I'm not giving up my soda either, but if I lived in Canada where the prices are so high, I guess there would be no soda buying  That's strange why in that part of Canada the prices are so high, but I read somewhere that it is very high in Hawaii also.
It's the transportation costs to get the product to the consumer. It's also the law of supply and demand. If I own the only store in town that sells Diet Coke, I'll try to get $7 a 12 pack for it. If I sell enough at that price, I'll keep it high. If not, then I'll lower the price. I will sell it at whatever the market will bear. (And I'm a creep for selling one of life's essentials at such a rip-off price!)

I wonder if NORTHERN ROSE could make beer?? My kid's cousin tried to make some one time, and  the corks kept popping off the tops!!  Monkey Devil!

I meant the caps kept popping off.

I guess there's too much going on to post right now. I will try to come back later.

Transportation costs can be part of why it is so expenive. Yes Hawaii is outrageous also. That is why they are the leading consumers of Spam in the USA.

My husband use to cut it very thin and fry it up, and it wasn't too bad, the kids use to love it. But once I was at a friend's house and the mother made spam sandwiches, right out of the can on bread, and it was gross, but I ate it. I was taught to eat what the person was serving if you are a guest, even if it means you will vomit violently when you get home

Thanks Tevye. I forgot about the supply and demand. It is called Capitalism and that doesn't make you a creep for selling at high prices, just means you are an entrepreneur

You are a better person the me. I don't think I could have eaten it. I don't like it fried, raw or even smelling it makes me gag.

But I used to like Underwoods deviled ham in the can. Miracle whip, white bread and deviled ham. Haven't had that in a while. It would probably make me gag now because it reminds me of dog food.

I won't drink Koolaid either. Lived on it as a kid, it has to be diet coke, ML or sweet tea. Water doesn't pass my lips except to brush my teeth.
