs. My premiums are still going up 25 percent, insurance companies are still jerking me around. I'm the one who's going to be held responsible. So I have every incentive to get this right," he said in an excerpt of the CBS interview released Saturday.

I was in DC in May of 02 (I've talked about the two babbling teens I took with me before). We went to the Smithsonian Museum (where, even with the major security, I was able to go in with a jackknife in my purse, us country girls always carry a Swiss Army knife)
and they had a 9-11 display. It was this huge piece of steel from one of the towers, and it was surrounded by things that had been found at the site. Melted cell phones, burned shoes and briefcases...lots of paper. I remember thinking then "For some of those people, this is all that remains of their lives." At that time, we all were pretty sure they'd never be able to ID all the victims. Oh, and there was the huge flag they had hung on the Pentagon as a backdrop. It was a very crowded room, but the only sound you could hear was people crying.

And now they want to build a memorial in Shanksville that is not only crescent shaped, but it points east, towards Mecca. It's a Muslim thing, and in this case, I think it's highly inappropriate. And that's my rag for today!

Why would they build a memorial like that, it makes no sense whatsover. And insulting to the families that lost loved ones there.
