« Reply #520 on: September 24, 2009, 12:17:00 PM »

I'm in such a state this morning, I am almost afraid to peek in on Haleigh's thread.

And to think we have 3 more years to go - I have to believe there will be an increase in Valium etc type scripts over the next few years.

I can't even stand watching him.   Counting the days until he is gone.   GOP needs to get their act together and come up with a decent candidate so we won't be dealing with O for 7 more years.         Even though I consider myself to be very conservative, I think the GOP needs to get rid of some of their ultra conservative viewpoints and get real.    GOP will never get rid of abortion so they might as well give it up.   But, the GOP can make sure the taxpayers don't have to pay for them.   Issues like this...   the GOP needs to become a little bit more moderate to succeed in the next election, jmo.

I think it has gotten beyond a democrat or republican issue. We have gotten too far away on the republican side, and there were issues when they were in control too. I think we need someone come from outfield, maybe even libertarian or independent to lead us. All the politicians have chit on us. There is corruption throughout the government. I never thought I would be saying these words. I am very conservative, although when I was younger, I thought I was liberal. John Kennedy was the first President I voted for, however, later I vote for Barry Goldwater. Things started changing fast. I did vote the first time for Clinton Geeer! I guess I bought into the good ole southern boy thing. I am just disgusted with the way things have gone. I really didn't feel like McLain was goiing to do the things I wanted, but we may have been a lot safer. I don't think we had a good Republican choice this last time, but I sure didn't vote for O. I am just sick and tired of having no choices, no voice, and no one speaking for me. All we can do is support the few politicians who seem to be trying to do right. And pray alot. End of rant!

ITA...... slowly but surely (and I'm not so sure it is slow anymore) we are losing our freedoms - time to take back what is ours.  The Republicans better get their butts in gear and kick it up big time!
I remember when I was younger, boy oh boy would my dad talk about Barry Goldwater, he sure liked Barry

True story...

Last night I was out having a few drinks and in walks this lady by herself.  She orders a beer and a glass of water and sits down at one of the tables in the bar, as she is waiting for a friend to arrive.  Cortney, a waitress is talking to someone not to far from the lady's table.  All of a sudden the lady shouts, "Shut the fck up, quit reading my thoughts."  Cortney dashes away from her and the bartender comes over and asks whats wrong.  The lady precedes, "I can sue this restauarant, you know that, you know that, you know that.  I can sue you all for reading my thoughts.  I think that I shouldn't have to pay for this beer and the food I ordered."  Her friend finally gets her to shut up and they leave, but the friend did pay for everything.

I'm trying to distract myself here, so bear with me. I know this is not the Fashion thread, but D*lce is not here to advise me. Besides, I don't wear a size 2.

My sister died last summer and she was a clothes horse. My nephew and his wife brought some of her clothes over here when they were cleaning her condo closets. Most were brand new, still had tags on them, and a few lightly worn. My son had them put then in a closet and I have never looked at them.

I have finally been able to go through them and try them on. Almost everything fits, and I actually like them and feel comfortable in them. The only thing is, most of them have small shoulder pads in them. I am not used to shoulder pads and I feel like a quarterback on a football team. I am not sure if shoulder pads are still in, and should I try them for a while this way or take them out. These clothes are fairly recent and up to date, so I am not sure. They are also much nicer than most of the clothes I usually wear. What do you monkeys think?

Are they maxi-pads or mini-pads?         Did I just say that?

Since you brought it up, I have a maxi-pad trucker story. I used to shop a lot on the road at Walmarts. I bought a huge package of pads and had nowhere inside my truck to keep them, so I put them in a side box that could only be accessed from the outside. To make a long story short, the lock broke on it, and I couldn't get inside. It was a few weeks before I got back to the terminal where I put my truck in the shop to be serviced and to fix the lock.

That night the mechanic working on my truck tracked me down over at the bar across the street. He said "Don't you EVER do that to me again!" It seems that riding and bouncing along had bounced the whole package of pads loose, and when he popped the lock on the side box, they all came flying out on him and onto the floor. The other mechanics said he was spread eagle over them on the floor trying to hide them from the other male mechanics. They never let him live it down. Men are so weird about such things!!!! I was one of the very few females that worked for my company, and I was always shocking them with something.    I left a lacy nightgown hanging up in my sleeper one time, and I think every mechanic in the shop had to go see.

Okay, I have now calmed down for a minute    When my dad said there was a dead morning dove on my driveway, I thought he meant in one piece. I spent a half hour cleaning feathers and dove carcass. Then I told him I will walk Zoe and when I come back I will finish. When we came back there was my dad with a big push broom out in the driveway, I said for Heaven's sake get back in the house, it looks like you are playing shuffleboard.  He won't listen, and sometimes when he bends he loses his balance and starts falling forward. He is stubborn, sit down and take your shoes off and on, he won't listen. So there he was in the kitchen taking his shoes off standing up, there went a coffee tree and all the mugs rolling around the kitchen, plus several pictures on the wall  Now he is sitting in the yard, I said please no more then ten minutes it is too hot. I live in a cross between the Twilight Zone and a sitcom.

My hubby is the same way. He wants to stay busy and wants to be outside no matter how hot. He is feeling antsy, probably, and a little homesick. Let him sweep if it makes him feel better. I have to watch hubby like a hawk. He will get the ladder and start climbing if I am not careful. Oh, the pleasures of aging.

I am going to try them with, but if I go out, I will take a little seam ripper with me. If I get too uncomfortable, I will go in the restroom and snip them out.

Yes, I just don't want him to tip forward and fall, my whole family has been like that, falls get back up away they would go, I guess that is in my future as well. And speaking of femine products, when I use to buy items I would always hide them in my cart, and always go to a female cashier, I'm weird that way

It's so sad when something like that happens.  We both know that our pets are a big part of our lives.  A lot of people will disagree but in my personal experience, it's good to get another pet soon.  It won't replace Rocky but it will add something back to the family.
Thank you Baby. They have another chichuaua named Baby Girl. She isn't taking it too well. I hope they find her another playmate. It just made me so sad because he was running and playing last night my dad said, then she woke up and he had gone into the hallway and passed.

JSM - So Sorry about the fur baby.  I will pray for comfort and strength for your family.

Fanny - I was just watching a news segment of fall clothes and they specifically mentioned that shoulder pads ( not for heavy days, more for light days) are back. They even had them in leather jackets.  If you feel comfy wearing them then wear them.  If they bother you, rip them out.

No Rose - Get your Dad a big bag of nuts ( walnuts, peanuts anything that is in the shell) .  Hand him the garage door opener and tell him you need 4 cups of shells nuts as the rubber at the bottom of the door does not bruise the flesh so could he please use the garage door to do it.  I bet that will keep him out of your hair for a while, and he can do it sitting down.

Hubby is in for all day procedure.  I was up early this morning to make sure he got there.  I would appreciate prayers for this to go well and to guide the Dr's today.
