I apologize if this discussion has been started.  I searched for it and didn't find anything.

It seems nothing has been posted on the news sites since the initial story about her disappearance.  I was hoping more information would be released.  I feel so bad for her family, especially her fiance.

The story is on the Fox News site below
http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,548904,00.html
"NEW HAVEN, Conn. —  A 24-year-old graduate student at Yale University's School of Medicine vanished days before her wedding and has been declared missing by campus police.

Annie Marie Le, who is supposed to be married on Sunday, has not been seen or heard from since Tuesday morning, according to the Yale Police Department.

Deputy University Secretary Martha Highsmith, who oversees campus security operations, said Wednesday evening that there is no evidence of foul play in Le's disappearance but declined to elaborate because the investigation is ongoing.

The FBI and the Connecticut State Police are assisting the Yale Police Department in the search for Le.

Police went to the missing student's last known location, 10 Amistad Street, late Wednesday night but didn't find her.

Click here to read the story at UWire.com.

Click here to read the story at the Yale Daily News.

A 2007 graduate of the University of Rochester who is now studying for a doctorate in pharmacology and molecular medicine, Le began the day Tuesday working in her lab at the Sterling Hall of Medicine, said University Vice President and Secretary Linda Lorimer.

Le left the lab sometime Tuesday morning to walk the three blocks to the Amistad Street facility where she frequently works on experiments, according to Lorimer.

She brought her Yale identification card with her — records show that she swiped it at the building's entrance about 10 a.m. — but left her purse with her cell phone, credit cards and money in her Sterling office, Lorimer said.

Several students and workers confirmed that there was an unexpected fire alarm in the Amistad Street building at about 1 p.m. on Tuesday, and it was evacuated.

Lorimer said the university has scanned footage from security cameras but hasn't been able to confirm that Le left the facility after she entered it.

“We have been looking now at all of the tapes of every exit and entrance over the entire 24 hours, just to see if there’s any information we can give to the law enforcement agencies,” Lorimer said.

No e-mail was sent to the campus community to inform students and faculty of Le's disappearance.

Her fiance, Jonathan Widawsky, a graduate student at Columbia University who attended Rochester with her, could not be reached for comment Wednesday, though an NBC affiliate station in Connecticut reported that he was in New Haven helping with the search on Wednesday.

Efforts to reach Le’s parents were also unsuccessful.

Le worked in the lab of Anton Bennett, an associate professor of pharmacology. Police confiscated her belongings from that lab yesterday and were still examining her lab space Tuesday evening.

Bennett, for his part, said he was first contacted by police late Tuesday after Le’s roommate reported her missing.

He emphasized that his eight-person laboratory team, of which Le is a member, works closely together and, as such, her colleagues noticed her absence quickly.

“There was certainly immediate concern about her whereabouts,” Bennett said. “And they grew over the course of the day,” especially after she missed a pathology class for which she is a teaching assistant.

Bennett described Le as an extremely diligent and well-organized student. He added that she was always aware of her surroundings and took appropriate precautions when leaving the lab late at night.

Colleagues interviewed described Le as a bundle of energy, saying she is upbeat and friendly.

School of Medicine Dean Robert Alpern said he was notified about Le’s disappearance late yesterday afternoon, just before the Department of Pharmacology met and was briefed on the situation.

“The biggest thing we’re worried about right now is, ‘Is she okay?’ ” he said.

Le is of Asian descent and has brown hair and brown eyes. She is 4-foot-11 and weighs 90 pounds.

Anyone with information on Le’s whereabouts is asked to contact the Yale Police Department at (203) 432-4400."

This is a problemo.. We already had one woman who ran off because she got nervous....later found on a bus in Arizona if I remember correct..

Is that was is happening here ? Why is the F.B.I. involved so fast ? I am not saying that is bad but WHY ?

What about that fire alarm ? WHO set it off and WHY ?

Anyways.. I hope they find the answer quick.

We had a similar situation in our area with an Asian girl from Stanford and she was later found inside of her own trunk in her car at another university..

Yale grad student Annie Le disappears 5 days before New York wedding

BY Corky Siemaszko
DAILY NEWS STAFF WRITER

Yale Police Department
Annie Le, a 24-year-old graduate student at Yale, is last seen in photo still from a surveillance camera (r.).

A Yale grad student vanished just days before she was supposed to get married, leaving cops to determine if she's a runaway bride - or the victim of a crime.

Annie Marie Le, 24, has not been seen or heard from since Tuesday, the Yale Police Department confirmed Thursday. She left behind a purse with her cell phone, credit cards and money.

