JSM'S BEGGING FOR BANNING THREAD # 5

Northern those top ten lists are cracking me up. My stomach hurts from laughing.

Well, at least Canooks have a sense of humor. 

My BIL is a cousin of Canadian's ex-hockey player Jacques Lemaire.

He is  Montreal Canadiens hero.  When I was a kid and we finally got a TV my dad would turn on Hockey Night in Canada on Saturday nights and we would watch together in B&W.  That was before the expansion of the teams to places other than Montreal or Toronto, when not all  goalies wore  masks. 

In 2003 we drove down to Edmonton to watch the Heritage classic hockey game between Edmonton and Montreal.  It was outdoors and - 22 with the wind -30.  The players cleaned the ice between periods with snow shovels and almost every player that was iconic from both teams were there such as Guy Lafleur and Gretzky.  We were bundled up in our winter gear and sitting in Arctic sleeping bags and not cold in the least as the excitement of being there and seeing these guys basically play pond hockey that most kids up here grew up with was spell binding. 

Great story.  I remember the original 6 teams - Montreal, Toronto, Chicago, Detroit, Boston, and New York.  I also remember the Canadian goalie, Gump in the net, who only wore a mask during his last season of playing.  Last New Years days, the Blackhakws played the Wings at Wrigley field.

O wow, my son would have got a kick out of that but brrrrrr...He played varsity HS hockey & I thought that was freezing!  I remember that kind of cold when we went to Lake Placid Olympic Park 3 years in a row when my daughter competed in figure skating up there.    Temps 30-40 below with windchill & FEET of snow.   I'll never forget the feeling we initially got when we arriving in the Olympic rink walking thru the tunnel halls with the flags still up & then walking into the rink where the 1980 US hockey team won gold - goosebumps & awe inspiring.   We also got to watch speed skating Olympic trials, sit in on the private practices of Canadian champion ice dancing pair Shae-Lynn Bourne & Victor Kraatz who trained there - they were the originals of a move called hyrdoblading & no one gets as low as those two got, together no less.   We met many Canadians over those years up there & loved each and every one of them.    My son skiied Whiteface Mountain & rode down the bobsled track, its breathtaking up there.  The village is quaint & beautiful & riding the dog sleds on Lake Placid was an awesome thrill.  My babygirl the next day took to that ice & won gold in both of her comps, freestyle & artistic which kicked off the same success in proceeding years -- sad conclusion this single mom 4th year in couldnt hang on to affording her training at over $15,000  & climbing - it still breaks my heart because she was a natural with a beautiful presentation interpreting music.    This is why you always have seen my encouraging JSM with her skating, its a bond.


O/T   There is no an arrest at the U of South Florida incident - sounds like it is winding down PHEW!

What a beautiful story Capp, I love Shae Lynn and Victor, they are awesome. Sorry your daughter had to stop skating because of the cost. It is so very expensive, not many scholarships for skaters either. Thank you and all the other monkeys for encouraging me to keep skating.

I feel so senile and confused. I have been reading over on Lindsey's thread and I am just   ! It seems like we are chasing our tails.....Haleigh's is not much better... I am kind of glad it looks like we aren't getting docs on Caylee's today. Maybe it's the pain pills. I just don't understand any of it right now.... I think I will just go back to sleep......

I give up on the Lindsey thread until there is some more developments.

Ok, but I am going to fix some dinner. BBL 

I got chicken,okra,corn and bean...come on!      And cheesecake 

Fried or boiled okra? If it's fried I am on my way.

The noise level on your television could hit new, explosive levels Tuesday night.

Sean Hannity, he of the conservative persuasion, will interview filmmaker Michael Moore, he of the liberal persuasion.

Moore is promoting his new movie, "Capitalism: A Love Story," and should reach a lot of viewers.

And that in turn should help the ratings of "Hannity," which airs at 9 p.m. on Fox News Channel.

And to those of you who aren't interested in sonic booms, take this as a warning.

Glad I don't have cable. I can't stand that fat azz Michael Moore. He looks like he stinks and grosses me out and I would kick him in the b*lls if I ever saw him in person.

I'm not on any pills and it is a mess  I follow constantly on Haleigh and Lindsey, but even then Lindsey's case is very confusing. Too many distractions in Lindsey's case, and something is just not right, this Kona woman  I certainly have my thoughts on her, and they aren't nice.

Ok, I said it! I have taken my pain pill, a whole one, so if anyone wants to throw nanners at me, I won't feel a thing....I hope.

I'm making NORTHERNROSE'S bacon cheese corn bread. It is a big hit around here. We had enough left over roast, potatoes,carrots and mushroom gravy left over from yesterday, so I made some more noodles. Still have leftlover collard greens, so I'm set.
