No way.  Our fcking mayor, my boss, has told us tax payers will not be on the hook for excess expenses are hardly anyone believes him.

Remember Sarajevo and how it ended up? Most cities lose money on the Olympics. And what will they do, put some hay bales in Grant Park and on Navy Pier for the skiing events?

They will have to do major clean up like they did in LA that summer        And now just when you think it can't get worse.  Has anyone here had shingles, a painful, blistering viral rash ?  I have had it two times, the first time all over my stomach and back, the second time, all over my head and face, to where I looked like a monster. My daughter informed me this morning her best friend at work has shingles, needless to say I am so paranoid right now, I can barely think. I know that if I start feeling the tingling sensation, the doctor will be called immediately to put me on the meds for it, that's what he told me to do        And the tingling sensation is not pleasureable tingling

The gum didn't work, the patch didn't work, but the nicorette lozenger was much better, maybe give that a go

NRCG, I think you need to spend a little less time with your dad. Just let him do what he wants. Seriously. First, have a talk with him about where people go when they fall and break something (at his age). That spells nursing home, and it sounds like he'd do anything to avoid that. Then, tell him he's on his own, as much as he wants, but if he gets hurt, he'll be put in a nursing home out there and miss deer season here. (You have to psych him out, make him think he's doing it on his own, without appearing to "mother" him...stand back and give him his head and see how he does. Try to find more "You can do this"s in the day than "You can't do that"s. I know, I've been there, done that. It only took 4 weeks of my MIL being put in the nursing home for her to straighten (mostly) up her act.

Just relax and try to enjoy the time you have with him. When he's gone, you don't want to have any regrets, and believe me, the regrets you might have won't be the "Oh, I wish I hadn't let him walk to the store alone" variety, they'll be of the "Oh, I wish he would have told us all about when he was a boy... " Using that perspective will take a lot of the "blow" out of your day!

Your advise to NoRose is probably much better than mine.

Shingles are horrible, I called the doctor, I spoke to the nurse, I might as well have called up Walmart and ask them if they have windchimes, because basically I would have gotten the same answer, I don't know. I don't know, can you imagine, where did this broad get her nursing license from Sears? So now I have a hotline through our insurance company to ask any question, and I will go from there. Now, this health care crap, it's crap now, why don't they fix that, instead of putting more people into the health care reform? I'm not even making any sense, I apologize, I'm livid, paranoid and scared to death. But I know one thing, I will be getting that injection, I didn't even know about that  I haven't even gone into Caylee's thread to see what Conway released, I'm afraid to get more upset
