I saw on FoxNews this morning that Hugo Chavez was shutting down radio and TV stations all over the country. I was looking for the story, but I haven't found it yet. I wonder if he has managed to shut down the internet down in Venezuela yet?

It should be obvious to anyone watching that this man is quickly becoming a ruthless dictator, and is using all the same tactics that Fidel Castro used to seize power in Cuba after he led the revolution with the farmers. Now Venezuela, or rather Hugo Chavez and his group called ALBA have interfered with the elections in Argentina, Ecuador, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Bolivia, and they are working to change the governments in several other nations as well.

Interestingly enough, none of this is being reported inside of Venezuela. Even bloggers have been rounded up and put in jail, and several have left the country. Please consider all this.

I think this morning's story was he had closed down a bunch more and was threatening to shoot tear gas into the Globovision to make them shut down.

I was thinking about that speech Obama was giving to the school kids today, where I live the kids aren't even back in school yet, not until Thursday    But I remember some stupid John F Kennedy excercise program that we had to do  and no parent complained about that, and they should have, that was hard work, and all I did was complain while having to do it    That's because the parents didn't have to do the exercising

NIte Monks, tomorrow's the big day (I think) when I get the pathology reports back. I promised my doc I would wait for him to call me, and accept no info from anyone but him.

And, to kill the time, I have a 10 page paper due on Wednesday, and a new class to prep for. I swear there's a reason I procrastinate on these things for a reason, and God gets it.

JSM, I surely hope you feel better tomorrow. When I take codiene, I get a headache, so that may be your problem. Take a day off from work, hang out here and kill time with me! I'll write you a note!

Northern Rose, thanks so much for all the pics, they truly crack me up!

And for the rest of you, thanks for doing all the things I couldn't this weekend: BBQing, painting, kvetching about your DHs... it makes me realize that this holding pattern is getting boring and tomorrow I am going for at least a 1 mile walk. Then, if that goes well, I'm firing up the Bugs Bunny van and heading to town, Life goes on, bills must be paid (and I gotta work on some financial aid for this stupid cancer carp) and it's my grandson's first day of kindergarten!!

so...I guess that means I'll have to take a shower tomorrow. Wow, I'm exhausted already!

I have a 3 day rule for sickness at our house: if after 3 days, you're not dead, then get up and start acting alive. so, I think I've exceeded my 3 days, so it's time to get on with living. Now, if I could just get a "cancer patient" handicap sticker!!! (Honest, I've seen them for pregnant ladies..!) but the exercise will do me good.

You guys are a Godsend. Sleep tight with that knowledge!

Nun faces DWI charge after crash

HEMPSTEAD, N.Y., Sept. 6 (UPI) -- A Roman Catholic nun who serves as spiritual development director of a church in the New York suburbs has been charged with driving while intoxicated.

Investigators say Sister Lauren Hanley, 68, had a blood alcohol level of .18 when she crashed into a tree Tuesday in Wantagh on Long Island, Newsday reported. She had just left St. Frances de Chantal Church in Wantagh.

Hanley, who was released without bail, pleaded not guilty during a court appearance Friday in Hempstead. She faces up to a year in prison if she is convicted.

Police said Hanley had a water bottle containing gin in the car and admitted sipping from it while she was at work.

Just before she hit the tree, Hanley narrowly missed a group of children, the New York Post reported.

"We pray that the Lord gives her strength to endure this difficult time," the diocese of Rockville said in a statement.

Morning Monkeys, got to work late, but I got my cough medicine refilled, so at least I am not couging too badly.

I pray for Tevye today and for Kat Gram. I will be lurking. Trying to listen to court, but I got in on it late.

Just wanted to say hey and have a great day.

PS Northern, I heard of a priest that kept getting dui's. The nuns would take the vodka and hid it, he would still get sauced. Turned out, he had rigged the windshield wiper reservior to a tube that went through to the car. When he wanted a drink, he pushed the wiper thing that squirts the windshield, but instead of squirting on the windshield the vodka when through the tube, straight into his glass.

Beautiful, just beautiful, I'm going to look at this pic off and on today, while I'm trying to get my house in order for a six week visit with my dad, in two weeks  I have ten things started with nothing done, now washing throw rugs from the kitchen, watch the rugs will shred, I just feel it  oh well

Man, I love being Catholic! We have the most outrageous nuns and priests! (pedophiles excluded, of course). I think the old-school ones had many mental problems and drank on the sly (Sister Mary Ethelegene always seemed to smell "minty"). The new-school ones break all the rules. The most important rule they broke was wearing a habit and rubber soled shoes...they could sneak up on you from behind, but we at least knew when we were talking to one. Nowadays, I wouldn't be surprised to learn that some nuns work in bars! Heck, they've set the standards so low, I could be a nun! And you know that's low!
