Northern I hope this may help. It talks about their quirks and why they are the way they are.

The first time he did it I did not think it was cute.  I was relaxing from a bad headache and felt like something was breathing on me.  I opened my eyes and there he was.  It was pretty creepy.  Hubby says he does that in case I drown he will drink the tub empty to save me.  When I go out of town on business it is usually he77 for the whole family the entire time I am gone - in the house, out of the house, in the house , out of the house.  He will wake everyone up by licking them awake all night long to go out and then back in.  When I get back he is even more attached and will not let me out of his sight for even a minute.

JSM when I get my chickens next spring how is that going to work with him?

JSM when I am in the kitchen at the stove he will lay squarely behind me so if I step back I go flying.  It makes me crazy.  I have even put a rug down for him out of the way , but nope he needs to be under foot.  If I am on the computer he will lay squarely across the door threshhold so I can not get out without stepping over him.  My hubby calls him Mommy attached as I can leave the room that the whole family is in and he will follow me.

I am in my office, here he is across the door from one end to the other right now.

That is just like Josef, but closer to the computer. It is really bad when you can't go to the bathroom by yourself and they know how to open the door with the door knob.

OMG I was not going to tell you about the bathroom  as I thought you would think I was crazy.  If I am in the bathroom he will open the door and then just stand there and stare.  If I am in the tub he will come in and put his chin on the edge of the tub until I am done.  I swear he really does.
Oh yeah, they do that. Finally I started sprinkling him with water and he stays now in the doorway and stares until I get out. It is crazy.

I have been reading about your dogs, and laughing. I love dogs too, and wish I had one. I missed every dog I ever had. But we have enough fur flying around here! If we had more room, I would get a dog. Most of the residences in our neighborhood are condos, with most people working every day. I am amazed to see all the dogs their owners take out every afternoon and morning for a walk. Some are very large dogs too, and I hope they are mostly in daycare and not left home alone every day.

I have been gone most all afternoon and evening. We usually do our large shopping on Friday when my son can do the heavy lifting, but he is going to have to work this Friday, and tomorrow is his long day, so he wanted to do it tonight. Now I am really exhausted, and I think I may be one of the People of Walmart, as I left home with hardly any notice. I will never tell if I see myself on the site though. I can tell you that I wasn't wearing anything too short, and my big fanny was definitey not hanging out. The rest I will not admit to.

I know what you mean Northern about being away. Since Josef was boarded on Monday, he is totally up my arse, pacing up and down when I just go to get him some ice.

I'm not sure how the chickens will work out though, if he goes for mice, he may go for chickens. My neighbors used to have chickens, but they were behind a fence and they didn't bother Josef.

If you have a coop (I think that is what they are called) chickens should be fine, but if not I would maybe get one or two and then see what happens. I know Josef likes to chase the ducks and geese, but he is on a leash and they can fly away.

I don't know what it is about Walmart, but I'm tired everytime I leave there, it is a place that nobody likes going to, but we all end up going there to shop.

Your kitty looks like it has it's winter coat already! Mine are beginning to get the thick undercoat again. That is how I can see for sure that winter is on the way. Your kitty is beautiful. He or she, and name?

Between our cat and the dog I have enough fur to stuff a pillow once a month.  That is why I love my roomba's so much!

Your posts about the roomba's have made me rethink it again. I thought they might just be a passing fad, but if you like them, I can take it to the bank!

I LOVE my roomba's.  Mine are the middle model that came with the electronic wall.  They are green and grey.  I set them loose every day and because they adjust the height automatically they go from tile, to hardwood to area rug to rug with no issues.  I could never keep up with the animal hair without them.  Every now and then they get stuck under a chair but they send you a beeping signal to let you know they have shut off and are stuck.  They are low enough that they go under the beds!  They are also stair smart and have brushes that get right against the base boards.  I clean the canister and filter after every use as it picks up the cat dander and dust.  I just take the filter outside  with a can of air and blow it out.  I bought my Mom a scooba which is the model that washes your floors.  She was skeptical but loves it now.  The docking station on the scooba has a plastic mat to catch any water at the end if it is still spraying when it self docks to charge.  I know I have convinced almost everyone I work with to buy a roomba and they all love them as well.
