I found this recipe the other day while I was looking for the one Bud's Girl asked about.  I ahve to say Yum!  I added some hot pepper flakes to mine but I am sure it is good without them

Bacon Cornbread

6 Slices bacon roughly chopped
2c yellow cornmeal
1 c flour
3 TBSP sugar
2 tsp baking powder
2 tsp salt
4 eggs
2 c milk
1c cheese (cheddar or Monterey jack)

In a cast iron skillet fry bacon chunks.  fry until crisp, remove from pan.  Reserve remaining bacon grease.  In a bowl mix all dry ingredients.  In another bowl mix milk and eggs.  Pour wet into dry bowl and mix with a wooden spoon.  Add bacon into batter (this is where I also added pepper flakes and chives)  Brush the cast iron pan with bacon grease.  Pour in batter and bake for 25 min at 375.  Remove from oven, sprinkle cheese on top, put under broiler until cheese is melted.  Serve.

Now, that really sounds good! I always like to make cornbread in the cooler months, and it is getting there fast! I'm copying this one. Thanks! We need a cooking monkey.

BRB Monkeys. I am not skating today, but I am going to run up to the drug store and buy some Nyquil or something to make me feel better. Even the magical cough syrup isn't doing its job today.

Plus it is raining and Josef seems to like to walk in the rain when there is no thunder.
Be careful with Nyquil  an angelic monkey Zoe does also, walks around doesn't even think that we are in the rain for her to go to the bathroom, she thinks we are sightseeing    She just left with my husband to go get groomed, we couldn't get her in the car, the garbage men were emptying cans and she is scared. Only scared in the house, if we are out walking she is not afraid of them. If someone could explain this dog to me I would be thrilled  Now I will empty the bookcase, and replant a big plant into a giant container
It is pouring No Rose and he wants to keep walking. Poor Zoe, being scared. I wish someone could explain her and Josef too!  an angelic monkey

Wish I could help with the explanation buy my idiot dog is like that as well.  He hates the sound of power tools, becomes a leg leach and starts hyperventalating and shaking .  My daughter brought her flute home from school yesterday to practice.  When she started putting it together he freaked out, tried to crawl under my chin.  I told her he must have thought is was a power tool.  It has to be part of the blue healer breed. Idiot dog has more blue healer in him than border or Shepard so we see all his quirks.

Me too!  I love cornbread with my corn chowder.  Corn is not ready yet but it is true comfort food and a sure sign fall is here when I make corn chowder and corn bread.

It's not just dogs. Miss Kitty is terrified of my son's new guitar. Not just the sound of it, but the day he walked in the door with it she ran in terror. He doesn't even hook it up to an amp here, but if she hears  him playing it she runs under the bed. Cats are weird too.

Tevye, I wished I would have seen that exhibition when I was in DC, but Dear Leader's face was plastered all over the city. The worst part of my trip is when I wanted to punch a kid in the face when we went to Arlington Cemetary. She said "look at all the murderers buried here". It took all I had to keep from going over the seat in that bus and knocking her lights out.

The Pentagon tour my sister and I took was great. We were with a group of home schoolers and their parents. The kids were so smart about history and when we went into the memorial for the victims at the Pentagon, it was so small, but somber. Every one, including the children wept. I had to walk out I didn't want the hot Marine giving the tour to see me bawl like a baby.

And yes, I forgot to mention that it points towards Mecca

I went to the National Park service's page for this memorial. Interestingly enough, they have removed the "overall" plan/pic, and replaced it with pics of each area. I'm sure this was meant to make us watch their right hand while their left hand flips us the bird. They're not fooling anyone!
Tevye, I don't think the NPS wants the cat out of the bag until they get it built. I know a lot of the family members are pizzed about it.

Here is a website that explains it pretty good.

Do you buy regular corn meal, or do you have a place to get it stone ground?

Also, if you go to CNN.com, they have a ticker across the top where you can watch the whole program live. Man, I love the internet!
Wonder if this will work? Also, when you click on the tea party tag, it will ask if you want to install a flash add-on, just say no. It means that your computer and others are being used to "seed" the program, and we don't want to help CNN!

http://www.cnn.com/video/flashLive/live.html?stream=stream2&iref=lb100
What does seed mean Tevye? I clicked on no when I looked at it earlier.

I have to go help lay some flooring in my back hall and mud room.  I am so happy it may all be back together before the snow flys! (this year I hope).  Daughter spent the night at a friends, so going to pick her up soon.  Son just told me he invited a friend over for lunch and video game show down, my day is shot and I still feel crappy.  Massive stomach cramps today.

Why is that they keep walking in the rain, sniffing  And then when I get to the garage I have to dry her all off with a towel and look out if I touch her feet the wrong way  I can't believe I have all my fingers left.  Northern Rose that recipe for bacon cornbread looks great
Yeah, I had to dry him off and he really needs a bath. He stinks when he is gets wet and I can't bathe him myself. So, I guess Monday, he will get one at daycare. Then he starts chewing on his feet when he is wet. He just got a benadryl to make him stop.

The one thing about heelers, they dry off pretty quickly.

Just regular cornmeal in a plastic bag from grocery store.  I have a contact that grinds wheat, oats, rye, etc for me for my breads, but never thought about if he could grind cornmeal for me.  I am not sure we could get the right whole corn to grind up here to be honest with you.

I'm not sure what kind it takes either. We have a couple of old working mills up here where you can by stone ground meals.

Beer drinking monkey, cooking monkey, dog walking monkey. I'm a hungry monkey. I want Chinese food, but I don't dare call my mom and ask her to bring me some. I will get the you need to quit smoking lecture. She wanted me to go back to the doctor yesterday because she is afraid this may turn into pneumonia. I told her I would go Monday if I don't feel better. I just think I over did it last night and will finish up tomorrow. Rest today and hang out with the monkeys. And watch the protesters!!

I tried the rest thing yesterday and my bedroom was a non-stop parade of people and animals coming in and laying on the bed with me as they asked questions, talked, played a flute, etc..  I figure if hubby can do flooring with his back I can suck it up and help him.  If we are still alive after the floor maybe we can get a toilet back in there as well today.  It would be so nice to have a mud room back and functional with sink and all right off the back door rather than everyone cutting through the house to get to the basement sink.  Especially now that fall is setting in and there is so much to do outside that gets messy.

I've been giving the kitchen a deep cleaning this week. I have had to go a little at the time. Today I have been working on cabinets, and doing some rearranging. I can watch the bigscreen TV from there, so I'll watch the march at DC and clean. BBL.
