My dad had two margarittas and fell at the Outback Steak House. His arm is cut, I took care of it, I told him he is not having no more liquor while he is here, I got mad at my husband because of the drinking, and now what a mess. I told my dad to put his pajamas on and sit still for the night. I am so upset I don't know what to do.
an angelic monkey I know you are under so much stress now. Maybe your husband will help you now that he has seen the consequences of the drinking and the effect on your father.

It is so hard when the relationship changes with our parents, and they are now the child and you have to be the parent. You are in my heart.  an angelic monkey

Thank-you and I appreciate all of your help. When I read the posts about the cane that is a quad I had to laugh. When I suggested a cane, the first thing he yelled at me is it isn't going to be one of those that looks like a claw  Dear Lord, at least we will start out with a normal cane, and work up to the other kind.

Oh no - I'am so sorry NoRose - is it cut bad?  Good Lord it is a good thing he didn't fall and hit his head or break something.  I can only imagine how upset and scared you are.  You did the right thing having him get his pj's on and sit - he will be sore tomorrow.  Gosh I hate to hear that happened.  I hope you have calmed down and are not to upset - as long as he rests now it should be ok. He will probably need to go to bed soon if he had 2 margaritas
Thank-you, no he isn't cut bad, and thank God he didn't hit his head. I finally was able to explain to him that who cares what your shoes look like, who cares if you have to use a cane. He has agreed to get a pair of flat shoes with velcro like Fanny suggested, and a cane. And he promised he wouldn't drink when we go out.  I said fine, and that's good, but I don't want you drinking in the house either, unless it is a tiny glass of wine, but that's it, if you have too. I had to get mean with him for him to finally listen and it worked, I said I'm not fooling around with this, it is for your own good. He is a very stubborn Italian, and I told him I'm still more stubborn and you are going to listen. He is now in front of the tv laughing with my husband.

Now, if we can just get you calmed down and laughing.  an angelic monkey

Get your Italian up and tell him it will either be a quad cane or a walker.

Ok good I am glad he is laughing and enjoying TV with your husband that is a good thing - sometimes you have to get tough with them and sound like a mean old battle ax but it is the only way to get your point across sometimes.  Fanny is right he needs to get some flat shoes and the velcro makes it easier for them to deal with.  Deep breath - relax now and enjoy.

I am going to grab a bite of dinner and will be back soon.

I want to be Polish or Canadian right about now.

Not really, I am proud to be an American, but I see the leaders of my country becoming socialist/communist A-holes with the backbone of a slug.

Tell him it either..or. I know it is hard. My mama didn't want a life alert either till she fell off the bed and couldn't get up. Maybe now that he has fallen, he will think about it if you bring it up again. He can tuck in in his shirt. This may have scared worse than you know.

Democratic political committees have seen a decline in their fundraising fortunes this year, a result of complacency among their rank-and-file donors and a de facto boycott by many of their wealthiest givers, who have been put off by the party's harsh rhetoric about big business.

http://www.weaselzippers.net/blog/2009/09/democrats-leftist-assholes-that-forgot-who-they-work-for-arent-seeing-the-campaign-donations-they-we.html

And on this happy note I am going to bed. Sleep well my monkeys.

Hi Monkeys    It's Saturday night!  I was very productive today and the weather was fabulous - I have dinner in the oven and then ahhhhhh time to sit on my azz for the rest of the night.

<a href="http://www.youtube.com/v/dBn2ux5vRHk&amp;hl=en&amp;fs=1" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/v/dBn2ux5vRHk&amp;hl=en&amp;fs=1</a>
  Skating rink music!!!

YESSSS Yes it is JSM - it takes me back.  I see you got some new clothes today - good for you I am glad you had a nice time!
Thanks Mission. For what my mom spent on two pairs of jeans and a sweater at Nordstroms I could have gotten a full wardrobe at Walmart. I am very thankful for my new clothes and that the size I first tried on was too big. I even asked the sales lady if the jeans run large and she said no they run small.  I'm not as big as I think I am.  Either that or she was just filling me full of baloney.  Monkey Devil!

Wooo hooo that is so fun when you fit into things smaller than you expected.  The nice thing about getting the expensive jeans is that they last forever.  I am glad you got some nice things.
When I tried on the size bigger, my mom was like well they may shrink in the wash. I was like, they are stretch jeans. I always wear clothes too big so she went and got a size smaller and I tried them one and WOW they fit good enough. But, I am going on a diet of nothing but salad soon.  Monkey Devil! NOT, pizza is king.

Gizzie, I am not sociable either. That's why I like it when monkeys come here and talk about problems, happy and sad times and just come here for a laugh. Don't feel you are being nosy coming here. Post away. I am sorry your daughter is moving out and you are very sad. Hugs to you. JSM

Thanks for the hugs JSM, and thanks for saying I'm not nosy.

Gizzie, hugs. I left home for a boy one time, took a while, but came back home to my mama.

Her brother is happy as he is getting her room now. He's always gotten stuck with the small room, and always thought it wasn't fair. He keeps telling me to stop trying to make her feel bad so she won't change her mind. He really wants that room!

Just popped in for a few before I resume duties of shuttle service.  Why do my kids have a far more exciting social life than I do?  Got caught up in Lindsey's thread, or at least I thought I did and when I just refreshed it was

Have not made it too Sinsuma yet.  Not sure I can take it.

Gizzie - sorry to hear about daughter moving out.  I have two out of the house (kind of) and it is not easy.  Then they come over for food, laundry and snacks so it is just like they have not really , moved out except they don't sleep here and have lost controll of the TV remote

Not sure how I will do when my daughter moves out.  She has a few years yet but that one will be hard so I can feel your pain.

I know she won't be coming over for the mama things, cause the boyfriend lives with his mama, and now she's taking over!

I didn't think it would be this painful! *sigh*

Oh, he went crazy when I suggested a walker  I told you he wouldn't except our present of a year's paid life alert system, he was afraid the one you wear around your neck was going to clash with his jewelry

Tell him it either..or. I know it is hard. My mama didn't want a life alert either till she fell off the bed and couldn't get up. Maybe now that he has fallen, he will think about it if you bring it up again. He can tuck in in his shirt. This may have scared worse than you know.
That's what I'm hoping, he had every excuse known to man that he came up with. I think he is real scared right now, which I hate to say I'm glad, but finally am getting through to him. Of course now to get back at me he started talking about euthenasia, which I know I spelled wrong, but he is talking like that so I feel guilty. I told him Dr Kevorkian isn't in business anymore, and he said I know but it doesn't matter. When he gets like that I just let him and then he drops it. I said if you want to talk foolish okay, but I know you are doing this because you are mad at all of us for our suggestions. He will be better in the morning, he knows we are right and only doing the right thing for him. He really does know this.
