6 miles from McCleary is the point I had ended at. It's 2 miles before this location called Forbes. I have absolutely NO IDEA what Forbes is at this current moment. At that approximate 6 mile point is where a gravel bar or something that looks like it may be a gravel bar. I have no idea if those area's are blocked off by gates or what exactly is up there. I've seen truck drivers (semi/log truckers) drive over the tracks onto the road and it's gravel/dirt, and thats what makes me think it is a buisness area probably simpson owned.

This may be the rest of the e-mail from Mr. Oakes -- it was posted on Insession:

07-02-09 Re: 06-28-09 5963-323(B). Missing child. Gray’s Harbor Co. Wa. Lindsey Baum McCleary, Wa. Age 10. Sent my search report to FBI and McCleary City PD.
...
Note: Many of the police depts in Ore. and Washington don't like us because we come in to the search privately on behalf of the family and find the victim or what happened to the victim when the police and their certified K-9 SAR teams failed to find anything.

When a police dept calls us in, we work for them, and won’t talk to anyone regarding their case and our findings.

What email?  TIA.

My take when I accessed the link is that the above words are a direct quote from an interview with Harry Oakes with a representative of "The International Canine Search and Rescue Service" and ... Oakes words are not a reference to any particular search ... just his policy.

In my opinion ... the interview with Harry Oakes is a very insightful read in more ways than one.

Monkeys

I took it upon myself to email Harry Oakes regarding the report that he send to the FBI concerning the canine search for Lindsey Baum.  I specifically asked him about the detection of Lindsey's scent at 6th and Maple and ... then along 6th Street ... as indicated by Kara Kampen on this forum.

The following was not as clear as I had hoped.  However ... it was an appreciated response nevertheless.

we actually tracked up to Beck St then NE To a logging atv road and our search continues there. So far we've located two empty beer bottles, and a track (Scent trail) heading east 6 miles on either a motor cycle or ATV.

we are also (the search dogs) picking up a dead human alert 1/2 mile East of Beck the winds are coming from the south. I can't tell you about anything else we've found. That's been handed over to the McCleary Police.

Note: The death scent on a dead human could be from any "Dead Human" that has died in the area. Not neccessarily the missing child's scent.

Karma

My email to Harry Oakes was a suggestion ... not a question.

I suggested that considering the findings of the LE/FBI canine search were negative ... maybe the report on his canine search on Sixth Street would have the ability to spark renewed interest in the Lindsey Baum case if it went public.

I had no idea that he would share anything with me.  My thought process was that maybe he would contact the media.

However ... Harry Oakes did share me.  Nothing about 6th Street.  Everything about Beck Street.  A search I was previously unaware of.

That's it.  That's all.

According to Harry Oakes ...

When they refuse our offers to assist and the victim(s) family calls in, we then work for the family. If this embarrasses the law enforcement community, it’s not our fault. We’re just doing the job we’ve been hired to do.

So my beef is this:  I am involved with Lindseys search from day one, and yet me, my boyfriend mark duncan, and others have been slung through the mud and the posts about us have not been deleted. there was no protecting us from you and several of you monkeys said things that weren't nice. You didnt know me but had no problem (not all of you) running with the crap being said about us. Its a different story though when it comes to you all wanting to protect kona just because she is a regular poster.  You have no idea the damage you can do to someone who does nothing but help in this search when you sling mud at them.

The property being searched does NOT BELONG to mark duncan. Marks property that was made reference to by a poster isnt even in mccleary. its olympia. granted no far, but no relation to the property out foreman road. I am not sure how that was confused.

I was at MB's yesterday. Saw the hope and dispear in her face with all the news that came about. The best thing any of you can do at this point is pray that what they find in this search will lead to bringing lindsey home!

Melissa ... as far as I know nobody on this forum has identified the property currently being searched as belonging to you or Mark Duncan.

If I am reading the map correctly and ... Mark Duncan's property is located on N. Summit Road as indicated by Cluemaster ... the implication is that the curtent search is being conducted on the other side of McCleary.

When the location of Harry Oakes canine search in regards to Beck Street is considered ... in the process of elimination ... was Mark Duncan's property searched by investigators in the Lindsey Baum case.  I noticed that N. Summit Road intersects with Beck.

Melissa ... it is my prayer that today's events will bring closure and ... the justice process can begin.

Has anyone thought of searching the vacant and foreclosed 5 acres and house at 12310 Summit Lake Road NW, which is next to the highway between Olympia and McCleary in Thurston County?

It belonged to a Mark Duncan, live-in boyfriend of Melissa McCann, who have both known Lindseys mother since attending Timberline High together in 89/90.

Just a thought.....

Summit Lake road? I don't remember reading any posts on the road. I know I mentioned something about Summit Lake itself, because I was curious of it's location in regards to the position of the scent whereabouts.

I'm not going to touch anything else in this topic until I see how the houses being searched comes out Sad

Alright, now that I have the 10 foot pole on this topic put away

I was mistaken on the distance between McCleary and Kamilche. Which puts the 6 miles into a different location. The distance between McCleary and Kamilche is 9 miles, so three miles before Kamilche is where the dogs traced the scent up to. Which still keeps the location in Mason County. Mason county is located a little ways out of McCleary just past the 4 mile marker. BTW for those who do not know Kamilche is a reservation and has a casino and hotel. I will post more up when I find the time to research into this. Smile

Sunshine.

If the witness sightings are credible ... Lindsey was at 5th and Maple shortly after 9:30 PM.  It was dusk ... almost dark ... at that time.

Considering the "death scent" and Harry Oakes indecision regarding the vehicles ... I am assuming Oakes is tracking on foot with a cadaver dog/s.

My understanding of Oakes email to me is that there was a "death scent" detected indicating that a deceased person may have been transported by some type of open vehicle.

I contend if the "death scent" was connected to Lindsey ... Lindsey was already deceased when she was on Beck.

Think about it.  Beck can be easily accessed from the Baum residence via First.
