President Barack Obama called hip-hop musician Kanye West a "jackass" on Monday in an off-the-record comment during an interview with CNBC, an ABC News anchor reported on Twitter.

Obama was apparently weighing in on an interruption that occurred the night before during the MTV Video Music Awards where West grabbed the microphone from teen country singer Taylor Swift during her award acceptance speech to announce his belief that Beyonce had a better music video.

WASHINGTON -- The Senate voted Monday to block the Housing and Urban Development Department from giving grants to ACORN, a community organization under fire in several voter-registration fraud cases.

The 83-7 vote would deny housing and community grant funding to ACORN, which stands for the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now.

The action came as the group is suffering from bad publicity after a duo of conservative activists posing as a prostitute and her pimp released hidden-camera videos in which ACORN employees in Baltimore gave advice on house-buying and how to account on tax forms for the woman's income. Two other videos, aired on the FOX News Channel, depict similar situations in ACORN offices in Brooklyn and Washington, D.C.

Add this to the visual: Running away from home and spending the school year camping in a state park....we're talking WINTER too, and living 10 miles from school. Thankfully, both me and my roomie (tentee?) had bikes and boyfriends. And the showers at school were divine! Stubborn is as stubborn does.

Getting ready to leave now in a few minutes. Got to go get a renewal sticker for my car tag. I usually do it by mail, but it slipped up on me this year, and it expired yesterday on my birthday. Then a little shopping.

Chili is in the crock pot. I'll make the cornbread & rice when I get back, as well as shredding cheese and chopping green onions to go on top of chili. Fresh sour cream in the fridge, and a fresh pitcher of sweet tea. Key lime pie for desert, chilling as we speak.

I think all jails should have mandatory literacy programs.     That would be some real empowerment.