"The biggest thing we're worried about right now is, 'Is she okay?" Robert Alpern, dean of the School of Medicine, told FOX News in New Haven, Conn.

The FBI and Connecticut State Police have also joined the search for Le, who is engaged to Jonathan Widawsky, a graduate student at Columbia University.

They are supposed to get married in New York on Sunday, according to their wedding web site.

Le, who is from Placerville, Calif., is working on a doctorate in pharmacology at Yale's School of Medicine.

Le, who got her undergraduate degree at the University of Rochester in 2007, was conducting an experiment at a Yale lab when she disappeared, police said.

The grad student used her Yale ID card to check into the facility at 10 a.m.

Cops are checking the lab's video camera footage to see if Le left when the building was evacuated at 1 p.m. after someone pulled a fire alarm.

"We have been looking now at all the tapes of every exit and entrance over the entire 24 hours, just to see if there's any information we can give to law enforcement agencies," Yale University veep Linda Lorimer told FOX.

Le's roommate in New Haven reported her missing when she didn't come home Tuesday, police said.

Debbie Apuzzo, who works in the pharmacology department, told the Associated Press that Le was excited about getting married and described her as energetic and conscientious.

Police said Le is of Asian decent and has brown hair and brown eyes. She is 4-foot-11 and weighs only 90 pounds.

Missing Yale student wrote article on staying safe

By JOHN CHRISTOFFERSEN
Associated Press Writer

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (AP) -- A Yale University graduate student who disappeared less than a week before her planned wedding wrote a magazine article earlier this year about how to stay safe around the Ivy League campus.

Annie Le's article, called "Crime and Safety in New Haven," was published in February in a magazine produced by Yale's medical school. It compares higher instances of robbery in New Haven to cities that house other Ivy League schools and includes an interview with Yale Police Chief James Perrotti, who offers advice such as "pay attention to where you are" and "avoid portraying yourself as a potential victim."

"In short, New Haven is a city and all cities have their perils," Le concludes. "But with a little street smarts, one can avoid becoming yet another statistic."

Le, a 24-year-old doctoral student in pharmacology originally from Placerville, Calif., was last seen Tuesday at her laboratory in the Yale Medical School complex, slightly less than a mile from the main campus.

Le's purse, cell phone, credit cards and money were found in her office. She planned to get married on Sunday, but has not contacted her family, co-workers or friends.

On Thursday, state police with bloodhounds searched the area where Le was last seen, and authorities were seen searching nearby trash bins. Perotti said the FBI was assisting, and investigators also were reviewing images from closed-circuit cameras. Le's fiance, professors, colleagues, friends and family also were helping, he said. FBI agents were spotted Thursday at her New Haven apartment but declined to comment.

Asked about the possibility of foul play, Yale spokesman Tom Conroy said Thursday, "There's no evidence of it at this time."

Le was excited about getting married and is energetic and conscientious, said Debbie Apuzzo, who works in the pharmacology department.

Le, 4-foot-11 and 90 pounds, is of Asian descent and has brown hair and brown eyes. She received her undergraduate degree in bioscience in 2007 from the University of Rochester in New York, said Sharon Dickman, a university spokeswoman.

While at the University of Rochester, she did a summer project at the National Institutes of Health on bone tissue engineering with a goal of regenerating tissue for people suffering from degenerative bone diseases. She said her career goal was to work as an NIH investigator or as a professor.

Her mentor, Rocky Tuan, described her as bright and hardworking, saying the NIH undergraduate scholars program was very selective.

"She's a very happy person," Tuan said. "Everybody got along with her. She's always smiling, laughing."

Thanks Blonde - this is so curious.  I really am hoping that she ran off to avoid getting married even though it's not likely.  Such a bright young girl.

I just heard on FoxNews that Annie was seen entering the Lab facility on suveillance video, but was not seen leaving it. It sounds like the lady in NYC who was in the highrise cleaning and later was found dead in an AC duct.

Yale Daily News: Graduate Student Goes Missing

By DAVE ALTIMARI, VANESSA DE LA TORRE and CHRISTINE DEMPSEY The Hartford Courant

5:24 p.m. EDT, September 11, 2009

NEW HAVEN - Federal investigators called in more than a dozen state police detectives Friday to help conduct interviews of people known to be in the research building that missing Yale student Annie Le was last seen entering on Tuesday morning.

Authorities have been unable to find any evidence on surveillance tapes that the 24-year-old graduate student, who was to be married this weekend, left the building that day, sources said.

