No. 5: South Sound woman, girl vanish without a trace

What happened: Lindsey Baum left a friend’s residence around sunset June 26 to make the half-mile walk to her home on the other side of McCleary. She never made it home, and investigators have found few clues about her disappearance. They think it’s likely that Lindsey, who turned 11 in July, was taken against her will.

Less than three months earlier, in early March, Nancy Moyer of Tenino vanished under similarly mysterious circumstances. She last was seen at Dave’s Thriftway in Tenino after work on March 6, and investigators have found no clues about why the mother of two disappeared.

What’s next: Authorities have said recently that more missing-child experts will look into Lindsey’s case in early January. Moyer’s longtime friend and co-worker Bev Poston says new searches are tentatively planned for Jan. 16, Jan. 23 or Jan. 30.

Hi All,
I am a female, jademoff, not a male, lol ::MonkeyJnBox::Anyways, I think we should re-think Wayne Watne. I think he does protest too much. Has anyone else seen his comments on the local news web pages? Also, why did he take down all of the photos of his "missionary" mission down in Mexico with all of those children? Hmmmmmm. Have we ever figured out what church he is a "pastor" for? He also works doing some sort of environmental work as well? He had access to Lindsey and Josh for sure. Does anyone know what the good pastor drives? Just following up on a psychic hunch for whatever it is worth.

By the way, I am certainly not psychic, the hunch is from another person who supposedly has psychic abilities. I am a skeptic, but an open-minded one, lol!

My guess is that this article was written by the same Wayne Watne? He says he has children? Where are they?

Sebstian, I read that Josh was involved in the Sea Scouts, which I was told is like Boy Scouts except more fishing, etc.  Frankly, I had never heard of it in this part of the country.  Anyway, I wonder if Wayne Watne is affiliated with that group?  There is a thread here about him, but it doesn't mention that at all.
Happy last day of the year and may you and yours have a Blessed and Healthy New Year!

Sister has any other connection between MB and KK ever been established? MB is from Washington, Kara has lived there quite a long time and has friends and relatives from that area as well. Just wondering if they have any in common friends.

Can I ask you Sister what are your theories on this case and what do you feel happened to Lindsey. You know my stance, I don't beleive Lindsey ever left the house, whether that means she never made it there, I am not sure. Or maybe she turned around and went back realizing she left something and met up with trouble. That may account for the dogs tracking the scent .

Tracygirl, going to take a break for a couple of days.  Saturday is the funeral of Sarah Foxwell and right now that is consuming my spirit.
Be glad to give you my thoughts.
Hope you have a blessed new year.

I guess young kids around Josh's age can commit a crime and keep it a secret.

Missing Girl's Case Ends After 25 Years
Older Brother Says He Buried Her After Accidental Death

POSTED: Friday, January 1, 2010
UPDATED: 6:20 pm EST January 1, 2010
Martha Lambert
Martha Lambert
FRUIT COVE, Fla. -- St. Johns County deputies said Friday they have solved the case of a 12-year-old girl who disappeared nearly 25 years ago

Martha Jean Lambert disappeared from her home on Kerri Lynn Road in the Fruit Cove area in 1985. Detectives began taking another look at her unresolved cases last year and recently re-interviewed family members and neighbors last summer, including Lambert's brother, who was 15 at the time.

David Lambert told investigators he was playing with his sister on the property of an abandoned college when they got into an argument. Detectives said the brother admitted he pushed her, causing her to fall and a piece of steel went into the back of her neck. He said he panicked and buried her in a 3-foot grave not far from the family home.

David Lambert led investigators to the location in September, and extensive excavations and K-9 searches failed to turn up Martha's remains. Detectives said the area had undergone clearing of old structures and land clearing over the years, which they believe removed or scattered any remains that may have existed.

After reviewing the case with the state attorney's office, the sheriff's office determined that the appropriate charge would be manslaughter, given the statute of limitations, David Lambert's age at the time and other mitigating circumstances, no charges would be filed and the case was closed.

<snipped>

We can only hope next year will provide more rays of hope.

