All that responded to my photo of marching.
I swear that I remember that day like it was yesterday in emotions- I was so so excited and I had no fear. Because I wanted to be there - and knew I was there for a reason. I was a extremely shy child ... But this event was " I MUST".  Because if I didnt do it - I would kick myself for the rest of my life.
I did do one more parade when I was 20 yrs old. Which was broadcasted live on national news " Thanksgiving Day Parade".  I actually had to Pay to be within the parade. 30.00. I was an employee of Hudson's * making 3.02 an hour. If we wanted to participate we had to pay. I had to be downtown Detroit in a warehouse at 4 am to get my " unknown costume" because I was a walker not a rider on a float. What was I ? I was a Flower. I was given a drab brown body suit to put on and then A Head made of wood that was incredibly heavy. It laid upon my shoulders like a football shoulder pads with the Huge flower head attached all enclosed- the only opening was my face.  After they placed it on me - I could not Touch my face. The flower petals were so deep and wide - that I was unable to touch my face with my own hands. And then they painted my face with a drippy yellow god knows what paint - Which ITCHED as it dried ... I was grabbing people near to me - Please god scratch my NOSE. Every time I tried to bend .. my head was heavier than my body ..and I felt I was going flip over. I walked 6 miles that day - I lost ten lbs that I did not have to lose ( via sweating). because I wore my brothers insulated long underwear and two layers of clothing - on top of carrying a 40lb flower head ...  and at the time I weighed 110lbs.  It was 20 degrees outside when I got to the warehouse prior to the flower dress. Mid Parade it was 60 degrees. I could not strip nor remove the wooden head. I was sweating like a mo fo. We were to be picked up by a Bus that was paid for by the parade once we got to the end. NO NO NO ... never showed up. So me and my gf who was a 7ft elf ( her only eye view was through the throat of the Elf head) she in real life is 5'4. We had to walk back 3 miles to our destination which took us through the most Raw areas of Detroit. OMG the propositions that came out of peoples mouths. I was scared and I thought - DAMN I paid for this. I could have been home with my MOM making Thanksgiving Dinner.
The only moments I do remember was getting close to the parade visitors curb side. I remember this little girl who was so tiny and she had Eyes as Big as the Moon. I took her hand and I said " Happy Thanksgiving" and she just stared at me as if I never said a Word -
She said " HI Miss Lilley PAD" ... I said I am not a Lilley Pad I am a Flower ... She never blinked and she responded BYE Ms Lilley Pad. 
An Event in my life that I will never forget - truly. 
 

 

What a sweet story Deenie. You made that little girl's day. You shall now be named Ms Lily pad in my eyes Deenie.

Hubby update.  The procedure was 7 hours long and went very badly.  So badly that he has to go back on Tuesday and they are going to try again.  I have a massive headache, probably from the weather changing so quickly as well as worrying about him.  I have jammed out and made a very simple dinner as he is not hungry so just me and the kids - potatoe and leek soup with beer battered cod.

I will pop in an out but hope I crash early tonight.  Thank you for all your prayers today.  At least he is home.

Northern. I am so sorry it didn't go as planned. I will pray for him again tonight and pray that it goes well on Tuesday. Get some advil, take a rest and prayers again for you, your husband and the kids. Hugs JSM 

Thank you for your prayers they mean a lot.  My bed smells so wonderful from washing and hanging the pillows and quilt out yesterday that I hope I will be out like a rock.

That is so cool you can hang out your washing. I hope and pray you get a good night sleep. And I hope your husband feels better tomorrow and all goes well next week. 

There is nothing like laundry hung outside, my mom would do that all the time except of course the winter months, I would love to have a clothes line.

I would too, NO ROSE. 

I guess because you and No Rose don't live in the hood you can't hang out your laundry. Where I live, they throw it over the balcony, string clothes lines and leave their laundry out to dry for days. I swear it looks like Kabul or Baghdad on the weekends. 

And I got a citation on my door for leaving my mop hanging out to dry on the balcony when I first moved in here.

My mantra now is.... it takes a Carter to get a Reagan. I pray to Jesus, God and Mary that we will get a Reagan and not another four years of a Carter.

Plus not that I am a "birther" but if we can have a president that doesn't have to prove citizenship, I pick Bibi Netanyahu to be our next pres. He did live and go to University in the US. So Bibi and the Stache in 2012.

What is today? We are a Divided nation that has never been so divided ever in history. Why? Because of Barack Obama that is why. Does he expect a civil war? Its quite possible.
Yes this does field into the Dems and Reps ( which have always been at odds no question) but this is different this is national scale. It is not just those who have been knee deep for years in politics ( that are voicing).

It is now the so called Ave Joe/Jane getting involved that are historically known as I work within what I am given. I am willing to ride the econ political train till it regains momentum.
NO longer. You have 1/2 of American's wondering if they have a stake in their future - If they can continue to have a Home in their name. If they can offer their children a future. If they can actually keep what they have worked for.

Think back to early last year 2008 when everyone thought it was bad. It was. But today its comparably worse - if you look at the big picture.  Its mid physical year budget 09 yet- and we have been thrown under the bus by our new Iconic leader. The Rockstar who has time to go on Letterman yet won't offer time to hear American's voices. He talks and Everyone listens.
He is a infomercial ~ Pay attention to what he says. He means what he says, you just have to listen. He will claim this when the Masses start screaming for their sovereignty. He will say I made it perfectly clear/transparent when I made my speeches.
*** My Father always said learn educate yourself - read - about things/people/topics that you dont believe in and or find foe - Because one day you may find yourself in a position without reason/information...that You have to make a choice. for you and your family.

I am sick of the Rockstar = I don't even see him as Mr. President when he is on tv. I see him representing the fall of the USA. He cannot do it - If We all Stand United. A United Front.
We do not need an audience to make it happen.  He works for Us (( did you just fall over )) He is to abide by the US Constitution. And clearly he is working to re-create his own version.
He Will Do it if we do not make ourselves heard.  Whatever it takes, Small, big, All add up.
Obamination:
Obama makes Shirts (blue/white collars) look pressed and hard so no one can say anything but - OH They were Over starched never to be the same again. Forget about the shirt being destroyed. That comes later when buttons fall off.

Sassy,I did see a show about epidemics the other night.They said people who were alive then were already exposed and had a resistance.I am pretty sure you can get it more than once because it mutates.

Thanks for the link, Trimm.   I can remember being sick a lot in '75-'76 - and being in HS in a military town with people moving in and out, I'm thinking I may have had it.    My mom never took us to the doctor unless we needed a school physical or were dying.

OK, that explains a lot. He needs to be out walking, hunting or doing some natural stuff. What state are you in? Here in Michigan, it's fall. Your dad needs leaves that are changing, and crisp air. You'd best get him into the garden, it will help both of you!

I'm sorry it didn't go well today.   I hope your headache goes away after you get some rest.   I'm sure it is stress related, you're going thru a really tough time.    Will continue to pray for you and your hubby.   Big hugs.

If he were still in Wisconsin he would be enjoying that, I live in So California a disgusting 102 degrees today, yes leaves are on the ground because we are in a drought, and they are a lovely shade of brown