They are now going through the slow process of interviewing everyone they believe was in the building after 10 a.m. to see if anyone saw her or anything suspicious.

As a fourth day passed with no sign of Le, sources said investigators are leaning away from the theory that she is a bride with cold feet and more toward the possibility she is the victim of a violent crime.

Yale University Chief of Police James A. Perrotti announced Friday evening that the University is offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to Le's whereabouts.

Sources said more than 100 investigators from the FBI, state police and Yale police are now working on the case.

Le was last seen entering a Yale research lab at 10 Amistad St. about 10 a.m. on Tuesday morning.

Investigators have spent the past few days pouring over surveillance tapes of everyone entering and leaving the building and have been unable to identify Le ever leaving the building, sources said.

Federal agents and state police using bloodhounds combed the inside and outside of the research lab the past two days but haven't found any clues as to what happened to Le. They also dug through garbage dumpsters in the area.

Le was supposed to marry Jonathan Widawsky, a Columbia University graduate student, on Sunday in New York. Widawsky came to New Haven on Wednesday to help in the search for his fiancee. Yale officials told the Yale Daily News that he is not a suspect in her disappearance.

At the North Ritz Club in Syosset, an upscale Long Island venue where Le was to hold her wedding reception, an employee confirmed Friday evening that the wedding had been canceled earlier in the day.

"It would have been very nice, I can tell you that," a sales representative at the club said earlier Friday.

"It's pretty bad," the employee said, adding: "We've had cancellations, but nothing like this."

Le was reported missing to Yale police shortly before 10 p.m. on Tuesday night. Police said they quickly discovered that she had left her cellphone, apartment keys and wallet at the Sterling Hall of Medicine building on Tuesday morning and then walked the three blocks to the research lab.

Le is pursuing a joint doctoral and medical degree at Yale after graduating from the University of Rochester, where she met her fiance and received her undergraduate degree in bioscience in 2007.

While there, she did summer research at the National Institutes of Health on bone tissue engineering, with a goal of regenerating tissue for people with degenerative bone diseases. She said that her career goal was to work as an NIH investigator or as a professor.

Rocky Tuan, Le's mentor at the NIH, who teaches at the University of Pittsburg's School of Medicine, said Friday afternoon that he had cautioned her about the neighborhood where Yale's medical school is located.

Tuan had written numerous letters of recommendation for Le as she applied to top graduate schools, and when Le told him she had decided on Yale, "I said, 'Hmm, that area is not known for being the best of town ... Be careful.' "

"She said, 'Oh, I know what I'm doing,' " Tuan recalled. "She likes the school, she likes the people. She was very excited."

"At that stage of her life," Tuan continued, "there's not anything you can't overcome. It would be surprising to me if she said, 'Oh, I'm scared.' Thinking positive and everything, that's her character."

This is one hour from where I live, I went to hairdressing school in this area years ago and it's creepy .

Family cancels planned wedding ceremony of missing Yale bride-to-be Annie Le

Missing Yale graduate student Annie Le's wedding has been canceled.

"The wedding is off," a supervisor at the North Ritz Club in Syosset, Long Island said Friday afternoon, less than 48 hours before a planned reception.

"A family member called and canceled it."

Le, a 24-year-old doctoral student in pharmacology, was last seen Tuesday at her lab in the Yale Medical School complex, about a mile from the main campus.

She received her undergraduate degree in bioscience in 2007 from the University of Rochester, where she met her fiance, Jonathan Widawsky, a Columbia University graduate student.

The 4-foot-11, 90-pound student wrote an article for a school magazine about how to stay safe on campus.

"Crime and Safety in New Haven" was published as a cover story in February.

It compared higher instances of robbery in New Haven to other Ivy League cities.

"Despite safety measures such as door-to-door escort and shuttle services, the Yale community is still plagued with thefts, some involving frightening confrontations," Le wrote in "B Magazine" seven months ago.

Le's purse, cell phone, credit cards and money were found in her office.

She planned to get married on Long Island on Sunday.

She has not contacted her family, co-workers or friends.

For the article, Le interviewed Yale's chief of police, James Perrotti, who offered advice such as "pay attention to where you are" and "avoid portraying yourself as a potential victim."

She summed up her article saying: "In short, New Haven is a city, and all cities have their perils, but with a little street smarts, one can avoid becoming yet another statistic."