1. Lindsey Baum disappears

Nothing hit the Harbor quite as hard as the sudden and mysterious disappearance of Lindsey Baum. Just days before her 11th birthday, Baum vanished seemingly into thin air along a McCleary street during a short walk home on June 26.

Hundreds flocked to the rural East County town of 1,500 people as authorities, volunteers and friends scoured the neighborhoods and nearby woods for any sign of the outgoing, brown-haired Girl Scout and Twilight fan.

It’s been six months, investigators have found no evidence explaining Lindsey’s disappearance, even after the case received national attention on the cover of People Magazine, on CNN, Fox News and the Oprah Winfrey Show.

“Our department remains confident that we will bring this case to closure,” Undersheriff Rick Scott said recently, “and that we will bring Lindsey home.”

I would love a little background on Wayne Watne for those super sleuths out there who can dig better than I. He has had so many addresses and been affiliated with so many churches. One has to wonder why he moves around so much!

Sebastian, this is one of the first articles and there is a thread here with a lot of background on him:

Emotional vigil held for missing Washington girl, Lindsey Baum
July 1, 6:09 PM
Crime ExaminerCindy Adams

Lindsey BaumTuesday night, the town of McCleary, Wash. held an emotional vigil at Beerbower Park for 10-year-old Lindsey Baum, who disappeared Friday night. The attendees held candles, cried, and prayed for the girl’s safe return.

A makeshift memorial of stuffed animals, flowers, and balloons was placed on one of the park’s fences.

A large piece of paper where supporters could leave messages for the family, was also erected at the memorial, with notes saying, “I hope you come back Lindsey you where [sic] my best friend I want you back I want you back home safe” and “May God bless you and may you be safe.”

A neighbor of Lindsey’s, Jennifer Estes told The Daily World, “They live right behind us. Michaela [Jennifer’s daughter] rides her bike and walks by herself all the time.

Lindsey’s Girl Scout troop leader, Becky Spalding said, “I had to tell her to be quiet because she was laughing all the time. It’s very unbelievable. You see this on the news, but you never know anyone who it’s happened to.”

Wayne Watne, a member of the Evergreen Christian Community Church and representative of Harvest Vision Ministries said prayers for Lindsey’s return.

Friday night, Lindsey had gone to a friend’s house to spend the night, but the girl’s mother said no. The friend spoke to the crowd, saying, “I saw her at the end of Maple [Street]. I always think if my mom and me would’ve done something different this wouldn’t have happened.”

Watne encouraged the crowd to applaud the friend and said, “Nobody blames you.”

Lindsey’s brother, Josh Baum stood and said, “I’m very sad. I want you guys to find my sister. Amen!”

The crowd ended the vigil by walking to Lindsey’s home and presenting a sign to her brother that simply said, “Hope.”

If you have information regarding Lindsey, call the Grays Harbor Sheriff Office at 1-866-915-8299 or send an email to soadmin@co.grays-harbor.wa.us.

Oh my! I am so sorry Sebastian!

I'd like to take a look at some of the things Wayne Watne is protesting. Please keep in mind that this area of Washington is so close to Olympia, and Olympia has a lot of protesting, we have a lot of people following in the hippy shoes, I think the term for them is Liberals? But from a pastor is a little odd to me too. I will look into it.

I wanted to share this article I found http://**/articles/2009/12/31/local_news/doc4b3cef00efc5a797739643.txt

I also wanted to show you all this too, as I don't know if any of you are aware of this incident.

http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2009/03/25/earlyshow/main4891804.shtml?source=mostpop_story

Which happened a couple months before Lindsey came up missing. It seems like there was an event after Lindsey disappeared in the area of Rochester a woman came up missing. I could be wrong though, and this could be the event I'm thinking of.

Hi Jademoff,
I have followed Nancy Moyer's case for a while. It is odd to me that she went missing around the same time and she does not live that far from Lindsey. I read somewhere, maybe here, that Wayne Watne may have ties in where Nancy went missing from. I still wonder why he moves around so much!