Ok this is very suspicious...sounds to me like someone set her up. She walked 3 blocks to another building but left her purse, etc behind. Was she in a hurry or was she threatened by someone? Did a coworker call her out to that building maybe on a pretense?  Then the unexpected fire alarm....purposely set by the person who called her over to that building? Sounds very fishy to me!  Sounds like maybe a coworker was infatuated with her and couldn't bear to see her get married to someone else or maybe another asian that was upset that she was marrying someone from a different race.

This is puzzling.  Fire alarm going off and false alarm?  Police say no corrolation?  I wonder where the alarm was pulled in relation to the room she was in?  Could she have pulled it if being carried out by someone?  If she did want to avoid marrying, could she have worn disguise out of bldg?  So many other questions-was it normal for her to leave her belongings in her office at other bldg?  And her publication in the newspaper-someone showing her that she's wrong?  Or was this a setup?

Yale offers $10,000 reward for info on missing student

September 11, 2009 By MATTHEW CHAYES. AND ZACHARY R. DOWDY.  matthew.chayes@newsday.com., zachary.dowdy@newsday.com
Yale University announced it is offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to the whereabouts of one of its own, Annie Le, a graduate student from California who vanished from a college lab on Tuesday - less than a week before she was to be married on Long Island.

Officials announced the reward late Friday afternoon, urging people with information to call the 24-hour FBI hotline at 877-503-1950.

The monetary incentive comes after three days of searching for Le, 24, who was last seen entering a building housing the university laboratory where she worked on Amistad Street in New Haven.

More than 100 law enforcement officials from the Yale Police Department, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Connecticut State police and New Haven Police Department have scoured the environs and even searched through garbage cans for clues. Last night, police brought two German shepherds into the Amistad Street building.

They labored in the rain Friday, but reported no new information about their probe.
Le's roommate reported her missing Tuesday night when she didn't return home to their Lawrence Street apartment.

Missing-person posters with photos of Le dotted the campus Friday, where they were taped to the windows of the Yale research lab where she was last seen at about 10 a.m. Tuesday.

One of the photos in the posters shows her entering the building, carrying papers on the morning she went missing.

The doctoral student in pharmacology "has not been seen or heard from by family, co-workers and friends" since then, according to the poster.
Police have said that Le's fiance, Jonathan Widawsky of Huntington, a graduate student in physics at Columbia University in Manhattan, is in New Haven cooperating with police. A representative for North Ritz Club in Syosset, where the nuptials were to be held Sunday, said Friday that the wedding has been canceled.

"A family member called," said Vasilios Nerantzinis, a manager at the North Ritz Club, which is located on Jericho Turnpike. "It would have been canceled anyway because if we don't hear anything at this point a few days before the wedding, we cancel it."

Le used her university identification card to enter the lab building about 10 a.m., but left her purse, cell phone, credit cards and cash in her office, located in another Yale building about three blocks away, according to published reports.

Tom Conroy, a Yale spokesman, told the New Haven Register Thursday that "there's no evidence" at this time of foul play.

On the Columbia campus, Widawsky lives with roommate Theodore Kramer at 118th Street and Amsterdam Avenue. Kramer was not available Friday.
Le, from Placerville, Calif., met Widawsky when they were undergraduates at the University of Rochester, said published reports.

She was a lively, hardworking student then, according to her mentor, Rocky Tuan, who supervised a selective National Institutes of Health undergraduate scholars program.

"She was a very happy person," Tuan told the Register. "Everybody got along with her. She's always smiling, laughing."

Le, 4-foot-11 and weighing 90 pounds, was last seen wearing a brown skirt, green short-sleeved T-shirt, brown shoes and a brown necklace.

Her cell phone voice message says: "Hey. You've reached Annie. Please leave your name, number and a brief message, and I'll get back to you as soon as I can. Bye."

I heard on one of TV newscast that the fire alarm was caused by a short in one of the fire alarm boxes.  It apparently wasn't activiated by anyone.    This is very sad and mysterious.  I don't think she ran away, unfortunately, I think she met with foul play.

Yale Professor Questioned in Graduate Student's Disappearance
Saturday, September 12, 2009

Detectives questioned a Yale professor Friday who suddenly canceled class about the same time graduate student Annie Le vanished, a police source told the New York Daily News.

Le, 24, a doctoral student in pharmacology at the Ivy League university, was supposed to attend the class Tuesday afternoon. But the course was canceled shortly before Le was reported missing, according to the News.

A New Haven police source told the paper that investigators grew suspicious about the timing and questioned the professor. It wasn't known whether that person is considered a suspect or what came out of the interview ...
